"Once inflation gets down to a low enough level, that will give President Milei enough political support to continue to push his broader reform agenda," says the Cato Institute's Ian Vasquez.

The only American who won't acknowledge this Administration's failed economic policies is Joe Biden. "Shrink-flation' is the least of our worries compared to rising rents and stagnant wages, but it is an undeniable indicator of how bad our inflation has gotten. I have $100k that i like to invest in a non-retirement account, any advice on that?

I would avoid index funds, mutual funds, and specific stocks for the time being. Right now, the best option is a fixed income of five percent. Put money aside for the times when the market really starts to bounce back.

Inflation can have a significant impact on individuals and their cost of living. As a result, it can cause negative market sentiment. It is important for individuals and businesses to find ways to navigate and potentially mitigate the effects of inflation on their finances. The current economic climate, including underperformance of financial markets due to fear of inflation, has led to a decrease in the value of my portfolio. I would appreciate any recommendations on how to potentially increase returns during this market downturn.

Even the stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. It's not only that Milei's measures have drastically reduced inflation. It's that the official inflation rates before his election were false, since the Peronist government was using price control mechanisms to hide inflation. Most importantly, the fake exchange rate that kept the official price of the USD around 400 pesos, or in relative terms, a 200% distortion. As soon as he got into power, Milei immediately regularized the rate to basically the real market one, around 1000 pesos. And although he still hasn't been able to undo all of the price controls the Peronists put in place, he has undone many of those, which obviously has had an immediate short term impact on the nominal prices of many goods, contributing to the inflation rate under Milei. And even with that in mind, he is still crushing the results of the Peron mafia, obviously.

@DnZpcGaming 5 күн бұрын
@@evenodd3339not really like that. Everyone was basing their prices on the parallel dollar so it wasn't that big of a jump. At first (december, January) prices went up around 80% and then started to reduce heavily. Now prices are 40% lower than in december. And there is 4% inflation. Before there was over 20%. So you lose less money over time and can save up money which you couldn't do before. The cepo didn't allow buying dollars. And the peso was devaluating super fast. So you had to spend all your money since there were very few options available to save. We are way better now. A stable economy is worth so fricking much. Edit: also in october, november, september. Activity completely stopped. Companies straight up stopped selling since prices were flying. The company i work for literally couldn't buy anything in the local market and we had to do a weird out of the box kind of payments to china to directly import products.

Fighting inflation is like weight loss. People think it's "hard" (not to say it's "easy") because, not only does it not happen overnight, but we're so attracted to the "fun things" that got us to the problem. No one really WANTS to give up the things that make us, well, DISTRACTED, really, from the problem, but the problem IS killing us, so, in order to solve the problem that would, ultimately, do us far more good, we must CHOOSE the "hardship" whether it's the pleasure of fast food whenever the mood hits you or the nice tax-payer-funded program that we don't have to think about for diet & exercise or cutting programs & taking up more ACTUAL charity. The only real difference is that the inflation hurt more people than just one person (the person doing the damage is also the person who directly suffers the most), so there are many people who stand to benefit from screwing-over a "fellow citizen" without really feeling the pain of the taxes it imposes on others.

It won’t fix the problem though. Just like increasing taxes won’t fix the problem. It may change a small percentage of the governments income but the highest cost on the government is medical spending and social security (over 50%) with an interest payment of almost a trillion a year. Fixing medical costs would probably be a much better first step and let both parties do exactly what they are wanting. Our drug companies are killing us financially faster than healing us physically and is plain as day to see. Edit: of course neither Biden or trump have said they want to do that so obviously it’s just gonna get worse no matter who’s elected. Good old electing 80 year olds because that’s normal right….

Inflation coming down is a good thing, but it’s not all good news as Ian alluded to without stating any concrete numbers. Poverty is up over 10 percent from when Milei took office and homelessness is on the rise. People are literally starving because he ordered an audit on the welfare food distribution program that hasn’t been completed yet (6 months and counting), and the cost of heating homes quintupled because he raised the tax and ended a heating assistance subsidy. Great things are certainly in store for the upper class who own Argentinian assets and can soon sell out to American investors, but the situation is dire for most Argentinians (not joking, 55 percent now in poverty).

Stabilize the economy ? You don't stabilize Argentina's economy by borrowing from the International Monetary Fund. The interest alone at 64% will smother Argentina, Mr Miley's perception of fixing Argentina's economy is from the 1930s and even then it didn't work, he should of got on board the BRICS train, the wilting American dollar will not prop up Argentina, it will only keep Argentina in the grips of the IMF and the American Banks with more loans and more interest for the people to pay back.

It’s good progress so far, but it is still a long road to recovery. The intermediate goal at this point should be to stabilize the currency. But to get there he has to keep lowering spending. The proof that Milei will do it will be how much he can keep cutting spending and how long Argentinians will tolerate it. Constant communication with Argentinians as to what is going on and what his short term goals are and why he has those goals will be the key to his success.
