My grandfather still does a lot of blacksmithing and I have a uncle that blacksmiths and they both will repair farmers equipment. They get a lot of food for free in return.

I can't STAND fear mongering!! It is running RAMPID lately! Fear mongering and lies!! Ugh! Nothing but it!! Thanks so much for this info! This is something I've truly wanted to know! My sister in law and her husband, whose dad is a farmer, get there beef this way. They've shared with us before to clear out their freezer to restock, and it was HORRIBLE tasting. I couldn't even eat it. Now I'm afraid!! Wish you were local to me! Lol!

Your weight seem right on track.. 60%-65% of live weight is hanging weight. 60% -65% of hanging weight is freezer weight.

Went to Glacier last year! I loved it.... we stayed in whitefish. y'all will love it. Heading to Yosemite next week. we always take our vacation before hay season begins

Been to Glacier National Park a couple years ago. We camped there for 2 weeks. I’ll find out all the names of the places that are must see. The only lodge I know of had a fire the summer we were there.Not sure what is up there, but I’ll look around for you if you want me to? It’s a gorgeous park. Definitely GOD’s Country!!!

I think subtract a dollar a lb for the ground beef and add that to the steaks. And if I was buying it I would ask to get some ground for chili, a little choice that is at the butcher

they’re fine. We don’t worry about them too much. We appreciate the eggs. They appreciate that we don’t really like to eat chicken!

Just dropped my steers off yesterday, just in time, down to 3 or 4 packages of ground beef. Freezer about empty. And my wife has been talking about wanting to go to Glacier for past few years. Maybe that will be in the next year or so.

Got 6 limousine steers going to butcher in sept or oct. Depending on how they gain. Agree with you on scales but I bought some just cause I’m curious and wondering drives me up the wall haha. Trying out feeding silage you ever tried it?

I’d love to feed silage, but just don’t have anyone around here that can harvest it or give much help on storage, etc. With absolutely zero dairies around, I’m not even sure where we’d find the nearest silage chopper!

QUESTION: Sorry if its a touchy subject to some! But when you take them to slaughter.. Do you know how they humanely uthenize them? Unfortunitly i have seen some horribly deplorable slaughter places in like other countries.. But i have always wondered how places here in the U.S. ethically do it?? If you dont wanna answer you dont have too! But as usual thanks for sharing and cant for the next one!! Hope you all have a great weekend!! 😊😊

It’s just frustrating, because the meat packers are using it to suppress cattle prices. And anything you see on the news makes it sound much worse than the reality has been.
