Hey everyone!
So, here's one of the most commonly asked questions I get:
How much do dentures and implants cost?
There's no way to give a solid dollar amount but keep watching to get an idea on some ballpark figures!

I just found out last week that basically I'll need every tooth extracted and the dentist would like me to 'take some time, but not too much time' to consider the options and get back to them. I've been spiraling, I've been reeling, I've been curled up in a ball in bed only getting up to feed the cats and use the bathroom. Your videos are helping a great deal however, thank you so much for sharing your experiences and wisdom. While this road is long and almost certainly unpleasant, it's nice to hear you speak with such confidence from the otherside.

I could never understand why we treat dental work differently than other health issues. Dental should be part and parcell with other health concerns and should be treated and covered by all standard medical plans. So many other health related issues can be tied to dental issues, bad teeth and gums can cause eyes, ears, nose, brain and other infections. Dental death is considered the number 1 cause of death in the wild for all primates, and governments know this~ back during the draft people who were deemed to have too problematic dental issues were 4F-unfit for service, until corrected.

$40,000 to $50,000 she says. Who the hell has that kind of money? I certainly don't and I need dentures big time. I'm almost 64 years old and was forced to take an early retirement after losing my job back in '07. Living on $971 a month from SS isn't easy. Thank god I have two great roommates but still, where on God's green earth would I be able to come up with that kind of money, or $2000 for that matter! I'm so damn frustrated, angry and fed up. I hear ya, SharlannaL! I had to go on disability due to a genetic chronic illness when I was 52 so I only get $840.00/mo. I praise God for the angel disguised as a nurse in our hospital's ER who recommended a medical/dental clinic in town that provides free care for those living on a low income. I still need my remaining front teeth pulled and dentures - I posted above about the three different prices I was given. A family member is paying for my work...which is embarrassing but a Godsend. I still think this is all way too expensive.

I found a major cost difference just between two different cities. One city, the larger one, was going to cost about $20,000 for immediate dentures including an oral surgeon for extractions. I was quoted double that to get full fixed bridges like you have. So I put it off for a bit, and then went to another dentist in another city closer to me. He said he could save some of my teeth, do the extractions himself, and do partials. All for about $10,000 total. Huge difference! It definitely pays to shop around. I'm going with the 2nd dentist. While I will be doing this in stages, I can afford this option.

I haven't seen a dental insurance company yet that covers implants, and if they do it's only one or two teeth according to what I've been told. It's a "cosmetic procedure". I was personally told by a dental assistant that they had cancer patients who had lost parts of a jaw and teeth due to chemotherapy, and their insurance still DID NOT help them because it was cosmetic. That's absolutely sickening.

We do 100+ all on 4 procedures in our office a year. The cost of this procedure in the USA and Canada drives our business. We are about a 15 minute drive from Yuma, Arizona and cater to “snowbirds” and American and Canadian “economic refugees” seeking affordable, quality dental care. The all on 4 procedure in our office has a fee of $8,000 per arch for an acrylic appliance. A bit more for ceramic. Implants are from $700-$1100 including abutment and crown. The bottom line is we’ve been able to provide new smiles for may who otherwise could not afford it.

OK, Jerry - go politarded about this. Blame the dumbocrats if you must blame someone. If anyone is really serious about addressing the high costs of dental care in the US, we must go bother our state legislatures first. The state you live in can, and should, pass limitations on medical/dental price gouging. OR, develop good quality dental clinics that charge on a sliding scale for low-income people. IMHO every licensed dentist should donate X amount of hours & service per year to give dental care to the non-rich. Like me!

Well, you know what? I agree with you on most everything you said. We do have good dental clinics that charge on a sliding scale for the low income. Maybe I should not have said anything about the insensitive Republican Congress cause looks like that that struck a nerve for you. I think both sides need to get their shit together and start working on health care and lots of other things together. This one party do all is just not working. The ACA can be fixed and would work. Both parties need to not worry about who gets the damned credit, period. Just get the work done. Oh yes, and it's not just dental care price gouging. It is in our health care system and drug/Prescription meds as well.

