Subaru loves both Rem and Emilia. And no, Subaru and Emilia aren't a good couple. Emilia is too mentally immature for love. Subaru's love for Emilia cannot be described as romantic.

For me, I’m not on either Team Emilia or Team Rem, I root for Team Subaru! I just want my boy to be happy at the end of the story, whether he ends up with Emilia, Rem, or nobody at all. He deserves to be happy more than anyone on the show and whatever path that gets him there, I’ll always root for that!

You do realize there is big problem with the whole relationship he has with Rem right? I know your a rem shipper but please actually understand just how toxic and unhealthy it actually is, Subaru/rem relationship through whole story I'm sorry but are you reading/watching it properly? The Hero" you mean the same Hero that has been leading cause of his entire torment and how he ended up developing unhealthy dependency on that entire self worth? His life was saved many times but "subaru" Again did you not watch Lap pillow scene correctly or did you just skip entire reason of it? The Subaru as a "person" was saved again HAHA wait you serious? She didn't "save" him She got him to go back to how he was you know thinking he can be that "hero". His Weak and fragile side only for "rem" to see. Just letting you know the weak and fragile side is actually him not letting go of his old self because of how he will change for the better because of Emilia and uses Rem as a way for escape route when thing's go wrong. Also literally only allowing 1 "person" to see how your hurting is actually extremely unhealthy to your self and would ruin every relationship you have with people because of not letting them in your life and mostly when they all know your hurting but you refuse to accept it because just "reserve it" for one person to be hard on you to push you to become their idealistic version of you because you don't want to disappoint them (btw people shouldn't be disappointed in you for being weak and fragile something Rem actually does) Subaru has extremely unhealthy relationship and has defined his value and worth chained to Rem's Hero that will fall apart and finally allowing himself to be more open to Emilia and for their relationship to progress. Everyone already knows he is a weak and fragile person yes INCLUDING EMILIA, Yes Subaru has always known they know this but he has unhealthy attachments and one of them is being Rem a person who wants to push him to her idealistic view and guess what, telling someone to become that is literally a death sentence and further torment to their well being.

@@Majkelo_ What I think is so good about Re:Zero is that the two main love interests in the story, mainly Rem and Emilia gets to really have their time to shine and get established. I didn't really get the Emilia obsession until watching season 2. Sure, she was cute and all, but she never did anything nearly as much as Rem did. But when Rem was taken out of the picture, she was really given a chance to shine, come into her own, and I think a lot of Rem fans, myself included, would be happy with a Subaru having two wives in his life. Episode 18 isn't about the confession, it's about being in a very dark place in your life, and how easy it is to forget that no matter how dark things get, there will still be some people in out life who we are a shining light for. Who, when ever we simple enter the room, lights the whole place up. The two videos he made summed it up very well, episode 15 is all about despair and hopelessness, episode 18 is all about hope and how that hope often will come from others. Essentially, no matter how bleak anything will ever look, as long as there is still hope, nothing is ever truly lost. This is in reality the true message of the episode, a message to the reader. What people don't realise is, this episode and the 4th episode of season 2 is actually an attempt to get otakus to take a good hard look at themselvs, maybe not be so caught up in fantasy of others live and actually get out their and live life yourself. The things they read about in manga and see in anime is just that, fantasy, what they viewer/reader has is real. Essentially, don't squander your life away. Sorry for the tangent. ;-)

Author himself said that Rem would become yandere because of growing love of Emilia to Subaru, but she got erased by gluttony faster. The good example is how Rem is treating Subaru bad decisions. She always agree with him even if he is doing a bad thing. She is afraid to speak about Subaru flaws because her mind is all about perfect hero without flaws , not real Subaru. The only person who truly see real Subaru is Emilia. She is not afraid to argue with Subaru and talk to him like a normal person. She always want to know a true feelings and flaws of Subaru unlike Rem. Ep 18 is just Rem raising Subaru up. Not because of her love but because of her obsession. she cant stand that a hero she created can loose a fight. Its funny how anime onlies thinking about episodes but season 1. White fox created Rem as a waifu bait. A fake character with fake personality and everyone only watched took a bait. Rem is basically antagonist of the series with a really high probability to be a pawn of Pandora plan. The existence of Rem is true mystery of Re:Zero. They cutted a conversation beetwen Al and Rem in s1. Al thought that only Ram should be alive not Rem, he was very angry to the point that he wanted to kill her but Subaru was close so he cannot do that. Next is Oni village of Rem and Ram. Villagers predicted that only Ram should be born not Rem. Next we have a gospel of Rosswal. Rem never appeared in Rosswal gospel with any role at all even before her erasing state. The big thing is that she would be a perfect pawn for Pandora to manipulate Subaru feelings and force Emilia to open somehow seal in the future. Re:Zero from the start is the story of Emilia not Subaru. Its the story of Emilia but in Subaru’s perpective. The bond beetwen Subaru and Emilia is very strong. They are very similar to each other in many ways. In S2 we saw Subaru’s childhood and Emilia’s childhood and all of parents. ReZero is about development of love beetwen Emilia and Subaru. Rem thing is just a fake love wchich will be a big problem for Subaru in future arcs. Emilia’s love for Subaru is growing every arc and Rem is a perfect person to make Emilia jealous. Who knows maybe thats why Satella is a witch of envy ? Emilia self confidence is amazing in the next seasons but she will face incredible difficult challenges because of Pandora and Rem. Cant wait also to see Emilia in wedding dress next season all Rem fans like you should be pleased to see her like that ;)

@@Majkelo_ I do admit, I am anime only, at least for now. I own all the English released novels of the series. What you mention is thing I've never heard anyone say before, and it makes me even more excited for reading the books. Right now, I'm still busy reading Spice & Wolf and Konosuba in the light novel department. Also one or two manga is also on the reading list, but Re:Zero has always been very high on my list of what not only to read, but what to start next. And given what you just wrote in your comment, there are even more points added to Re:Zero, making that very likely the one I want to start with next. Just don't want to have to many things active at the same time, especially not when it comes to Re:Zero as it is a very heavy show. But I am a huge fan of the show, and I wanted to learn so much more about the world after watching the first season, and after finishing the second season, I wanted to learn about it so much more.

Those are good and fair points, but this video is supposed to be about Subaru's perspective and why he feels the way he does. It wasn't entirely his fault yeah, however he feels it was his fault entirely and that contributes heavily to his horrible mental state

I mean both are time loop stories where the protagonist’s loved ones die horrifically over multiple loops while featuring near omnipotent witches who have tea party.

I mean, still, its not like that really changed my point at all. Rem was still trying to protect those she cares about from Subaru because she thought he was dangerous. Although that is really interesting, I had never really noticed the wind attack The love for Emilia I've always thought is likely due to Subaru's connections with Satella, but who knows for sure

@@ronantheronin3521 I saw, but as far as I'm concerned she wasn't portrayed that way at all in the anime. While I do mention the ln and wn occasionally, this video is based on the anime and my perception of Rem based off anime content. She's been an angel in the anime so I have no issues or quarrels with her
