This is so important. I never thought the women werent able to gain a stability reentry services the men have. Now I wonder how many states discriminate with the female prison system vs the male. Maryland do your job and get these prerelease stabilizers in place.

I served my sentence at the Cut in Jessup Maryland 2001-2003 for check fraud . I did my time to the door due to the amount of court dates I had from all the different checks written at different banks. It ended up being 14 court dates in one year. Thank God they were all consolidated And my final sentence was 5 years and I served half of that to the door, with no patrol or probation afterwards. It was definitely an experience that has and will always live w me forever. I truly met and even shared cells with many different types of woman from all walks of life , some small timers like myself and some lifers. Most were all good loyal woman and I honestly didn’t have a rough time there like a lot of people would think. I remember Monica Cooper here on this video, back then she had really long dreads and was always good to get a pack of noodles on the arm,lol cool chic. I remember so so many woman but I’m gonna shout out a few that stick out in my mind. First of all there was this old black lady that served all her time housed on DWing which was lock, her name was Lucious,lol! Kristy Zemski and Tonya Manuel (Man) , Georgia Hopson one of my BFFs during my entire sentence. Khantrice Bolden, Samantha Kreps my one and only female relationship that I actually took very seriously, love her to this day and always will. Let’s see the major was Eduvigan skinny white lady w Dark Red hair, very strict and very to the point! I could go on for days with names of. The woman I met during my time at the cut. All in all it took that part of my life to teach me what was really important , and to wake me up to the ways of the world and to teach me to be humble and grateful no matter what comes my way.

Please continue to include incarcerated women in your media about the evil effects of mass incarceration. To the listener or viewer who thinks the state is only required to do the minimum rather than the optimum - define minimum. Eventually all prisoners not doing life without parole, not put to death re enter society. Wouldn’t it be easier to tell people to not commit crimes, get a job, stop having kids you can’t afford, get job training before prison, don’t count on the government, don’t victimize anyone, etc. Crooks are not more special than any other citizen. Taxpayers should not be on the line to provide anything other than the basics for those inmates.
