Yeah about the Green Belt… it is perfect for moving into Quality Engineering/Management roles and will pay anywhere from 70-100k. I have two coworkers who got their Green Belts and got new jobs very close to six figures within a couple months. One without a college degree. So it is very possible!

To enter the field, you need some experience….in the field. I suppose you could get a lean six sigma yellow belt, find an entry level role, practice on the job using the tools- and move on to Green belt and larger role (and salary)

After watching this video I realized that I am a High yellow belt and possibly a green belt without even noticing. I am studying to apply for a Manufacturing Engineering position at my current company. I have been apart of projects for many years but never 80% of the time since I was always a technician or Lead Mechatronic or in maintenance. The manufacturing engineer will be at the 80 percent or more with LEAN 6 sigma as the main function. Thanks for this very simple video explaining the different belts.

I'd definitely say now that Green Belts if they are senior level or management types can do six low six figures in a profitable industry/large company. (I say this from direct experience) TRUE black belts (I'm currently knee deep in Statistics-Probability A-Z and the black belt knowledge areas) I've seen an average of 150k for very good ones (not the fake belts out there people claim they have but haven't practiced in 10 years) then again that would go for any profession like project managers where you can find a dime a dozen but for some reason truly methodical, experienced ones are a bit rare. Great video! It's pretty close to spot on as it was 2020 back then...now everything is just going higher of course. I suggest is to train others, practice practice practice and learn all the newest and related methodologies besides learning from different sources on LSS which varies by trainer/website. And learn statistics/probability!! And finally nothing can train someone for just being a good person that is open minded, can empathize with others and can adapt intelligently to any situation.

Hell Chad. I have recently purchased a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Course with simplilearn. The program looks thorough. However, my predicament is that a Colleague has advised me to pursue this certification from ASQ. I can tell you the price difference is significant. Is there any benefit to getting this certification through ASQ website?
@learnkaizen
@learnkaizen 3 жыл бұрын
ASQ is definitely the more respected organization. It’s where I received my Black Belt. However, the most important thing is that you’re able apply the information within the Body of Knowledge. It will take years to get proficient. When you’re proficient - it won’t matter where you earned your cert. The issue with most certifying organizations is that the content is weak and doesn’t force the student to learn as much as possible. ASQ will force you to study and learn most of the BoK due to the rigorous exam. If I had to chose - I’d chose ASQ. You probably knew that already but that doesn’t mean Simplilearn shouldn’t be pursued if that organization offers something that fits your learning style and schedule! Hope this helps. Good luck! Let me know if you have more questions.

In January I started my journey to get my Black Belt. It all started with getting my White Belt for free through the Aveta Institute. I purchased the Black Belt program; it was about half off as a Covid discount. It was normally about $999 and I paid about $499. Since then, I have received my Yellow and Green Belts. What has helped me the most is taking Applied Statistics in college.

@jacquelineharger1691
@jacquelineharger1691 3 жыл бұрын
@@sixsigmamania it really depends on the individual and their personal ambitions. It is very easy to get your certifications from White-Black Belt. They have a Black Belt Level II and Level III, for those you must complete a project. Then there is the Master Black Belt which you must also complete a project. The tests are not proctored. The additional levels are $200 each. You have to take a quiz for each chapter and receive each certification along the way. Someone could literally pay for the program and look up the answers in the book and take the quizzes without having applied themselves. Again, it really depends on the individual's intentions. The class is self-paced but has to be completed within a year; an extension can be requested if needed.

Trying to change career fields by using Six Sigma Certifications. I plan on earning the White Belt but Skipping the Yellow Belt and going straight to the Green Belt Certification. I am currently working in IT but I want to work in higher level operations, any suggestions?

