In this video, we drive from Vilamoura, Algarve to Matosinhos, Porto - for a distance of 550km (340mi). We get to meet Antonio of the Floresta restaurant at the Fátima SuC where he tells us the history and events that have occurred at this Supercharger, being Portugal's very first!
I also talk briefly about my thoughts of the new Tesla Model 3 (2024) after owning it for almost 6 months and driving over 10000km (6200mi)
Given the rated range EPA of 399km and WLTP of 513km, you'd think that you can almost make this whole trip on one charge... but is it possible with highway driving?

Great vídeo!! In other countries it will be a lot faster to do 600km just because of the superchargers V3 almost everywhere and it’s very unlikely that you have to wait to charge.

@europeinatesla I didn't check the trial period yet, I'm still learning the basics. About the radio I open the app and nothing happens. Tried to manually scan a radio frequency and nothing happens. I will contact Tesla support tomorrow... Cheers! (Update) I did a system reset. I can listen to music with my tidal account so no big deal for me...

hey there! great videos, I'm thinking getting a tesla model 3 SR as my first electric car but still a bit afraid of range. Do you have any idea on what would be your range if you drove like 100 km/h or 110km/h? I usually don't go further that speed...Also, in terms os charging speeds, how does the Supercharger compares to the speediest non-supercharger charger? Thank you for your videos, they are very informative

Nice video Alan, we'll drive a 650km trip from Holland to Germany next week. Our first one with a chain of Superchargers and getting the hang of driving long distances with the 2024 Model 3. I'm pretty excited I must say. Will it feel like a bliss? Or will it be exhausting? And will the stop now and then even be beneficial stretching the legs? We're really curious to see what's going to happen. OW yeah: and agree on the windshield wipers: the software (and hardware) on this is bad atm. I hope it improves soon. For the rest in terms of price/quality and performance (read: costs per kwh) we are really happy.

Thank you for this. You probably know this, but I saw that at the SuC you tapped "stop charging" and "unlock charging port" in the car screen before unplugging. That is unnecessary. Just press the button in the plug and pull it out.

Hello. I think your videos are very informative and useful, with that in mind I would like to ask you if you could make a video measuring the RF/EMFs radiations inside the vehicle, so that we all know how the new Model 3 is in this matter... So, you can do it in the 4 places available and also at feet levels, don't forget to put your phone away so there is no interference... Regarding you moving from Algarve (where I live too) well remember that a lot of people from around the world comes here every year, so it must be good... but if that is your idea, the advice I could give you if you appreciate good air into your lungs, is avoid the places where are poluting factories, and center of the cities, if you plan to go to Lisbon area, why not consider Sintra, or Oeiras, it's close enough and you are still within a few kilometers from the capital. The Porto I think you will not like it in the Winter time, too damp, cold and rainy... it's excelent to stay a month or so in the summer time, for example... Well I hope I could be useful to you. Thank you again for the content.

I did a 550km trip in my 2022 LR with 65kkm. On the way there i left with 77%, did 2 stops 17 and 22 min and arrived with 20%. On the way back i left home with 87% and had one 25 min stop and arrived home with 12%. Glad I cancelled the highland rwd and got a LR😁

@europeinatesla 2 ай бұрын
@@basedw wow that's pretty good range for 150km/h... to be honest, the two stops didn't really make a big difference for me - since I need to stop every few hours anyways since I get super drowsy and dizzy from long drives. What got me this time was the waiting due to the full SuC. So I guess the LR could've solved that with reducing it to 1 stop and thus saving the wait time... Also the LR charges quicker than the SR

If you drive on highway ~130/140 km/h you shall be able to make the trip with just one stop for charging in about 30. I did similar trips like this (me, my wife and our 5year old kid, with climatization running) and never had to stop more than once. I really don't understand why you have such a huge consumption... is the altitude difference that big or battery has an issue?

Hi, thank you so much for the video! That is a little bit too much stopping. I was tempted to go with the SR based on your videos and others, but the LR might be worth the extra money given that, like you, I don't like to drive slowly on the motorway. On another note, I wondered if I could pick your brain about something entirely different. This will sound strange, but it is about how you have set up things to pay taxes since - it seems - you work for clients abroad but are based in Portugal. I would like to do the same, but questions arise about how to do this while complying with inter-country tax systems.

What is your take/opinion on the time, is it 'wasted' while waiting for supercharge queue + charging itself around 45-55mins vs going into a feul station with only 5mins to get it fueled. 😅

@@europeinatesla deep dive question….. would you ever go back to an internal combustion engine or are you totally sold on electric ⚡️??
@europeinatesla
@europeinatesla 2 ай бұрын
@@antoniomaltese607 good question. I think I'd get a second car that's ICE - not 100% sold on electric, but. for daily driving and most commutes etc, I'd say EV is better overall. no immediate pollution around you, if you have a charger at home, you can just keep it plugged in. if you have SOLAR you can basically drive for free etc etc. But I do miss the emotional aspect of gears and the engine sounds. I think Porsche's EVs do a better job of "mimicking" the "emotional" aspect of spirited driving. For instance, if I get a sports car, it'd definitely be an ICE - probably 911... and if I'm lucky, 911 GT3RS for the track :)
