I visited dubai this summer(my sister in law lives there) and i've found it pretty cheap. Things that will gobble up your salary are rent and luxury goods. Also don't expect a lot of cultural stuff, the place and people are superficial.

Dubai Vlad I'm fresh out of college with a finance and marketing background. With the financial sector currently in a rough patch, I pursued marketing at a multinational and got an offer for 10.5k + petrol+phone credit+4k one-time housing settlement+medical. Additionally, I have family status with free tickets home yearly (I obviously don't have a family). I'm pretty career-oriented and plan on going out once a week max. I went to high school in Abu Dhabi and am familiar with the region. Good offer?

Hello Vlad, sorry old thread and tiring question.. I have been offered $275,000Dhr a year. It's $13000 a month base with $10,000 in expenses.I live quite modestly but would also like to save AND maybe once or twice a month do something exciting, Shark adventure, water park etc.. Do you think this is a comfortable salary? I'm joining quite a big company with massive future potential, it's also in an industry that is dwindling here so that is my main motivation. I'm quite happy living in a single bed apartment around Sports or Motor City for 50/65k.. I also don't drink so I think that will save me a lot of money too : ) Hope to hear from you !!!

I guess it really comes down to what kind of lifestyle a person wants to have. I agree that a large majority of people do not make that kind of money, but if someone truly wants to live that kind of life and have the more expensive things in life, then they find a way to get it.

I've been to Dubai for vacation, but I'd never want to live/work there. 25,000 ($6800) per month sounds really good, except that you're basically spending $5500 of it on food, rent, and recreational activities. In China I make around $3500 per month, but when you take into account that my apartment is free and the school where I work provides me with free breakfast and lunch, my only real expenses are dinner and coffee. So I'm spending around $200/month and the rest is saved and invested. I'll take China over Dubai. Plus I can actually walk outside in the summer here in Beijing. I couldn't do that in Dubai without feeling miserable.

Helpful on time video.. I am a junior electrical engineer and I can't find a suitable job since I don't live in Dubai.. But I got a job opportunity as a call center agent for 6000 at Ajman. Do you think I can make it the first year till I get used to the county and find a better job!? According to my calculations I will spend 2000 on renting a studio 1500 on food and water, 1500 on transportation and 1000 a little bit of fun.. What do you think? By the way, I'm from Egypt.

Hello Me and my Husband are thinking to move to Dubai but he is looking for a JOB first now and my question is, Do we need a work Visa or a Resident Visa Card before we come ? is there cheap apartments or condos in Dubai to live in or do we have to roommate with people? You think if my husband came there would he be able to find something fast? ( I know thats hard to answer because you dont know him but we owe a couple small cell ohone business in the US and he is thinking to open one in dubai but not sure how expensive it is to do that.? We are not rich by all means and we are looking for a fresh start and we like Dubai. Please reply and let me know sorry for all the questions.

Hi Mslena, thank yo for your question. Humm let me try to break it down. You can definitely come on a tourist visa and try and approach potential jobs, if you are succesful enough, you will only need to leave the country and come back when your visa is ready. In terms of how fast you can find jobs, the general answer is that the job cyclefrom initial interview to getting hire is usually 2 months time. (Do not try to find work in summer it will most likely only be a waste of time. Best month to look for work are September all the way to March. Best of luck!

This is a good video with good questions from viewers. Thank you for sharing your experience Vlad. I used the currency exchange calculator; it appears 25,000aed monthly is equivalent to $6,800usd monthly.

Can anyone explain the paying once per year for an apartment ? How would i be able to do that ? I'm looking forward to live a decent life style, mostly buy home made meals, instead of eating out. Use public transportation normally, of coarse have some fun here and there. How much is needed ?

+Ahmed Gypsy King Adam 1) Your company will pay for you as part of the contract (but that's usually for westerns). 2) You take a bank loan. 3) You save some money before you come to Dubai. 4) Live in a shared apartment until you save some money here. Keep in mind that some landlords accept 2-4 cheques, but it's usually slightly more expensive than paying in one cheque.

+Ghassan Younis Great Answer Ghassan, you pretty much stated all the ways to do this, the bank loan will be an issue if you are seeking employment while you are house hunting. Goodluck!

ahmed it depends on how much you earn. another option is to live in hotel apartmemts where most will accept monthly payment. this will of course be more expensive but jjst depends on how mjch u can afford. then u have to think of ur living costs, food etc. a lot of people have this idea that dubai is amazing and they can earn a lot of money but thats wrong. u cn earn a lot of moneu IF u are in the right sector such as banking and im sorry to say it but a westerner or have a western passport

+Zain Zain that the slave mentality they give workers.. I don't mean to be rude but it's true. my brother earns 1500 aed a month and has accommodation and free drinks, sport activities and health insurance but at the end if the day, he lives with three other people in a 1 bedroom apartment, he can't afford a licence let alone a car and it's pretty much impossible to leave the accommodation and do fun activities like go for a movie with friends.. :/
