HOW MANY MILES? OneWheel PINT Battery Range Test

Don't subscribe if you're ONLY looking for more OneWheel content. Got bored with it and sold the Pint. There won't be any more videos about OW. 😂
One viewer noted very wisely that this is also affected by the rider. Thus, my stats are: 5' 9" and 158 lbs. range will vary inevitably based on the weight as well as aerodynamic drag of the rider.
I cannot believe that the Pint can go this far. This thing is a powerhouse. No, I don't work for Onewheel. I just genuinely love their products and the PINT has blown me away with its range. This is the unofficial, official Onewheel Pint battery range test. You'll be surprised.

After having the pint for 2 months, I would say it completely worth it. With a fresh battery I could make up to 12 miles. Now with almost 900 miles on it, that range may have decreased a 30% but still in pretty good shape

I"m 120 lbs and It was only 52% on the battery at 11 km, which is 6.83 miles..I agree with what you found, it has amazing range for a lighter person. I was also riding a bit on grass, uphill and gravel too so maybe it could be longer if I wasn't pushing it up little hills:) I wonder how long of a range it is for someone even lighter.

Great stats!!! Thanks for weighing in. Pun intended. I’ve often wondered if with a rider under 100lbs what range it could achieve. At some point we’d see diminishing returns but I’d guess your weight range is ideal for the pint.

I’m debating, I like the pints design more than the XR but I’m worried about the short distance and long charging time its gets.. my area is a little hilly so I wonder if it could reach at least 10 miles on it before having to do a 2 hour charge on it (50m if I get the fast charger)
@MatthewHyatt

It’s possible but not probable and definitely depends on rider’s weight and the amount of incline. My guess is if you’re over 160lbs...probably not.

I'm hoping I can make it 4 miles to the market from my house which is a few hundred feet higher in elevation - bunch of hills from here to there, mostly uphill. If I can make it there with ~20% charge I can probably get a bunch of charge back coming back down the hills! Semi-worst case if it doesn't have enough juice or is not able to recharge enough to make it back home I can bring the charger and give it a quick top off at the market outside while I eat a snack or something before heading back home.

I wouldn’t. I’d run it close to 5%. Charge it until the app says 100% and try again. There are a lot of variables, obviously, like wind, incline, etc but that seems off. It’s always possible you got a defective battery. But when it was first released they only touted 8/9 miles on a charge but even at 68% you’d only get 4.5 max.

@CharlesVanNoland
@CharlesVanNoland 3 жыл бұрын
Doesn't mean you can't go out and tell someone what you think about them taking photos. There was a dude driving back and forth on my street a few months ago but I wasn't really tripping on it because I was looking for a part of my daughter's eyeglasses that she left on the ground when she fell and broke them. The car finally rolls up and says "is this your house?", "yeah", "oh well I'm an appraiser and this house recently sold, do you mind if I take a picture for our records?", "no man, not at all, knock yourself out".. It wasn't until later that I was suspicious - was this guy really an appraiser? He did know that we had just bought the house (or that it had sold, rather). We live on a cul-de-sac so it's not like there's through-traffic. Someone ends up out here if they know where they're going, or they're just randomly driving around - which is something I've done in this neighborhood when I feel like getting out of the house and just driving around. My OW is coming tomorrow (apparently, fingers crossed!) and now I'll be able to cruise around sans-car :D

One thing to also consider is the speed vs. battery usage is pretty exponential on the Onewheel. When I use my Plus out just for shoots going very slow as a dolly, it lasts forever for miles and miles, but when I actually ride it for commute (15mph + speeds consistently) I get about 4 miles in range. I noticed you were going pretty slow on average 8-10 mph. So literally your mileage may vary depending on payload, speed, and conditions. The little variables affect the Onewheel quite a bit! Pumping up the tire pressure very high does do a good job of getting you more range though
@MatthewHyatt
@MatthewHyatt 5 жыл бұрын
Good call on the tire pressure! I briefly mentioned that I didn't push the pint. I think my average speed was 9mph. So for sure that definitely has an impact on battery life. Along with rider weight too. Still even at that speed, 14 miles on that little thing is crazy. Lol. Thanks for watching!

@MatthewHyatt
@MatthewHyatt 5 жыл бұрын
I hear a lot of praise for the EUC. I’ve personally never been on one. But if they get the miles per charge as touted, the OneWheel might not be as practical but as a lifelong skate, skimmer, wannabe surfer and snowboarder, I can say that as far as fun and chill goes, the OneWheel is now my choice. I love longboards in particular but the feeling of “float” from the OneWheel along with its miles per charge is, for me, totally worth it. It gets me wherever in my small town and back. If you’re looking for a fun new experience, OneWheel FTW. Lol. I ultimately bought mine for filmmaking because it’s more all terrain than a hoverbaord and almost silent plus no remote helps me get some really nice dolly and trucking shots. Hope that helps!

I've done a few trail rides on some of the vlogs. I can definitely get six miles out of here. Our terrain in Kentucky is pretty similar to what I saw whilst visiting. The only issue is that because it's smaller, the it's more difficult to keep a good stance on the smaller footpads.

@MatthewHyatt
@MatthewHyatt 5 жыл бұрын
I had two other brand mounts with the sticky adhesive and neither of those stayed on for a single ride. The actual GoPro brand one with adhesive is the winner for sure. The other ones were random brands from Amazon. The only good place I could find was on the rail at the moment. Once they ship the accessories like the fender, I'll probably create some kind of permanent mount on that. But definitely go for the GoPro branded ones. Worth the extra few dollars.

This is what I'm interested in - the range of a Pint for a kid that is under 70 lbs. Both myself & my 9 yo son have XRs, with almost 1,000 miles ridden each. My kid is quite experienced, but he wants to start doing more tricks, and the XR is just big & heavy for him. We do long rides (~15+ miles) at least once per week ... if he could get 15 miles on the Pint, that would be awesome.
