Dental assistants do not necessarily have to go to school. I got a job in CA without any school or experience as a Dental assistant and I can get my registration as a dental assistant after 15 months on the job as long as I finish all their requisites. In the other hand dental hygienists must go to school and it takes 4 years, so it's 2 years of pre requisites + 2 years of school.

Most Dentists will not pay a DA that much . Few and far between .

I am in North Dakota but know of other states that will pay that much, it depends completely on your skill set

It’s important to ask for a 3month review with your boss and asking them to have a one on one with you so they take you seriously. Remember to write down your achievements and prove them that you deserve more.:)

Hey there! :) out of high school, I went to college to do teaching bc my mom has been a teacher since I was born BUTT while I was in college, she QUIT 😂 she said the kids were too annoying so I decided to persue something else. I wanted something fast and something in the healthcare related field and I found this! :D to be a dental assistant you have to get your certificate which is done by taking an accredited course online or in person and passing the online exam and sending in a whole bunch of documentation xD As for the youtube ideas... idk I just think of them late at night xD i think about what I would have liked to see before becoming a dental assistant and what would have helped. :) THANKS FOR THE QUESTIONS ^.^

Oh no we never use general anesthesia BUT we do use other forms of sedatives! Like nitrous, halcion, valium. Nitrous is the *laughing gas* and halcion and valium are the pills that make you fall asleep and forget you were even at the dentist getting a root canal. So far I have only seen general anesthesia done in oral surgery offices. And I am so glad! Back in school rct’s were peoples least fave thing to do, but it can actually be really fun. And I hope you find the right place for you ^.^

Yes I am able to live comfortably. It very much depends on your circumstances though. I have a husband and the rent in our old place was super cheap so we were able to save up.

Yes. I make 33 an hour for 40 hours a week. You can live very comfortably depending on circumstances 😉 single. Children. Etc.

No additional classes necessary :) just general knowledge of rct procedure was needed. Since they had alot of fancy technology there, they just trained me on how things are done. They let me shadow for a while before they actually put me chairside :3

I agree 💯 but sometimes you just have to rip off the bandaid and ask xD they can either say yes or no or later 🤷🏻‍♀️ And thats a nice idea for a video! But basically a specialty office is able to find canals that general dentists cant find, they can clean it (irrigate the canals) better, and see better with their use of microscope. Basically lessening the chance that the rct won’t work :3

Yes 100 percent! They barely teach Endodontics in dental assistant school :/ they knew this and trained me up real good. Its very repetitive though so it was easy to learn.

no a lot of dental hygienist programs are 2 years. but u do need prerequisites so keep that in mind

Just apply and check to see if the doctor is willing to train some doctors like newbies because they are easy to mold to what they want good luck 😊

Hey there! Thank you! And you can apply for a dental assistant program straight out of high school! :D that’s the cool part of being an RDA you can jump into the profession right away. There are some colleges that offer dental assistant classes but it will be cheaper and faster to do a short 12 or 6 week program 👍🏽 Hope this helped! And goodluck ^.^ Goodluck

@@alexamurillo3219 I would suggest not wasting time and going straight to hygiene school. Take it from someone who’s been an assistant for 6yrs! You will get paid so much more and live a lot more comfortably! If someone would have guided me at your Age I would have gone straight to hygiene school . Don’t waist the time or money on assisting school if you know you want to be a hygienist! Go straight to hygiene school pls you’ll thank yourself later! ❤️

DEPENDS the state every state have different requisites. for me i didnt have to do any course because i am a dentist already, but check if you need any X-rays certifications

Check in with your dental board website (you need to take a couple classes online so you’re updated with the protocols 25units) it should guide you through there or call the school you graduated from.

U don’t need a bachelors or grad school

It depends where you live! I’m in California, and the program I’m taking right now is two semesters at my community college! I have my general ed done, so I will be getting an Associate’s, but you can just get the certification. To become registered, you have to pass the state board exam
