You did a great job on this video , best i have seen so far. I have lived in Angeles City for 6 years. I love the place i live , Kandi Tower 3, great everything , pools best in town , great gym best in town, one of the best restos in town, i am going to die here. I think a lot of your followers are very good with there numbers for their own life style . I budget $2500 per month . No rent , i own my condo. Rent is about $650 per month but you get a great place. Most of my money i spend on adventure flying here or there for such little money . Had one flight recently , a little over a one hour flight , less than $40 round trip. If you come here try to hit a few islands and see the beauty and friendly people of this country, its amazing.

You don't need a round trip ticket to come here. You only need an exit ticket. That ticket can be to anywhere outside the Philippines. I've used a ticket to Malaysia and one to Hong Kong on different occasions. They were real tickets and really inexpensive. There are services that could in theory make it less expensive, but I felt more comfortable with real tickets that I book and control. In theory one could book a refundable ticket and cancel the reservation after arriving on Philippine soil. I have not tried that approach yet either.

@surveyguyor8958
@surveyguyor8958 4 жыл бұрын
for the most part i agree with your numbers. At $10,000 the person should have an income/pension of $1000 per month. If a person is good with their money, and they have $150,000 they could live there for 10 years. Of course there are people that have a lavish lifestyle (drinking starbucks every day) those people better have the $10,000 plus an income of $3000 per month. Seems impossible to me to spend that much, but I've seen people do it. I also think that if you have a "Vacation" maybe you want to fly to go SCUBA or to a nice white sand beach for 4 nights (can't fly for 24 hours after SCUBA) then each trip (once per month??) you will spend a minimum of $350 for accommodation, food, air fare, scooter rental. (i travel cheap, if you want a nice american style hotel, add another $100)

My plan since I’ll be retiring from Navy after 20 years I’ll have my investment portfolio and Navy retirement which will be a bit over $2,000 a month. With all the video I’ve watched and your doesn’t seem like I even will have to get a job, but will need to be good with my money especially in the beginning. I do want to maybe get a job or my wife will so that someone is taking care if the kiddos and one parent is working but wasn’t looking to have a full time job since family is where I want to be. If you move to any country it should be to a place in which money should not be an issue. If you move because you can live on “only $X/month” then save everyone the trouble and stay home. Whatever you plan to spend, you should have a steady income of at least 25% more than what you plan to spend. And be sure to have plenty of backup money in case you have an emergency.

I never understand why people think it costs a fortune to live in the Philippines. The philippine people don't make or have that big money and they survive. Don't go to fancy hotels with the swimming pools, the fancy restaurants with the high prices.

I think the key is you already had an income coming in. After 2-3 years in Thailand. Some trips exploring Vietnam,Cambodia,PI and Colombia I find I spend about the same in all of them. One place I might spend more on housing, visa or food but in the end they are all very affordable if you aren't in the bars. I think the thing that gets overlooked a lot on these Asia budget videos is still saving for retirement and healthcare.

What if I bring an investment portfolio, say one that produces say $1000-2000USD per month in profit, sometimes much higher. I just can't imagine that being enough in here in Canada. Being an investment it would carry over to almost any country I go to. A mixture of low risk and high risk assets. Given That I have learned quite a bit of technical analysis. and still have all of my original investment 2 years later trading the most volatile thing in existence(bitcoin) and even turned a profit, goes to show im not super worried about my portfolio going belly up. Just a note: this is for 2-10 years in the future. The wide range is because I can't predict how much of the higher paid oilfield work I get esp with the current economic and political climate in Canada. 10 years if the economy is F___ed. 2 years If I can get back to the good jobs. A matter of being able to add $1000 per year to it. Or $20,000

I moved to the Philippines about 14 years ago without any monthly income into this day I have no monthly income because I’m only 56 not old enough to collect Social Security but when I came to the Philippines I had over $240,000 saved up so you don’t necessarily need to have a monthly income providing that you come over here with a very large lump sum of money then you’ll be OK but just 10 or $20,000 won’t be enough but come over here with a couple hundred thousand dollars then I would say you’ll definitely be OK for many decades

Yes but if you’re retired if you’re officially retired you don’t wanna risk your money in any investment all the years I’ve been here I have never put that over 200,000 in any investment kept it straight in a savings account it’s too risky because if something goes wrong and you lose it now guess what your old most likely you have health problems you can’t go back to work and start over again the worst mistake you could ever make is investing your money once you are officially retired that is a huge mistake

You’re not really losing all that much to inflation maybe a couple percent but once you’re retired investing is not worth it you have to take into consideration your age would you be able to go back to work if you lost that big pile of cash remember even in an index fund if the market crashes you’re gonna lose money to put in cash once you’re retired until you retire invest but when you call it quits you got to stay in cash to protect that principle

@78swats 2 жыл бұрын
@@Traveling-boomer I don't disagree with your viewpoint. Just like you, I want to be there when I am around 57, and live on my savings until 62, so 5 years. After 62, SS+10K per year from savings, I can live comfortably for 20 years (assuming, I will have 200K @ 62). But what worries me is if I outlive my savings account, I will be limited to living on my SS only for rest of the period. I still have 2 more years before I make the move. So, over the next 2 years, I am planning to put away the money that I don't need until 62 into some stable stocks like Home Depot, Visa/MA, Costco/Walmart, Boeing, Merck, LMT. The key is to average out the cost over 2 years. Betting on USA is a always good bet IMO, one can't lose. After such a wild bull run last few years, some drop is expected anyway this year and next year. And it's a good time to buy. My plan is perfect LOL. I can't wait to come to Philippines.

I appreciate your videos. Some constructive criticism that you may want to consider. You've made several statements in multiple videos about something that's very important to you ( bordering on almost a pathological "need") to be the token white man in a foreign land. "The Marco Polo " complex as you call it comes off as sort of desperate/insecure. Some may interpret this as "I couldn't get a decent looking / desirable personality girlfriend in the U.S. so, I came to a third world country were the indigenous population of women are so desperate that they'll throw themselves at any foreigner as means to end of crippling poverty for their family." This mindset is disrespectful to the women of the Philippines and may be source of hatred for the men directed towards foreign visitors in the country. I'm not saying that such is the case with you. You just may want to consider "dialing back" the comments that could potentially be offensive or inflammatory to the citizens of the host nation that you're a VISITOR in.
