Theoretically forever. With an automated Gold farm above the nether, and an Item sorter, you can automate the input of a Piglin barter automated farm. Then, with a blacklisting item sorter that sorts out all the items of the piglin barter table except for potions, you can limit the output of the piglin trading farm to only output fire resist potions and splash fire resist potions. You then hook the output up to a dispenser set to rapid-fire, pointing at the lava, so that it is constantly either applying splash potions of fire resistance to the player in the lava, or dropping non-splash potions into the lava to incinerate. Then you make sure that your piglin trade farm/farms can keep up with the duration of the splash potions and their likelyhood of being barteder by the piglins, drink a fire resist potions to start it off, hop in the lava, and A.F.K. Forever.

Short answer: you can extend your suffering longer Long answer

Also, if you optimally eat the apples when you are just on 1/2 a heart, you would begin regenerating hearts due to the beacon and saturation regen. This Effectively increases the potency of a golden Apple by ~2900 ticks + the absorption hearts. Totalling to around 7.5mins per apple rather than the proposed 5 per.

Me: gets a inv full of fire resistance potions for 8 minutes and a 4 more double chests full of fire resistance potions.

It has never made sense to me that you don't drown under lava. You can't breathe under water but you can under lava. Weird.

To me it seems like you could extend the time at the end by waiting until you're at half a heart and then eating it, as it would also allow you to regenerate and add significant time.

Ignoring external inventory, shulkers would extend your time to be 36x longer. I also have a theory, if you took in with you a brewing stand and the ingredients for fire resistance potions you should be able to brew potions while in the lava from the stackable ingredients. Say you set up a small nether wart farm and a brewing stand and your inventory was filled with magma cream, glowstone blocks, and blaze rods- I think it might be possible to last even longer.

You can just re-login to get a short amount of invincibility after you log back in With this little trick you can truly last forever without even needing armor / beacons / food etc.

Cheap way to survive in lava: Just quit and reenter the world (the entering in a world will give 3 seconds of invincibility)

2 things that might help improve the time 1: if you get the god armor from older versions you can upgrade it in a smithing table and keep the enchantments. 2: to maximize time between eating golden apples after the fire resistance runs out you could still survive for the about 2 1/2 minutes and food would not really water cuz of the golden apples Edit: you could also use. A dropper to periodically drop out the golden apples so all you have to do is eat the apples

Damn this video is actually helpful. I didn't know that fire protection IV on one armor piece has the same effect as having it on all pieces. I wonder if the same applies for other enchantments?

It is possible to get both fire protection and protection on netherite. A smithing table can be used to add netherite to a diamond tool, including armor. And doing this will keep the enchantments of the armor, so if you have a piece of diamond armor with protection and fire protection, put it in a smithing table with a netherite ingot, you can get netherite with both enchantments.

It would take like 10 years straight to find that many notch apples with infinite world generation

Honestly knowing that you only need one fire protection enchant is pretty amazing would be really curious to know if this works with blast protection and what the ideal armor build would be to get the most out of all enchantments all in all great video as always thank you

i think you can make it infinte it you make automate flower farm and have brown mooshroom. feed the brown mooshroom an allium so you make a suspicious stew, if you eat the stem you gain food+ 2 second fire resistance. that gives enough time to keep the fire damage away with the full echanted netherite armor to keep up with the damage.

You can actually wait a few mins before consuming another Notch apple tho. That would extend it to more than 10 days

That is why you always need to carry a water bucket.

Great vid, but there should be an increment between when the notch effects run out and when you eat another one, so it would be longer

using only the inv you can improve even MORE, like, when the fire resistance runs out and you start taking damage, you don't chug another gapple until you are on half a heart and heal up

Answer is actually its almost infinite, you could be in lava but near it on ground are shulker boxes and brewing stands, so when you spend some fire resistance potions fron your inventory you can make new ones from items in shulker boxes, so... yeah... Edit: or just a full boxes of enchanted golden apple

You could also use shulker boxes if you were only allowed to use stuff from your inventory or maybe double chests filled with Shipley boxes filled with enchanted golden apples

Each notch apple doesn't actually add 5 minutes. The effect is 5 mins. But after it t runs out, you can take damage until your low before eating another one. And the regen, and saturation from the apple will heal you up for the next apple.

I wasn’t thinking double chests and hoppers; I was thinking an automatic gold farm and an automatic carrot farm, or cake ingredient farms, or flower farms (sorting out dandelions and blue orchids) and a mooshroom, or other infinite food source. I think the best you can do AFK is porkchop or steak, if you get the farms set up perfectly, but that cooked chicken is the best easy AFK. I wonder how big a farm you’d need to get high enough rates you could survive indefinitely.

Enchantments like protection have a fun counter that is maxed for fire protection with like 2 prots and 2 fire prots. Ilmango explains this nicely in his netherite armor video

Well, if you think about it, with an advanced enough world, it is possible to last forever as an autobrewer combined with a blaze, magma cream, creeper and netherwart farm next to the lava. This combined with a dispenser will be able to infinitely splash fire res potions onto the player, and thus it is theoretically possible to live forever whilst standing in lava.

Idea: There was a glitch where you could get stacked items of things you shouldnt be able to stack, so why not stack fire res potions with the same setup?
