Looking at the expenses and high cost of living , I think Double household Income is a must for survival in Canada otherwise it would simply turn into hand to mouth situation. You could always put up solar panels on your roof to generate power in summer and also in winter! For heating water too. It will reduce much of your power bills! Installing water recycling from kitchen water n doing rain water harvesting in summer and fall will also help.
