The way they executed firefight in this game was absolutely great. A halo horde mode was perfect for this game. I just wish it was recreated in a more similar way in future games

I remember playing this with friends when ODST launched. Good times, good times.

Back in the day my brother was friends with CMNeir and would often help him make his videos. He would occasionally let me play with him while they were filming. I have a memory burned in my brain of trying to get that firefight achievement Everyone was dead except me, and it was the last round before we got more lives (we had 0 lives). Being like, 11 at the time, the pressure to perform was enormous, and I wanted my brother to take my controller. He refused to take it, and I spent the next 30 minutes sweating my butt off trying to do everything I could to stay alive I survived, and we were able to get the achievement. I’ll always be grateful my brother not only included me in stuff like that, but also pushed me to be better. Fun times.

Vidmaster Endure was the one achievement I could never get. You did an incredible job in this run. Also Alpha Site is the best map; no contest.

6:02 also the Tilt skull applies to you as well and makes you take less damage against most enemies in ODST because you don’t actually have shields. It makes the game easier overall.

11:45 there is a captain in the bottom right (just under the sign) that sticks you before you backsmack another one. ODST firefight has been my favourite iteration of firefight, being slightly weaker and smaller makes the stakes feel so much bigger

This game is absolutely legendary. The unique enemies their weaknesses, and just the way they don't act like a total npc. They can actually dodge stuff

Endure was the second to last vidmaster we completed. I remember getting constantly bombarded by friend requests after completing all the vidmasters and unlocking the recon helmet. I proudly wore it in every matchmaking lobby but I quickly found out every single kid is gonna see it and beg that you drop everything and help them do it too. Every time I played BtB it meant at least 1 or 2 friend requests and maybe a message. Still never switched helmets though.

With skulls turned on (especially ODST) your best bet is to committing to back smacking the brutes. Majority of the time if you get close to them they'll stop shooting and charge you (It's doable with multiple charging you too). Plasma and pistol is also great too but close quarters just commit to back smacks. Also would love to see a SLASO playthrough on a mission or content! I bet you'd make a crazy video on it. Love the content!

Lost Platoon is my favorite. Love driving the chopper. Just got back into Halo MCC as I just found out about the flood being added to ODST firefight. Need to find more people for that achievement too.

Remember having a lot of fun with endure back when odst came out, did all the score achievements for odst when the multiplayers were shutting down for 360 and it really took me back. Wish we had endure etc on MCC so I could get the rush an additional time.

Oh and also a flood version would be nice and i have an ideal loadout Carbine full ammo: start using since the first time you see it because famine can suck A Hammer/brute shot: Both the hammer and brute shot can one-shot all pure flood forms Why the carbine and not the BR is because eventually tilt will turn on so shielded flood becomes a problem to the BR but becomes a breeze to the carbine

Did this on Alpha Site myself with 3 good high school friends, we did all the ODST/Halo vidmasters, definitely took months to get them all but we had a ton of fun doing runs, spending hours a night just to fail.... only to succeed (eventually) xD

Lost Platoon is the best map to play if you want to endure legendary firefight for as long as possible. Spartan laser for wraiths, chopper for taking out enemies from a far and great distance to safely evade... usually.

I remember having to do this in order to get recon back in the day. It was even on this map. It was such a long firefight but definitely one of the best achievements/rewards in all of Halo.

Ahh. Vid master. That achievement is ridiculous not cause of difficulty but because of lag. It got so bad we were getting 10 frames a second. Took almost 3 hours to complete it. This was back in maybe 2016

Fun fact! The silenced SMG can headshot drones killing them instantly, so if your aim isn't as good as froge, you cam just grab an smg off the rack and hold down m1.

I remember getting the endure achievement back in 2011. Some randoms from halo 3 matchmaking were using the mythic disc from odst & asked if I could help them out with getting recon helmet. We stayed up to 5am getting endure & the next afternoon we did the achievement for coastal highway legendary with everyone in mongoose with those 1000 round rocket launchers. Never seen those 3 people again after that. From my experience the best way to deal with drones was the smg or assault rifle.

I love this games especially the firefight, loved playing it with friends and my brother.

I couldn't get the vidmaster Endure achievement back in the day. not because we couldn't do it, but because we couldn't get a stable connection long enough to do it. It was so frustrating, we rage quit when we lost the host with 2 rounds to go. nowadays I lack the friends to beat it :)

I understand Bungie probably did not want for players to just camp in their spawn or otherwise be able to "stop" the game by being there. However, I always did find it very harsh to allow enemies to enter and stay in the player spawn area. Having enemies like a Chieftain or Hunters there was not fun

ah this brings me back. way back when they had these achivements to unlock the coveted recon armor in halo 3. Everyone wanted it and so did i. I also completed the 4 sets solo. However as it turned out you needed to do it with 4 players on online coop in order to get the achivment. So had to do it again. Hilariously it was harder with 4 players coop because healthpacks, resources, and lives would be lost very quickly. Although getting the achivment was definitely a fun time. a particular statagy i loved was pushing the 4 crates into the chokepoints so you would not get overwelmed too quickly and could take your time taking out larger targets as well as hit groups of enemies with grenades. But it took teamwork because you needed 2 people to push each crate and you had to get it done quickly between each round. ahhhh good times.

Dude, I'd it with you. It was hard for me to find "friends" to get that achievement with. Plus, I love the older Halo games and Firefight. I've been itching to play it again for some time now. But... I'm all alone so I'd get destroyed in a heartbeat.

Doing the vidmaster achievements and getting that recon armor in Halo 3 is still one of my greatest achievements in life

I remember lasting a fairly long time when I played with my cousin, our teamwork was pretty solid, a lot of it was aggro management so we were consistently getting that backstrike

The hardest challenges I’ve ever done on a video game, I did every vidmaster, just for the recon armor in halo 3 😢 but man did I feel good afterwards

11:47 there is a brute at the foot of the staircase that throws a spike grenade at the same time the brute in front of you throws a grenade to your left, so as you move right to avoid the grenade on your left you move onto the grenade the other brute threw.

On maps with vehicles, if you can pull off the wraith glitch (where you simultaneously kill the driver and get in) maybe you'd have a fun Strat to work with? I did it on normal difficulty and went to town on all the enemies

I still love playing firefight. I don't play very often because I've got no one to play it with, but it is still pretty enjoyable if you set a challenge for yourself.

You can jump over hunters and sometimes brutes before they melee you, basically all of your hunter deaths were where you got hit by the side swing, I just jump over it and it works most of the time.

Did the endure achievement with another guy, both of us had a second account on local co op to avoid disconnecting. Went from 32 lives to 7 on the way to getting the achievement. Couldn’t believe the difficulty spike
