Comprehensible Japanese

Comprehensible Japanese

2 жыл бұрын

I’m Yuki Kimura, a native Japanese speaker living in Fukuoka, Japan. I make Japanese lesson videos to help learners to acquire Japanese in the most natural and fun way.
Let me give you a quick introduction to my teaching method and how it’s effective.
My teaching method is based on Dr. Krashen’s Input hypothesis. Dr. Stephen Krashen, a famous linguist in the field of second language acquisition, says that we learn language in only one way. And that is when we understand messages. When we understand what we hear and read.
I will not be teaching you Japanese grammar rules or giving you a list of useful expressions. Instead, I will be talking to you in “Comprehensible Japanese”.
In my videos,
・I talk all in Japanese, slowly and clearly.
・I talk in simple and short sentences.
・I use high-frequency words repeatedly in the form that they would be used in actual conversation.
・I draw pictures and use gestures while speaking.
・I often rephrase sentences and use synonyms.
I do all these things to make the content comprehensible for you, to make sure that you understand messages.
Forget that it’s in a foreign language. Just sit and enjoy watching my videos, and you will get used to the sounds of the Japanese language and gradually start picking up words and expressions and even grammar in the contexts.
Hundreds more videos are available on our website. (cijapanese.com/)
You can sign up through Patreon ( / comprehensiblejapanese ) and get full access to the videos.
Choose your level and topics of your interest, and let’s enjoy learning Japanese with us!

@@hunchogatson7056 I'm doing good, honestly I Almost don't do listening as much as I should, cause for me is the boring part, beyond that everyday I learn using anki, review new grammar using lingodeer, read and write almost everyday in hellotalk, also I stay in contact with few natives. I can write, read ok, listening and talk no too much. But still learning constantly

The concept of counters isn't that foreign, though. English has it as well. We don't say "two papers" but "two sheets of paper" (unless we mean scientific papers, then it is indeed two papers.) Japanese just has more of those "units", but they all work the same overall. Of course, one has to learn when to use which, especially if you come across an object for the first time. Also in Japanese, they can function like an adverb, which is why the sentences are always something like 猫が三匹います。 The 三匹 modifies the います so literally, the sentence means the cats exist two-ly. Of course, they can also be used adjectivally.

Thank you, this one was pretty thorough. When counting things what causes the 'suffix'. Like 九枚,十枚 and so on (hope that's written correctly). Is '枚' used for certain objects? Do different animals have their own?
@cijapanese
@cijapanese 2 жыл бұрын
The counter changes depending on the shape of the thing basically. For example thin things like plates, pictures, and paper are counted with 枚, and long things like pens, trees, and strings are counted with 本. This post might help↓ www.tofugu.com/japanese/japanese-counters-list/

Imasu= there is. For instance- there is a man. Desu= is-are. As in- the man is tall.
@agot7fan855
@agot7fan855 2 жыл бұрын
Desu is like saying “it is/there is” So someone can say “I name desu”, “that car desu” Masu is a verb. So it’s added to the end of doing words. “たべます” means to eat. “みます” means to look (she used this verb but turned it into a て verb so it became 見ています when she told us to look at the pictures) To be/ to go/ to come is います etc
@cijapanese
@cijapanese 2 жыл бұрын
"男の人は何人いますか" would be translated as "How many men are there?" "男の人は何人ですか" would be "What's the number of men?" Basically asking the same questions but in different ways. はvsが can’t be explained simply. But for this particular situation, when you say 犬"が"2匹います。you're just talking about the 犬, simply saying "There are two dogs." But when you say 犬"は"います, it indicates that you are comparing the 犬 with some other animal. It will be used in the situations like 犬はいます。でも鳥はいません。or 犬は2匹います。猫は3匹います。