@boomer1954ful 6 жыл бұрын
I agree with 1 thing you said, "Both parties need to get their **T together. Actually Washington has it together. They have it all fixed up. For themselves. They stuck their taxpaying constituents with the joke known as the ACA, while they have their wonderful private, group federal health insurance! Plus with their payoffs from the lobbies...that covers THEIR cash for deductibles, copays, (over-priced) prescriptions, plus plenty of money left to party! The ACA is communism. Communism always fails. The ACA is created to fail - so they (the Democrat/communist party) can then implement complete, total, government controlled health care. Complete with 'limited' and 'palliative' care and death panels. For me and you. Do some research. Many insurance companies and hospitals ALREADY give doctors xtra BONUSES for counseling old, troubling patients to go home and die. What works is Direct CARE. A doctor/dentist and his/her patient. No middlemen. No "Insurance" companies. NO GOVERNMENT. If there were enough productive doctors/dentists doing their thing through Direct Care, the natural market price would go down through competition. We'd have healthier patients and happier doctors. Please look up: Dr. Josh Umbaer, Kansas. Never, Never, ever fool yourself into thinking that the Government/ or the sweet BS'ng Democommy party is good, kind, or smart enough to provide lil' ole' you quality health care! ;-{

Hi, I'm 71 and in quite good health except for dental. What bugs me (aside from the astronomical cost and not being covered as healthcare) is that people so often say our tooth loss is due to poor dental hygiene. Some people just have horrible dental genes and other issues. I have always flossed and brushed meticulously. My dental problems started at a very young age with a mouth too small and teeth very crowded and out of alignment. Then a couple of dentists made things much worse. Just irritating to see victim blaming - it's much easier than realizing that we don't have control over everything.

Others have inherited predispositions to decay-prone teeth and/or periodontal disease. I spent $30,000+ trying to save my teeth (not counting what my parents spent in oral surgery, braces, fillings, etc., etc. before I was on my own). I'm 64, a retired Realtor, and I finally decided it's time. I need dentures and/or implants. I saw an ad about "dental implant grants" to help the uninsured. I was given the name of a dentist in my area (Newport Beach, CA) and an appt. was set. I paid $50 for the initial visit and an hour later I was signed up for $70,000 "4-in-1 implants" ($30,000 paid for by grants, pressumably). I have excellent credit and was approved for financing... at 29.99%!!! I have no idea how long I have to pay it off, but I'm pretty sure it's not over a 30 year term. I couldn't sleep all week with worry. I didn't have any idea that implants were so expensive and didn't have any idea what regular denture pricing could be. Not until I saw this straight forward video from someone that wasn't trying to sell me anything. Now I know that removable dentures are the way to go for me. Thanks sweetheart, for sharing this very informative video!

Good job with the talk. As a dentist I think you were pretty solid in bringing insight into the patient complexities of prosthetic options. You nailed it on why expenses can escalate so much: often multiple phases of surgical care, expensive pieces/parts/cad-cam components, labor-staff, training, taxes on every purchased component involved, malpractice cost, bone grafts-augmentation, sinus lifts, authentic state of the art implant systems, long-term adjustment support, etc... I was just visiting mexico and went into an office and saw instruments in a bucket of bleach while befriending a local dentist. Many will hail tourism dental/medical care; however, many of these cases I often see back at my office with the patient asking me: "what went wrong?". Costs to the dentist are high...and unfortunately much of this is passed onto the consumer. Great video.

Thanks for the insight. I never understood the backend of dentistry until I started my channel and was able to spend more time actually talking to professionals outside of the chair. I'm now stuck in an uncomfortable middle position, fully empathizing with both sides of the equation. It's tough for everyone when it comes to tooth loss. Patients want the best quality care because this directly impacts their quality of life. It's not cosmetic. It's about being able to function and so many just can't. I also understand the professional side. The cost of school, maintaining a practice, the stress of the job itself, ongoing training indefinitely.... so I understand why the best care comes with such a hefty price tag. Some patients really do understand why it's so expensive.... but it's hard for them to care when they have dentures that aren't much better than having no teeth at all. I just responded to a comment from a person who hasn't eaten meat in five years. I got a message on instagram from a woman who spent over $75k on a shoddy implant job. It's just hard for everyone involved and I so wish there was a way to bridge that gap and come to a healthy medium. Thanks for watching!

That was a single Mexican Dental Office you encountered & the only observable item found questionable was "instruments in a bucket of bleach". That is not proof of very much. You saw instruments (what were the instruments) in a bucket (what kind of bucket was it, the type hanging over a well to fetch water? specifics?) of bleach (how do you know it was bleach, did you bend over & smell it, dip a finger in & examine it) Just because countries like Mexico do not enjoy the same standard of living that Western Countries is no reason to assume they do not have facilities equal too our own.

I still think it's just shameful greedy highway robbery that anyone would have to pay 40-50 grand for teeth, and 8-10 grand for hearing aids. What a greedy rip off world we live in. Anyway, Glad that you found relief and a prettier smile than what you probably had as a child.

