Dubai Vlad I'm fresh out of college with a finance and marketing background. With the financial sector currently in a rough patch, I pursued marketing at a multinational and got an offer for 10.5k + petrol+phone credit+4k one-time housing settlement+medical. Additionally, I have family status with free tickets home yearly (I obviously don't have a family). I'm pretty career-oriented and plan on going out once a week max. I went to high school in Abu Dhabi and am familiar with the region. Good offer?

Hello Vlad, sorry old thread and tiring question.. I have been offered $275,000Dhr a year. It's $13000 a month base with $10,000 in expenses.I live quite modestly but would also like to save AND maybe once or twice a month do something exciting, Shark adventure, water park etc.. Do you think this is a comfortable salary? I'm joining quite a big company with massive future potential, it's also in an industry that is dwindling here so that is my main motivation. I'm quite happy living in a single bed apartment around Sports or Motor City for 50/65k.. I also don't drink so I think that will save me a lot of money too : ) Hope to hear from you !!!

I guess it really comes down to what kind of lifestyle a person wants to have. I agree that a large majority of people do not make that kind of money, but if someone truly wants to live that kind of life and have the more expensive things in life, then they find a way to get it.

I've been to Dubai for vacation, but I'd never want to live/work there. 25,000 ($6800) per month sounds really good, except that you're basically spending $5500 of it on food, rent, and recreational activities. In China I make around $3500 per month, but when you take into account that my apartment is free and the school where I work provides me with free breakfast and lunch, my only real expenses are dinner and coffee. So I'm spending around $200/month and the rest is saved and invested. I'll take China over Dubai. Plus I can actually walk outside in the summer here in Beijing. I couldn't do that in Dubai without feeling miserable.

Do you think I can make it the first year till I get used to the county and find a better job!? Hi Mslena, thank yo for your question. Humm let me try to break it down. You can definitely come on a tourist visa and try and approach potential jobs, if you are succesful enough, you will only need to leave the country and come back when your visa is ready. In terms of how fast you can find jobs, the general answer is that the job cyclefrom initial interview to getting hire is usually 2 months time. (Do not try to find work in summer it will most likely only be a waste of time. Best month to look for work are September all the way to March. Best of luck!

+Ahmed Gypsy King Adam 1) Your company will pay for you as part of the contract (but that's usually for westerns). 2) You take a bank loan. 3) You save some money before you come to Dubai. 4) Live in a shared apartment until you save some money here. Keep in mind that some landlords accept 2-4 cheques, but it's usually slightly more expensive than paying in one cheque.

ahmed it depends on how much you earn. another option is to live in hotel apartmemts where most will accept monthly payment. this will of course be more expensive but jjst depends on how mjch u can afford. then u have to think of ur living costs, food etc. a lot of people have this idea that dubai is amazing and they can earn a lot of money but thats wrong. u cn earn a lot of moneu IF u are in the right sector such as banking and im sorry to say it but a westerner or have a western passport

Nop if the accommodation and food is free from the company. 850aed is enough to live a simple life in dubai.

+Zain Zain that the slave mentality they give workers.. I don't mean to be rude but it's true. my brother earns 1500 aed a month and has accommodation and free drinks, sport activities and health insurance but at the end if the day, he lives with three other people in a 1 bedroom apartment, he can't afford a licence let alone a car and it's pretty much impossible to leave the accommodation and do fun activities like go for a movie with friends.. :/

Yup i can understand your concern ethan. I believe i have been stuck in a modern century slavery. Capitalism sucks :(

Zain Zain yeah it does. But don't let it get you down. If you have great friends and just be happy, nothing can bring you down :)
