So, the bucket will lift more than the boom because the boom has to lift the bucket as well, and not vice versa. A relief value, or rather a good one is necessary, but you can also shim the value and create more pressure. Stock is roughly 1000 psi and you can set up to 1500psi safely allegedly. Mine was 1150psi. That will allow more capacity for weight. If the bucket or boom won't lift or only lifts partially, check all your connections. Guys all the time have issues here and it's usually a bad connection on one or more couplers. Let me know how it goes. Thanks for watching and the kind words.

@@FloridaDeere That makes all the sense in the world. I'm going to get a pressure gauge to get rid of some of the guess work. The connections are tight. This thing looks like it came off the showroom floor yesterday and I haven't seen a drop of oil anywhere. I guess I'm new at the 40 and I still have to learn about it. I'm comparing it to my 318 44 loader and maybe I shouldn't do that. Thanks for the fast reply.

@@spudpail It should be way easier to operate than a 44 considering the pedal hydro and the 4X5 is just a better and more ergonomic tractor. I have two 322's and no 4X5, so no bias, just the facts ma'am🤣. Once you get it going, I would recommend a H-3 kit from Auxiliary Hydraulics for about $450. I have an install video on that and Ron may start putting my videos on his site. I like his products and he's a Florida guy like me.👍👍. Keep me posted on your progress.

@@FloridaDeere The pedal Hydro is nice, but I like the idea that the 44 loader has its own pump. I also like the position of the controls on their own spool albeit it makes it next to impossible to get on and off from the left side of the tractor. I wanted the 445 loader because it's wider and less prone to tip, plus it has a somewhat bigger bucket. I had a fairly big load of firewood in the bucket today and the 40 couldn't raise it more than a foot. That can't be right! My 44 could throw that same load into the next county! I like the idea of the H3 kit, but I probably will not be using this tractor for anything else but a loader, so I can't justify a need for it. I really appreciate your responses and you have given me some great information and I will let you know how I do with this thing. I need to know more about those shims. I'm not quite clear on that. I hope you didn't have to many problems with the hurricane. I have some in-laws that live in Fort Myers, but they evacuated to Fort Lauderdale, but their son that stayed behind and toughed it out said that the house is okay.

@@spudpail What hurricane? Just kidding, we got less than an inch and a half of rain, it was a non-factor here in NE Florida. Thanks for asking. I like the fact that the 445 doesn't need "outside" help to run the loader, I like On-board systems. However, because it does have another system it relies on, you wouldn't need am H-3 kit on the 318, as it's regular hydraulic function is maintained. There is something definitely wrong with your system. It should easily lift firewood, if not all the way up and it might, it should get it well over a foot high. Watch my 455 loader install video to make sure you have all the components. See if you are missing anything and get a gauge. We need to determine if you have pressure or another maybe less obvious issue. Pressure is easy to check, so we can eliminate that quickly and move on.

Yes, I'd say you did awesome, but one small issue, not urgent based on hours, but worth mentioning is that in the '98 model year they switched to a steel camshaft in the Kawasaki engine. It's said they usually last around 1000 hours, so you have time, but likely will have to update that at some time in the future. I believe there are plenty of videos out there and the forums have the step by step as well. The only thing you listed I'm unfamiliar with is the 54" rototiller, I'm assuming it's not a "green" brand? And also we need to find you a 40!!:-)

@@FloridaDeere yes Deere tiller pto Sorry meant to say 450. Has the original paperwork from 2001 apparently it has been updated!!!

@@kevkayla11 Oh yes, that is a sweet tiller. I had a hydraulic 42" tiller which was nice and others have said they like them better, BUT, I always had to get up under the tractor to attach the mid-pto bracket and the hoses had to be fed along and over the rear axle back to the tiller. It tilled very nicely, but I like my King Kutter 4' now which is similar to the 450. In fact if I had found a nice used 450, I would have jumped on it, but they are extremely rare down here.
