As a man, i agree there is a lot of work that needs to be done regarding sexism and respect towards women in STEM. Furthermore, i can say that as an Indian-american college student, misogyny is still highly prevalent in my society back in india and i wish i could change that as well. Baby steps, but i wish the world to be a better place 👍

So im not sure what this woman is talking about or why she had to make it a thing when she doesnt even know what shes talking about… I will say the industry is about 50% caucasian, but i see that number going down as more people become interested in the field.

Its that simple. I've seen way more ageism than sexism. Generally speaking in my field its the loudest mouths struggle to meet the workload requirements. Its a unisex issue. They also tend to be the biggest complainers. I've had lots of female peers come in hot trying to change everything a month after being hired, then they get in their feelings about being told no. There is a very large Hispanic population here, they often get grants thru the state and local college. Most of the people I know who are in college are either women or latino lol. However, advocating for yourself as a women is important when negotiating salary. Men are typically more aggressive. I would love to see more women being stern in negotiating the salary they deserve.

When I was in school I knew so many women with that same twisted mentality. My subject of study was Welding. Interestingly enough, there were girls there. Quite a few actually, all lesbians which was good bc I was the only gay man there. All the girls already had the “men don’t take me seriously” attitude. I remember asking one of them why she thinks that and she struggled to give a believable situational example. They also thought the Instructor was sexist bc he graded their welding and all got like 5/10 when most of the boys got 7-8/10 to 10/10 (which btw getting a 10/10 is HARD everything needs to be perfect) One of the girls showed me her welding and it’s all wiggly. I had no idea how she did that. But my best guess is just the fact that the girls, even tho they are lesbians and claim that they can do what men do, simply can’t handle the massive heat or the heavy welding nozzles for long periods of time. And that’s okay. Even myself, as a man know my limits. I can’t stand there with a 45lbs giant angle-grinder grinding away at massive I-beams for 8hrs straight. With only a 10min break and a 30min in between. At the end of it all, I just don’t understand why some women just refuse to believe that men and women are different. Heck, that everyone is different.

@@ShawnteAmoure it's funny because I'm one of the only people she feels comfortable venting to. I'm a listener and I make peace with everyone on the team. Shes a great person outside of work, but when it comes to being a flowing, adapting member of a team handling complex objectives, it's a different story. I can see clearly the only reason she's not well received by others is that her personality is extremely grating and she complains about everything as if she's the only one going through it. She falls back on her excuse of being the only woman, when I've seen her be extremely difficult in many situations. Other team members have fought for her in many situations giving her the benefit of the doubt, and yet she will still play the victim when things don't go her way. I'm calling it exactly like it is.