Yes it is in the US, but it doesn't have to be. We went with HebeDoc for my dad and did the all-on-4 for $12,000 instead of $30,000. We financed 80% of it through a medical credit card they helped us with and dad is only paying $300 per month…

the commentary I'm reading breaks my heart, and truly angers me. You'd think that after all these years, that the prices would be reasonable. That 50 thousand a pop on an average of 40 patients a year..the dental student loans were paid off in less than 5 years. But, it is always the low income that suffers. The unlucky. The ones apparently are considered refuse, trash, and deserve nothing, especially teeth so they can work, eat, smile, free from pain.

Those who think dentists are greedy or charge too much really have no idea what they are talking about. Not every dentist can do these complicated cases. If you seek the cheapest dentist, you may be getting what you pay for. I have had to clean-up a lot of bad dentistry, and there is a lot out there that is not repairable. This is a surgery; it is not simply "putting screws" in someone's mouth. There are blood vessels, nerves, sinus, etc. that can cause serious problems if damaged during surgery. Those that have the proper education do have the right to charge this much; we invest a great deal of our time and money into our career. 1. Dental school now costs well over $300,000. This does not count undergrad education. 2. Starting a dental practice costs well over $500,000, even if you are being frugal and purchase just basic equipment and rent space. 3. You do not learn to do these type of procedures in dental school. I took 6 advanced implant classes (over 100 hours of additional training) to get to a level to do basic full arch cases. I invested over $6000/class, flight, hotel + $20,000+ to buy basic implant and bone grafting equipment. 4. To properly plan these cases, you need a cone beam scanner (for 3D xrays) and intraoral scanner (to digitally take impressions). This is an additional $120,000 for the xray unit and $50,000 for the scanner. 5. Each case is different, but we pay several hundreds of dollars for each implant and abutment we place. 6. For one denture (upper or lower), the lab fee is $4000-$6000 to make the denture. 5. No matter what you all think; the money we charge is not what we take home. We have staff that we pay (in my area assistants make well over $20/hr , hygienists make over $40/hr, and front desk makes about $18/hr), supplies/equipment needed to complete these procedures. It may be expensive to most people, but those of us that have invested over $1.5M to provided these services should not be told what we can charge. And those that complain about "greedy dentists", God gave you a perfect set of teeth. You can maintain your perfect teeth by using toothbrush/toothpaste/floss.

Hey girl thanks so much for doing this video. I am at that point right now and I keep putting it off while more teeth break or fall apart because I just had no idea the actual cost or what direction to go. This video really is helping me to bridge that unknown scary area and I can move forward a little more informed and know what expense I really am looking at. From what I saw from your examples and cost scales I think I am just going to go with the upper scale dentures in a nice white. Knowing what direction I can afford to go in and will be amenable to helps me to drop the money just one time and get the best bang for my buck instead of re-do's. Therefore..im pulling 15 thousand dollars aside for premium dentures and I will live with it. Thanks for the timely video.

Thanks so much for taking the time to explain all this. It is overwhelming (and scary). One wonders on how to "shop" for this. What with all the preliminary stuff they have to do just to give you a cost estimate. And some of it seems like it might not arise until after you are well into the process (like surgery to remove excess tissue or grinding bone down to level it). Wow!

I was in a similar situation as you, and I really thought my teeth were beyond saving, but I ended up walking into a dental school one day and learned that my teeth could be saved. Here's how I saved my teeth. 1. I got the acid reflux under control. I discovered that certain foods trigger it for me. These tend to be those processed, boxed, shelf stable foods like pop tarts, stove top stuffing, instant ramen/cup o noodles. Also things with real butter, and certain but not all spiced and acidic items. My diet these days is fresh prepared and not heavy on seasoning. 2. I limited plague causing foods such as crackers and breads, and sugary acidic items like fruit, and eat more vegetables. 3. I cut out soda and most acidic and sugary drinks. These days I drink mainly water, with the exception of milk or sweetened tea in the morning before I brush my teeth, and sometimes in the afternoon or evening. Generally though I drink mainly water. 4. I went to a comprehensive dental school where they did a deep cleaning, replaced all of my leaking fillings, filled all of my cavities and did two crowns. They also gave me high fluoride tooth paste. I go back every 3 to 6 months for a cleaning and they take x-rays every year. I've had some fillings they did replaced due to leakage (white ones) but I've not had any leakage for the past few years, and my teeth have remineralized thanks to the high fluoride toothpaste and getting the reflux under control. 5. I brush twice a day and floss in the evening and I don't let any pain or discomfort go. If I have any sensitivity to sweet or cold foods, or an tooth ache of any kind, I get it checked out.

