Excellent job you guys💪🏾 I’m from Louisiana and I’m rocking my Vermeer SC362. Thank god they didn’t want you guys to clean that mulch 😅

Thank you, Darwin! What part of Louisiana are you from?! And I was so happy they said they would clean it up lol. We would have probably used the tractor for that one. The only good thing if we had to clean it up is it’s right by one of our dump spots lol

Nice work. I think I'd be cutting that wheel guard back a little. My rayco does not extend in front of the wheel, so I don't experience that problem. Mine never regurgitates the chips, so I really don't worry about stuff flying out the front for most part. I generally go fairly deep myself. I use my belt guard as a guide. It's 10" deep when it's starts to touch the ground. My grinding area stays pretty clear, even on monster stumps. With a tow behind, there's someplace for the chips to go. Not so with self-propelled units. If I ever get a self-propelled unit some day, that's gonna be what I hate the most is those damn grindings being regurgitated out the front and covering the stump. Happy grinding.

We started with a tow behind when we first got started years ago! That and a handlebar machine. Definitely don’t miss the handlebar machine lol. But I love and hate the guard on the SC70. I definitely hate the fact that it piles all the mulch on top of the stump, but it does a great job of not letting the chips fly out to hit anything. We normally go down until about half of the wheel is below grade, since our wheel is around 20”.

Nice! The amount of mulch is crazy lol. How long did it take you with the RG55? That’s actually the machine we were about to buy when we ended up winning the auction for the SC70. We were actually in the middle of signing paperwork to buy it (for a little more than what we paid for the SC70) when I placed the winning bid. Was so awkward and I felt so bad in the moment, but at the same time was super excited lol.

A weed trimmer with a paddle attachment works well for moving the chips
@stumpproswv
@stumpproswv 4 ай бұрын
I have wondered if it would work to move the big piles, but we usually use our leaf blower to move the mulch. It’s so much easier than using the rake 😭🤣

That’s how I was for so long lol. We were rocking with a SC252 for like 6-7 years when my dad and I were just doing it on the side. I decided to try to do it full time last year and definitely would not have been able to keep up with the 252, even with the engine upgrade lol.

I’ve been thinking about switching to that wheel. Did you ever run the Vermeer yellow jackets on your SC652?
@proshoman
@proshoman 4 ай бұрын
@@stumpproswv I switched to the Rev wheel early on. Ran the yellow jacket and Green Teeth but the Rev teeth and system is 25% faster and doesn’t throw chip so far. I would love to try that new Vermeer system they came out with. It looks interesting
@stumpproswv
@stumpproswv 4 ай бұрын
@@proshoman I did see the new Vermeer system too, and also would like to try it out lol. But I’m going to save up for a Rev wheel to see what all the fuss is about lol. Did it take you any time to get used to grinding with a different wheel?
@proshoman
@proshoman 4 ай бұрын
@@stumpproswv not at all and you will notice cleanup is much easier as it doesn’t throw chips as much. You only need two different teeth and main wear is on the 8 lead teeth.

Nice video. Quick question: when you say don’t back cut are you referring to letting the grinding wheel come back to you before dropping it again? Vs dropping it with each swing? Thanks.
@stumpproswv
@stumpproswv 4 ай бұрын
Thank you! By back cutting I mean grinding with the bottom of the wheel. You want to grind at an angle so the wheel doesn’t get bogged down by trying to take too much. It happens mostly when you’re starting to grind the stump and hit the roots. It’s best to start a little deeper than you need to take the rest of the stump so you won’t be hitting what you’ve already ground down while getting the rest of the stump. I hope that makes sense 😅

Hi I'm subscriber to your channel. I have a question , do you use some sort of app to edit , cut the lengths of your videos you upload , and how do you put the text / writing up on the video . If there is a free app , can you please let me know what it is thanks. I have a lot of videos of my own on KZfaq and other videos that i want to upload that I would like to try this out on . Thanks. I will be waiting on your reply . Keep up the great work and stay safe pal .

@@stumpproswvJust my personal choice, I like verbal narration, not mostly written notes although sometimes I turn on closed captions if I can't make out what the person is saying. Don't like music on how to videos. I like to hear a real voice, not some computer generated voice either. That way, I can have the video on and listen to your explanation while trying to read something else in the tedious, repetitive parts. I think you did a good mix of real time video and sped up video. I paid someone last July to take down 17 water oaks on 4 acres here near Ocala, FL Now, I am thinking about what to do with the stumps. Most are cut off within a foot of grade but a few are higher, two or three foot above grade. 18 to 36 inch diameter at dirt level. Good job on the stump grind and the video too.
@stumpproswv
@stumpproswv 3 ай бұрын
@@kmmanthony hey, thanks for the comment! I have been working on a video with narration instead of just the text on the bottom, so that should be out soon! As for your stumps, for that amount and size, you could definitely rent a grinder and save some money, but you’ll be there for at least a full day with the grinders that are usually available for rent. If you have any bigger machines that are available for rent near you, it may be worth the extra money to rent one of those. You would get finished so much faster!
