When it comes to dealing with a serial child killer, there is no forbidden technique.

I think Obi-Wan holds the highest number of dismemberment caused. He cut maul in half, Savage arm, Anakin/Vader hand and legs, the stormtrooper in half in the checkpoint, and the thug arm in the canteen.

Now, because Anakin was fast, Obi-Wan's strike was not that accurate, and he ended up chopping off the legs. Realising his mistake, Obi-Wan attempts a second strike, and ends up chopping off Anakin's left arm.

"Mou Kei" is actually the first strike he does when he cut both legs with one swing the follow up strike is called "Cho Sun" which is cutting the arm which caries the weapon above the elbow

Yet he still cried for him, because he knew Anakin was already gone. He chose to feel the loss of the love from his padawan and "brother". That just goes to show that even through such malice, he did not let it bring him to hatred/the darkside.

Sai Tok already foreshadowed Obi-Wan's inner Grey Side, when he used rage and focus upon striking Darth Maul in half.

After dueling for a saga in itself I think he figured there's no way to end this without near lethally disarming him.

So interesting enough because of the popularity of the move obiwan used on maul(the finishing move), obiwan learned this technique that way if anyone would to try the single most famous move he used that he would be safe. And on the other side young anakin was amazed about the same finishing move and trained incredibly hard to try and do this move.

People are thinking this move was to do more damage. I think it's the opposite. Dismemberment was for the purpose of not killing him. It actually required more finesse and technique to pull that off, than a simple slice through the torso, a simple slice done plenty in the clone wars. He just didn't have the guts to kill his "brother" outright like that.

If you look very closely, he actually used that same technique against a droid in the beginning of Episode 3 while Anakin was fighting dooku in the separatist ship.

I think my favorite detail of the whole duel between Anakin and Obi Wan is that the fight was not sped up at all, the actors were going at it for that speed the entire time. The dedication these 2 had was incredible. I actually wondered how Obi Wan sliced Anakin's limbs in one swing but I just now noticed that it's 2 swings, thanks to this short ofc

You know this actually makes perfect sense now. Having seen this movie as a soon to be 14-year-old I always wondered how Obi-Wan was able to sever one of Anakin's arms and both of his legs in one stroke. I just assumed that his legs had to be tucked very close to his arm in order for Obi-Wan's lightsaber strike to remove his left arm close to the elbow and both of his legs above the knee. Seeing it this way it makes perfect sense how he would sever his arm first and then both of his legs. He definitely was not taking any chances.

Yep, Anakin didn't believe Obi-Wan would actually go that far. That's why he didn't even try to defend himself from Obi-Wan's strikes.

People forget that Obi Wan knew that Anakin was the one who had slaughtered the younglings and Jedi Temple Master Cin Drallig, the latter was Obi’s lightsaber instructor who refused to abandon the kids during Order 66. When Obi saw Anakin steadily fall further into the dark side in Mustafar, it simply confirmed what he already knew deep down and that he had to end it then and there. Ironically Anakin was still conflicted and wasn’t fighting with the same determination to end Obi Wan the way he later would as Vader.

When the first strike it's really cut the left arm but i didn't know sure it's just hand or all the arm in left. Because when anakin is almost ready become Vader. They show the left hand is cut which means just hand not arm

I KNEW IT WAS TWO STRIKES! The game also did two strikes but it was slower and more apparent, but this one kid I knew would always argue about it being one when we dueled with lightsabers! Guess that means that between the two of us I was the better swordsman😂

I always thought the first strike was to deflect vaders light saber and the second strike was the limb cutter. It makes sense to me that vader wouldn't just "jump over" obi wan but strike while doing it.