I also went to Affordable Dentures. I had my last bit of work done this time last year. I already had a custom upper plate (from a year and a half prior cost $450.00 top plate alone). I needed 11 simple extractions on the bottom. I also wanted implants with snap in dentures. I have a small mouth, I needed 4 titanium implants on top & 3 on the bottom. I needed a new top denture at this point as well because they weren't thick enough for the implants. I opted for the premium dentures when I got the implants (top plate was replaced no charge for me, except the upgrade cost I wanted). I wanted a whiter shade so, that was part of my reason for going premium. The higher the grade the whiter the coloring. I also needed additional medication, and bone grafts for all 7 implants. Straight out of pocket no insurance total cost of: 11 extractions, 7 implants, 7 bone grafts, extra medication, upgrade to existing upper denture, purchase of Premium bottom denture for me = $10,980.00 I'm happy with my teeth, get compliments and can go back when I need a different (tighter) band in my dentures for no cost...UNTIL they run out of the bands that came in my original package. Currently, I have only had the band's replaced once. It's been a year and I'm probably going back soon, because I want it more snug. The band's help with snugness. Black is zero pressure. Clear (currently) is the next low pressure. There are two or three band sizes left that I have that I can use. It's nice being able to bite into apples again, corn on the cob. Knowing the stability is there & the risk of bone loss is so much less.

First off thank you for sharing your story, it makes me feel less alone through all of this. I chose to bite the bullet and go with a prosthodontist to the hefty tune of 30k just for an upper arch. That includes the arch, extractions, gum splitting and scraping, bone and tissue grafts and the temp denture as all of this heals. Next week I find out when they will schedule the actual surgery part and fingers crossed it wont be too much longer!

The trick is finding the denture artist in the field of dentures. Dentists I have paid a ton for dentures and received less quality dentures. At Swiss Dentures which I now go to they are about the same price as a dentist but you get much more detail and quality of dentures. The fits are perfect. The higher priced dentures are stronger and do last longer. Another issue is that over time your gums do lose some bone and it is important to get a new denture that fits properly to cut down on the lose of bone and it also makes your face appear more natural. I was young when I did get my first dentures and it was emotionally painful. I am almost 76 and I look young for this age. I always want the best dentures, nice glasses, and a good bed. The heck with the rest of the material things in life. Great video! Thank you for this post!

I was in the process of getting some dental work done back in Feb of 2020. I had saved $3k at that point and really needed dentures on top and bottom but was going to just get the top done due to more need there. I was one of millions laid off during the shut downs due to covid. I qualified for the $600/wk unemployment on top of my states rate which was $250/wk. So that's $850/wk for the four months it was implemented. I went into save mode other than living expenses. Wasn't sure what was going to happen with work and so on but I saved altogether $11k for uncertainty. Btw, I live in KC area so cost of living isn't astronomical. Fortunately, right before the unemployment benefits ran out, my job called me back. I ended up going to Affordable Dentures & Implants because now I had more saved and a little more security with a steady paycheck. I ended up getting upper and lowers done. The uppers are conventional, meaning no implants, due to an infection that needs to heal and so on for proper implantation of the implants but I did get the highest tier denture. The lowers are same tier as uppers but with two snap implants toward back of jawline with bone grafting. The cost was about $7.5k for all of it which included about 15 extractions. I could've had four implants on bottom for that same price but my lower canines were still really good for some reason and the bone width asking the front jawline wasn't ideal for implants. Doable but not ideal. The great thing is that Affordable doesn't charge more than $4500 for the lowers regardless of the amount of extractions and up to four implants. Even if the cost of everything added up individually is more than $4500. Now I will eventually get snap on implants on top which cost about $1k per implant or about $4k for the recommended four but in due time. In the end, total cost for full mouth implants and high tier dentures with extractions and one site bone graft w/o any insurance will be about $11-$12k for me. Insurance may help cover some of the extraction cost so the price could be lower but I decided not to use my insurance on this but instead am using what benefits I have on my two remaining canines to clean and strengthen them considering they are real and will be used as foundation plus the two lower implants. The reason I went through all of this is because this is a cost vid about dentures but also a good case for people to push for a higher minimum wage. I would've eventually achieved these results over a couple years or so through saving a little here and there but the extra unemployment benefits helped speed it up. If you have access to an Affordable Dentures & Implants I'd suggest checking them out. There's a little more included with the price I paid including a 4yr warranty. I hope my story helps anyone out. Remember, you can achieve your goals regardless of the circumstances of your willing to sacrifice in the short term. Any questions about my experience just reply and I'll help as best I can.

