Rules are simple:
1. only bows and arrows can be used to damage enemies
2. only a dragonbone boko bow can be used
3. try not to lose your sanity counting each arrow lol

Also doing fireblight in the castle would probably be more optimal because he would be at full health either way

That's true, though you would also lose out on the 1/8 damage dealt to calamity Ganon if you don't do the divine beast
