Vista and 8.1 - 11 (with registry patching through installer) will work just fine. You just had bad images for XP, Vista, and 8. XP was just corrupted. You should have had luna. I would verify with new iso and do a follow up.

I say this because I actually had a 15 in 2010 with the i7 and it was a powerhouse. I had a large SSD and dualbooted XP, Vista, and 7 for various reasons alongside Mavericks. Later hacked Big Sur onto it. For a brief period I ran 10 on it and recently 11 for testing. They function just fine. For the best support though I recommend 7 with bootcamp hands down!

Windows typically likes to only boot from discs with or without bootcamp on this MacBook (and some other intel macs) so ive managed to install windows 11 on my mid 2010 macbook pro once via DVD and it worked but once you install bootcamp drivers it causes a BSOD for WDF_VIOLATION and the only workaround is messing with the bootcamp files or disabling bootcamp on startup from safe mode But almost any windows OS could theoretically boot from CD/DVD on these intel macs

vista's installer had some flakyness with copying files over like that when I tried it back in its release. a second run could have net you a proper install! also per windows 7, I think you were still missing the drivers you need off the OS X install disc, hence the 1.0 rating and lack of aero

ah i tried the OS X install disc in Windows 7, it wouldn’t even detect it at all, as for Vista, it probably would’ve worked but i was already pretty annoyed at that point lmfao

@@FelineFixes weird, i wonder if your disc drive's going bad or needs cleaning w the amount of errors you got. if what dylan below me is saying and ur xp image was corrupted as well, it'd kinda be a lot to go wrong in one run like this

you have bad ISOs, windows 2000 through 10 just work in there oob, and 11 works with a patch

Believe me, you can install 10 on that due to me doing the same thing lol. Just lock in and do some research

no no, i know it “can” run windows 10, i’ve done it before on both an older macbook and a slightly newer one. however this one just refused to work for some reason