@rosazekadunn6317 thank you and trust me, I felt your pain with daily tooth pain. It's been 3 years now with my final dentures and life is 100% better. Confidence is at all time highs both in personal interactions, no more covering mouth while smiling, and eating anything I always avoided before like Iice cream and cereal with COLD milk. If price is an issue I've learned you may see if there is a dental college near you that offers little to no cost extractions. You may also qualify for assistance through state and federal programs if insurance you may have doesn't cover procedures. I went to Affordable Dentures but Aspen dental offers dentures and I believe they take payments. Either way, my biggest hurdle was fear but I realized that my quality of life and longevity of it was impacted greatly because of that fear. I wish you all the luck in the world because first and foremost, you are worth investing in yourself.

He also works in the lab to create each denture custom and wont let you leave until you both are happy with results , I myself chose to go almost a year without teeth to let it all heal normally. I didn't have any sinkage in my face around my mouth. And now I look amazing and most have no clue they are fake. Cost? After insurance..i paid $1800 out of pocket for the teeth and my insurance paid for all of the pre work.

I'm literally at the very beginning of this process and I can't get enough of your videos. Unbelievably helpful!!! Question: How does one go about finding the "right" practice to work with? I live in a larger city on the east coast and just starting the selection process of choosing the right doctor is overwhelming in itself. How many different dentists would you recommend consulting with before making a decision? What criteria for finding the "best competent doctor for the price" is most important? It's just hard to believe some can't be more price competitive than others given how many businesses here are promoting these products. Thanks!

I was in your spot a year ago. I’m now further along in the process and had my lower implants done yesterday and I’m very happy with my two doctors. I have a surgeon and a prosthodontist. What I did was looked up the best dentists in my area. There’s plenty of lists online. I went to a top rated prosthodontist who referred me to a surgeon for the implant work while the prosthodontist handled everything for the actual prosthetic. The most important part is to just call someone, set up an appointment, meet them, and if it feels right then continue with them but if it doesn’t then don’t be afraid to try visiting a different office. I would say just take that first step and pick up the phone and get yourself set up with someone and go from there.

Google low income dental care. The state and town you live in. There should be few clinics near you. They can pull your bad teeth. You pay based on income. This is what I did to get some of mine done I am not finished yet. Dentures they are too expensive from the dentist. Etsy has dentures they send impressions you do them yourself at home. Send them back and for $200 full set of dentures. I realize that is a lot of money. It will take you a long time to save. Eventually you will have teeth. There are ways to fix it but it will not be easy.

Two fell out. Cost was $30,000. It took over one year. It's a tough business. It is not all greed. Their damn bills are so high. Insurance. Equipment. Employees. Taxes. Maintenance. Mortgages. Employee benefits. It never ends. A dentist gave me a quote of $87,000 the year I paid $30,000. I called the place in Las Vegas she speaks of three weeks ago. They had a questionnaire to determine whether my wife would be a good fit for their program. Yes she was. Plus you have to return for maintenance each year. How hard is it to get something asthetic and durable that fits your point of occlusion? NOT THAT HARD. In the end it is aesthetics, acrylic, wire work and porcelain. The hard part may be getting implants to sit correctly and engineering around bone structure but It's not rocket surgery.

I personally started to make a video about 3 or 4 times about what implants cost, I took the itemized sheet that shows what I had done and how much was the cost per procedure or per each item, a list about EVERYTHING. I had to keep starting the video over because I just could NOT explain well enough how each person is going to need different things done, plus I could NOT get a clear price in what it would cost for say something like Zircon Zahn or Zirconia or the Prettau's. All I could do was make a video telling people what the cost was for what I had done, but when I was done it left way to many questions unanswered, especially since I had mine done at the U of Minnesota Grad School Prosthodontics Department, which may NOT be the same commercial price throughout the USA, even though I also have Nobel Biocare Implant's (7 Implants on the top, 5 Implants on the bottom). So if someone asked me what it would cost for maybe less expansive implants or if they wanted something different like the Prettau's, I would NOT be able to answer. Just like you I was asked about the price over and over, but how do you answer what it would hypothetically cost for other?? I just felt like people would say, "That is NOT what Jay Gray said." I decided NOT to make that video until I could get more information, and I still do NOT feel like I have enough, lol. So I never answered the cost, instead I would give people a rough estimate of what I had done and the cost in the comments. Great Video.

