Most footballers are remembered due to the records they broke and the trophies they won, but what about Jay-Jay Okocha, he didn't win a single league title in his career, but he is still celebrated to this day. Why is that? Well, he was good, so good in fact, they named him twice.

Great video man. I was telling someone exactly this last week. While they tell us trophies and awards are the most important, Jay-Jay is still remembered today while some world cup winners have long been forgotten. It's HOW he played that's embedded him in the memories of football fans.

Iam not talking cos he' s my brother or having played alongside him on same team before his European journey but the honest truth.... Azuka is the best skillful player in the history of soccer from day in europe to this day. No one was, is skilled than him till this 2024.Like they say ...he speaks to ball and the ball obeys him. & yes plays soccer like a video game. There was another fantastic player better than Azuka but opportunity find him ( we all played together with jay jay on either teams) We call him " Driver" Oji from Azungwu Ogwashi ,Delta state/Nigeria . Pity he/ Oji is late now. Another family from dame town too , The Onogwu's. Every man yhere is a skillful soccer player but no opportunity beyond state level.

Nigeria wouldn’t have won a bronze medal in the three AFCON Okocha captained the national team if not for Kanu. Okocha was a good entertainer and dribbler. But all his prowess was done at the expense of the national team losing. He would dribble until he kept his striker on offside position. He would be given the ball, even as a midfielder, dribble until he loses it. That may be why he didn’t play for big teams. At PSG he was seldom used for must-win matches. If only football had been for entertainment, Okocha would have perhaps been the best player ever. Unfortunately, football is not, especially national football. Okocha was good for the art; not for the competition

I have been struggling to put out this exact comment of yours for so many years due to the fact i also love Okocha and wouldn't want to destroy the flow of perception per time.. Yeah! Okocha was great on some standards and was the hero in some pocket of matches for Club & Country but, Kanu edge him out on many occasions that they were on the field together. Kanu was a better team player than Okocha and his match winning tactics is much laid in our heart till this day. I urge any doubter as to the potentials of Kanu to put their achievements side by side of each other and study why it was so. [Ref:~ Kanu was two times Africa footballer of the year].

You didn't see in the video where Bolton went from a relegation contender 17th to 8th and 6th top half team and cup contenders partly because of him? You didn't see where he was desperate to go to EPL and the reporter was asking why not Madrid? PSG and Fenerbache were not the best in the league at that time but "mediocre" is a dishonest word. We've seen good players make wrong club choices several times for several reasons such as money, family, proximity etc so the argument about big clubs is at best a partial evidence. Lastly, it is again dishonest to talk like every skill he did was done in the 80s. Yes there were some but certain trademarks were seen for the first time with Okocha.
