How Much Land You Need To Farm Uk - When it comes to living on your land and starting a small farm you may be surprised at just how little amount of land you need. There are so many rural businesses you can start on small parcels of land but for some reason, people are looking to purchase too much land to handle
Remember the more land you have the more it costs to take care of and the more time it takes. If you start small you can always grow bigger it and when needed but most small market farmers don’t need to grow.
They are happy with putting all their efforts into turning their small patch of land into the best farm possible.
Using modern methods of farming, crop rotation and permaculture they are producing so much and they use mostly manure-based compost or their own homemade compost which produces. The very best salad greens and micro greens etc without the need for modern man-made fertilisers

Dear sir , I am trying to make a national orchard and private freehold allotment purchase group/groups. Please can you give your opinion on my leaflet effort? I have owned land in the past but got badly beaten by the council gang. I have learned all of the rural planning stuff. I notice many people seeking suitable land, as I am , but this time I only want Half of an acre. A national organisation could make land available to hundreds if not thousands of people at good prices. Private Freehold Orchards and Allotment Land Buyers Club. Please give this leaflet to someone you know who would like to own or rent a small amount of land where they would grow orchard fruit, veg, nuts, herbs and flowers and have their own private place for simple leisure pastimes, holidays and relaxation where we can come and go as they like when they like. A quarter acre is 35 yards by 35 yards (1225 square yards) and each one would cost somewhere between £2,500 - £3500 if purchased in a temporary mutual group. The land registry fee for each of our private freehold properties would be £30 each. (Each owner can sell their land whenever they like.) These plots will increase in value on day one and more when they are established as superb gardens, and more with time. We would all have to chip in a little on a mutual access/car parking area. The food production could be done in any way each person chooses, low, medium or high input, or fallow, meadow or woodland. The only rule would be respect, which includes weed control so we don’t infest our neighbours with pest plants and hedge control. There are loans available for interested people at 2% interest per year over ten years. APPLES, PLUMS, CHERRIES, PEARS, QUINCE, GAUGES, GRAPES, HAZELNUTS, WALNUTS, CHESNUTS. POTATOS, TOMATOES, CABBAGE, CAULIFLOWER, BROCCOLI, LETTUCE, RADISH, PARSNIP, BEETROOT, ONIONS, CARROTS, BEANS, PEAS, SQUASH, HERBS, STRAWBERRIES, RASPBERRIES, GOOSEBERRIES, BLACKBERRIES, BLUEBERRIES, GARLIC, GINGER, SWEET POTATO, TURNIP, SWEDE, ETC