I have the Prettau Zirconia bridges. If anyone is interested, I paid $29,000 to my amazing periodontist for the implants, 6 on top, 4 on the bottom. He does not do the restorations. I then found another great dentist who did the final restoration work with the Prettau Zirconia. That cost me $20,000. It's a lot of money but it was so worth it. There is ongoing maintenance with regular cleanings every 3 month (not removing the bridges at those visits) at $140 per cleaning and then a full cleaning with removal of the bridges (which I have not yet done but will in November) at a cost of $500.

Yes, Jay. It was $20,000 for the top and bottom Prettau Zirconia bridges. I had it done in Lake Mary, Florida, by an amazing dentist. I went to the lab, met the staff and they were very involved in my case. Between my periodontist and the dentist, they truly changed my life.

Which is the strongest, safest? Answer that way. Metal is not good in the mouth. My dentures hurt when I eat and I'm vegan, a diabetic, and need to eat. The material used for gums is not pliable and instead is very hard and gums are not hard, so how can anyone wear straight dentures. I surely need help. My looks to sing on stage are gone, and my dentures could slip out so my disability takes precedence. So many people can't work if they can't eat, while the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. The US is so ignorant.

To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? He that has ears to hear, let him hear. Are you saved? Where will you go when you die? Heaven or hell? The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. Although God's creation was created perfect, having no death, sickness and disease, the creation became corrupted through Adam and Eve in them disobeying God. In this rebellion the creation became fallen through the curse of sin and mankind became separated from God. This world is fallen, but God offers reconciliation to him through his provision at the cross. Ultimately God will restore his creation to perfection when he returns but those that who reject his offer of redemption will remain condemned by their sins and go to hell. John 1:1,14 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. [14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us, 1 John 3:8 KJV He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Isaiah 9:6 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. I saw your thumb nail and the title and I thought you were talking about them but that you didn't have dentures. Your teeth look amazing!! I like how they gave them texture and that they don't just look like "Chicklet" teeth, if you understand what I'm saying. They look so natural and perfectly imperfect, which is a very good thing. I would think that since only the dentist can take them out, which I never knew existed, it feels like you have real teeth. I am sure your self confidence went up as well. You are so young so I understand the desire to not feel like you have dentures. As well, if I understand correctly you can feel the roof of your mouth, which is such an added bonus. This video was fascinating. Thank you for sharing. Question: How long will the set of dentures last before you will need to purchase another pair?

I can tell u that just the bottom teeth cost me $27,000. This included the whole procedure, anesthesia, removal of 7 teeth and the temporary lower arch, as well as the permanent lower arch. I wasn't offered "different grades" of teeth. Mine are porcelain and titanium. They look beautiful, but I have food stuck under and around the gum portion with every meal. I need to use a dental pick or water pick to remove food particles. I also now talk with a lisp when I say "s" words. Those are the only two negatives. They function very well, look amazing compared to before.

I appreciate the work you put into making this video and the information. Of course, you are much younger than I am. I had an oral surgeon quote me a price of $40,000. I told him I wasn't spending that kind of money, he said, well we have financing available. I told him, you misunderstood me, I have the money, but I will be damned if I'm spending that much money at my age, on teeth. That was my last visit there. So, then I go to a dental school. At first I started with students, then Covid-19 hit, and this whole process was taking way too long for me. So, I changed to faculty dentist at the same prominent dental school. My insurance covers $2500 per year. I'm not completely done yet, I have to return for an adjustment, but I'm almost done. I haven't received my final bill, but I'm pretty sure my total cost is going to be around $2,000-$3000. I really like the looks of my dentures! They did an amazing job.I still have an appointment for adjustment. I'm glad I changed to the facility dentist, it is much quicker, but it also cost a little more. I could have even moved up to private practice at the dental school, but the cost would have been the same as a regular dental specialist. With facility dentist, he's graduated, but studying a speciality, and then a supervisor will be there also. I have a friend that went to a private dentist, got full dentures, and paid $10,500, and imo, my dentures look a lot better. Luckily, I had a well know dental school fairly close to me. It may be worth checking out if it's an option for you. It's definitely less expensive, and very good quality work. The student dentist also all have a fully graduated dentist supervisor with them, but with the students, it just takes so long, that's why I changed. Thanks

Your teeth are beautiful. My first set were crazy canted like 4 degrees. Then I had to wait 2 years to get a good set made, because the only office that took my insurance couldn't keep a dentist long enough to get the process done. They had to pull a retired head of a denture school in to get me done and it was fantastic.

