Ever since getting on letterboxd I don’t trust rotten tomatoes scores for an accurate depiction of a film’s quality. Letterboxd gives the voice to the people instead of separating critic and audience score, as well as not bribing influential people to give certain films high scores :)

I joined Letterboxd back in March 2021 and I’ve become a cinephile because of it. After logging all the movies I’d seen until then, I realized that I’d watched just a few movies in my life and decided to change that. My life was never the same. Great video!

I think certain movies are being discovered more than ever because of Letterboxd. Possibly the biggest example is "House" directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi. The movie is very popular on Letterboxd. This has lead to it become slightly more mainstream among film viewers.

I've always loved movies, but getting Letterboxd in 2017 really changed my process. I think it just makes the opinions of "the people" so much more accessible. People can be as serious or comedic, as thorough or simple, as they want. Seeing what other people are watching motivates me to watch and see where my opinion lands-- when the people have a strong common opinion, or even polarized opinions, it motivates me so much more to "see what it's all about" than critics on RT. But mostly, I love using Letterboxd as my own personal log. Going back and seeing what I've watched, rewatched, how my opinions have changed, etc. is so much fun. Films almost become more rewatchable, and I become more intent on discovering new and interesting aspects when I do rewatch. It's just great.
