When a company makes “how to videos “ and others charts for spring tension available to the public, I’m more than willing to patronize this company. Thanks for making this video, I will certainly buy my parts from you.

Thanks for the demonstration. I just used this on the new garage door I retro fitted. 28 Turns was the trick and it works perfectly. Cheers Tony

Helpful video. Just had to replace the cables and they were different length by a few inches. Went a head and took tension off spring, set the drums and tensioned the spring per the chart and works great.

Hello. Very informative. I have the same set up as your video. Do both side have to be equal? Could one side be (31) 1/4 turns and the other be (32) 1/4 turns for alignment? In my case, when the door gets high enough the (2) steel cables on the end stop turning and become very loose so that when its time to close the door the cables are loose and wind on the steel bar instead of inside the wheel. The loose steel cable is by about 3 good winds loose. If I close the door slightly, I can get the cables on track and everything is good. I'm trying to figure out if I can adjust each tension spring. Making it tighter. Nothing has been replaced or change in conditions other than this. Thank you in advance.

Steve- The 31 recommended quarter turns is just a good starting place for your springs. If your door requires a few more or a few less turns thats fine. The most important thing is to be able to keep the cables on the drums in the up position. Just because one side was adjusted doesn't necessarily mean you have to do the same to there other side but you should try and keep them close to the same. Thank you!

@expressgaragedoorparts5380 My door lock does not line up with the slot on the rail sinve it is now touching the ground. The door needs to be raised about 2 inches to engage the lock. What are your recommendations to line it up?

Thank you for these training videos...I live in Southern California and my local garage door company wanted $295 to come out and do this. Not! Me missing work for their 4 hour window of arrival while I miss a half day of work...that will cost even more than the $295 quote.

I knew there had to be some kind of science to this. Of course, the spring also needs to be the correct size - wire diameter, inside diameter, and length from end to end. Otherwise, the torque won't equal the weight of the door at the proper number of turns.

Why does the width of the door not count in the calculations of turns?
@skeeterwendig2076
@skeeterwendig2076 2 жыл бұрын
Because the turns are for how high the door is. Each full turn brings the door up 1 foot with the cables on the side. Usually a tech may add 1 or 2 quarter additional turns to take the slack of the cable when the door is fully up.