The dentist i have gone to recently dont really care about my story they just immediately look at me and think im lazy and dont take care of my teeth.but i really wanted to tell my story.i never went to the dentist as a child my family consist of my mother sister brother and me.our father died and my mother is mentally handicapped she loved us but didnt provide very well for us even though she tried as hard as she knew how.going to the dentist and dental hygene were at the bottom of the necessity list.when i 13 i was taken from her and went to the dentist at the foster home i was in. They did all this work and it was the most painful thing i could imagine at the time.fast forward i get to go home i become pregnant with my little girl at 15. All through my pregnancy teeth were breaking off but i wait cause that pain was less then the pain the dentist involks and the rude remarks that they say.at 19 i have to go. a tooth is beyond painful i cant even think its so painful.all i can think is i want it out.it was on the bottom back right molar and at this point it is so broke off next to my gum that he cannot numb the nerve no matter how many time he pokes me with the needle.i shook and sweat and cried my head was drenched when he finally decided to cut it in half and pull it out that way.mind you ive given birth and would have gladly do that as opposed to what he was doing right then. Finally 4 hours later the tooth is out i sit up and he says that this will teach me to take care of my teeth. Walking out i was in full blown attack my chest hurt i couldnt stop trembleing and he was the worst person i had ever met in my life.not knowing very many dentist i hated the two i had seen in my life.i brushed and flossed and tried everything i could to preserve the teeth i had so it wouldn't get any worse to escape haveing to go to the dentist ever again.no matter what i did my teeth were always painful but i could deal with this pain as opposed to going to the dentist.and i took excellent care of my daughters teeth so she would never have to deal with this.at 26 last year my wisdom teeth came in one rotten coming through and a pain so umbarrable it drove me to the dentist once again to find out there impacted and had to be removed. I now have such a great fear of the dentist that anything passed the xray point i break out into a panic attack.in the chair i feel it coming on i spontaniously bust out into tears i cant breath i grab my legs into the fetal position to try to stop myself from shakeing.next to how horrible my teeth look the most embarrassing thing infrount of all these people and i cant stop it i just have to ride out the storm. I leave and get the courage to come back i dont sit in the chair or let them touch my mouth for fear of causing a panic attack again.i talk to the dentist and sitting up show him my teeth he says they are shot and i need to get my wisdom teeth removed.so i was put out and got the wisdom teeth removed.i woke up in pain but was exceedingly happy that i couldn't remeber a thing.so thats done but for a month i havent went back because i dont know what to do.i really dont want dwntures and thw xentist says i dont have a lot of bone to support them to begin with.i really want to get implants but i dont even own a home yet and i refuse to pay what i would pay for a house on teeth.so i suppose i will eventually be getting the dentures.i look at your smile and hope one day i could afford one like it probally when im really old and it wouldnt matter how it looks from my coffin.i was excited to hear your story and you do have a bueatiful smile i am so happy for you. Ill be going soon to get the dentures your video helped me decide that.thank you maybe i wont be so depressed if my teeth didnt hurt all day everyday.and i will be thankful for the smile like you. Sorry for the long story noone else seemed to care and now that i was able to tell someone i feel like i can go get the dentures that i have been evading.my man made smile.thanks for the videos.

I'm sorry you had that ordeal with your teeth. I was thinking about how terrible it would feel to have no teeth and have to have dentures and then, I thought about people who lose their legs or an eye. Would you pass up an artificial eye that would make you look more natural? Or would you rather be on crutches with one leg or have a prosthetic leg? You would have to learn how to use it and it would never be the same as the 'real' thing but it would give you movement and freedom. Try to look at dentures the same way. No one wants to lose all their teeth and regardless of what some insensitive people on here say, many people lose their teeth through no fault of their own. Do what you have to do and try to be as grateful as someone is who gets a prosthetic device. The way we look at difficult things makes them easier or harder to handle. I wish you well.

Honey you need to get dentures asap - or something to protect the bone you have left You can't even get implants if your oral bone isn't solid and strong enough to support it - Then you have to have a bone Graph ( I had this )... I understand your panic and fear. Im a foster mom and had an 11 year old boy here that didn't even know HOW to brush his teeth, I feel so badly for you and Im so sorry you had to go through all that ! Perhaps if you could write this in a letter before your next appointment and drop this off - - BEFORE your appt so they can understand your fears better...I just know one thing for sure - once you have the slightest pain in a tooth - GET TO THE DENTIST ASAP - A cavity can turn into a root canal + crown ... and eventually losing your teeth - Its better to just get a cavity filled before it gets so infected you need a root canal - and once you have a root canal you need a crown .... both of which cost so much more than just a filling!

Dentists hem and haw around because they KNOW full well they are overcharging. Their education didn't cost as much as MD, but you can bet -- their services do! One told me it was due to the cost of the supplies -- the bone powders, cadaver or synthetic, and so forth. I know those things are super high, but ... not everywhere! In Alaska, where I live, a full upper implant is $35-45,000. In Colombia, the exact same implant, with the identical supplies, was $9800! That is SOME difference. Until the US dentists realize they are not worth their weight in gold, (maybe if people would quit paying them so much?), I would suggest not using US dentists. There are many in other countries that do just as good of a job, if not better and you can even get in a vacation the week beforehand! I highly recommend dentists, oral surgeons, and plastic surgeons in Thailand, South American countries such as Colombia and Brazil, and even Mexico has fantastic 'on the border' clinics (they tend to cost more) .... I'm DONE with having my mouth first RUINED my US dentistry, then made worse by them and hey .. the 'fix" for their incompetence cost more than my first home! This dedication to US dentists is insane. (if you have no curve to your palate? dentures will NEVER work!)

I understand that a dentist has to have a lot of knowledge. They can't just stick in implants. Every person is different and there are many considerations, not least of which is how the bite is altered and how that can be corrected. I have terrible tooth grinding and my natural bite is gone which is affecting my TM joint. I have ground 1/2 my teeth away and look like they are baby's teeth. Now it looks like I almost have just half a face due to the jaw misalignment. So some of the cost I can understand BUT when it costs more than a brand new luxury car something is definitely wrong. Also places like NYC, LA and such often charge a lot more than the Midwest and sometimes the South. It is ridiculous and very depressing.

They are great videos, because I am in the midst of getting remaining teeth, bridge, and top denture all upgraded in quality and fit, with a goal to soon go totally with upper and lower 4-point implants. I agree, considering the simplicity of process for implants, it does make you angry considering how important teeth are to a person's entire health wellness and nutrition, how expensive they made it for the person who usually doesn't have $40,000-$50,000 laying around to spend on teeth. Something needs to happen to get control of these unbelievable cost for quality dental care. Even insurance dental plans-policies are a joke to what they will (or won't) cover!

What gets me is the way folks talk and spend $50k like its normal and the typical thing to do. Blue collar middle management with kids usually don't have that kind of savings sitting in a bank waiting to be spent on dentistry. Few people have dental insurance at all or if they do, it covers only basic cavity repair. Its like you see when someone spends $150 k on plastic surgery for a few "feel good" procedures and seemingly don't have a $200k per year job. Where does all this money come from? The last time I went to an oral surgeon for a root canal, he said "Oh btw, I want to take out your wisdom teeth while I'm in there." I asked whats 'that going to cost me ?' He very calmly and without missing a beat said $7500 if you pay cash. All during the other procedure he was talking about his new mercedes and his "latest" trip to the Bahamas and what a fabulous place he stayed in. $$$$ Needless to say, he only did the 1 root canal.

The advice of good brushing, flossing plus professional cleaning twice per year ,pricey sealants and countless co-pays and hours in a dentist chair was all a bust because of my disorder. It's incredibly frustrating that a medical diagnosis directly related to my current dental issues matter not in the least to have medical coverage overlap in some way or be justification for payment of dental treatment just as any other medical procedure /prescription/ therapy or medical supplies related to my diagnosis would be considered for coverage.

It depends on the price. Every dentist are going to have various price rangers. I was looking at denture implants because my teeth are going bad quick. Usually, there are affordable ways of paying for the treatment, for example, monthly installments. Dentists today are usually quite flexible. It's not only the cost of the denture implants to think about, but the extraction cost. I know that our NHS only deal with those awkward wisdom teeth at the back.

My thoughts are - if you need some dentures - go with personal recommendations from friends or relations on dentists. Secondly - in this world you do tend to get what you pay for except when it gets very expensive. Thirdly - the law of diminishing returns cuts in - doubling the price doesn’t double the quality. Speaking as a clinician - I am a dentist - my advice is to judge a potential dentist on their attitude - are they keen to sell you something? Or are they genuinely interested in providing what you want? Be it high end or affordability; a talented clinician should be able to provide either a service or point you to a more appropriate service provider.