My first suggestion would be to get into my Free Business Improvement Mastermind Membership. The link below will take you to a page where you can watch a video and see the 2022 schedule. It will help you. My second suggestion is to find the white belt information for free online. There’s no need to pay for that level. Then get your yellow belt, green and black. I recommend ASQ (recognized around the world) but the exam must be taken at a testing center and some people don’t like this…so Villanova University also has a great line up of courses - all online. Then there is IASSC and the Council for Six Sigma Certifications…these are the ones I recommend…ASQ is at the top (just my opinion). Here is my site where you can learn more about the Membership: www.learnkaizen.com/

Hi I have a question here , I am only beginning my career with banking industry 2 year currently at the supervisory level , which level would you suggest and what position would be most preferable even after getting yellow belt ?
@learnkaizen
@learnkaizen 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question. In my experience, belt level isn’t as important as application of the tools. For example: suppose person ‘A’ has a yellow belt but can’t identify 8 wastes in a given process…but person ‘B’ doesn’t have a many belt but has experience and can identify the 8 wastes and reduce those wastes…person ‘B’ is more valuable….now to answer your question… What position/title would a yellow belt be most suitable for….well, I’d they are a new yellow belt with little to zero applicable experience…maybe a supervisor or below…if they have a Yellow Belt with demonstrated application of the tools to improve the businesses they work - manager, Director, VP…etc…the point here is that while the achievement of any belt is great - it pales in comparison to actual application of the tools. So It’s ability over belt. Hope this helps.

This is a great question-I get it often! Also, congrats on pursuing your degree! As for certifications, it depends on your current knowledge of lean and six sigma. If you have zero knowledge of lean and six sigma, I’d start at white belt…don’t pay for it!!! You can find pretty good training at the white belt level for free. Google: Go Lean Six Sigma..:I believe they have some free training at the white bet level…once you have a good grasp on the information - jump to Yellow Belt. It depends on the field and experience. If there is a lot of data used in your field, the tools will enable you to assemble and analyze the data from a statistic angle to make decisions. I’m not sure if this will increase the salary. However, having this skill-set is unique in many fields which is the reason for high salaries. Review the tools and ask yourself if these tools are applicable in your field of work-then learn how to use the tools to help your industry the best way possible. The money will follow.

I’d consider the company’s because it doesn’t matter where you get the certification as long as they teach a body of know similar to ASQ. The company cert should be free (guessing) and I’d assume by going outside the company to get a certification that’s also offered by the company you work for- may seem like you don’t value the companies certification. Do you feel the company would give project priority to candidates who went through the company program? I know I’m making a lot of assumptions - just trying to convey my thoughts with limited information. The primary reason is because it doesn’t matter where you get the cert. It only matters if you can use the tools to deliver results. Hope this helps! Thanks for commenting and being part of the channel.

I don’t know...it varies. I was just giving a baseline for folks. Do a quick job search and see what the salaries are... They use lean 90% of the time and if they ever touch six sigma it’s very basic and certainly not at the Black Belt level…I’d argue, not even the green belt level. This may vary in different hospitals but I’m seeing six sigma fade away - even in manufacturing. This is non-sense when Bill Smith at Motorola came up with this he never put any of this in the process. There is no governing body of six sigma and no one sets the rules on how or what you do in six sigma. Just use your common sense and don't buy into this stuff, champions, executive sponsor, process owners, white belts or any other of this garbage, stick to proven Quality methods like Deming said, not a gimick.
@learnkaizen

Reducing process variation and developing a controlled process isn’t nonsense. This is the core of Six Sigma. DMAIC is an incredible problem solving methodology and is a great framework for creating standardized problem solving. Having champions, team leaders, ect. is simply a beefed up RACI.....as far as belts go, I can see where this may cause either confusion or upset folks that are against six sigma. I don’t care either way about the belt system...but having worked in Japanese automotive for 12 years and aerospace for 7 years - I can tell you that six sigma is used and it does work....if you know how to apply the concepts. Process variation reduction is not a gimmick...six sigma is just a phrase attached to the framework. As an industrial engineering student (over 20 years ago) - the same information was taught - without the phrase attached....but six sigma was covered in my undergraduate and graduate studies. Appreciate your comment but respectfully disagree with most of what your saying....kind regards! 🙏

@@learnkaizen I also respectfully disagree with you, having 45 plus years of experience in manufacturing a Masters in Industrial Technology, Six Sigma has never solved one problem on the plant floor, it has been the experience machinist, inspector, technicians knowledge that has applied the problem solving skills using the basic quality methods that Deming applied in Japan (that is why Toyota tells you they don't do six sigma, they just ask why, why, why, why, why). Six Sigma sends you off in goffy projects that don't produce results that experience does, I'll trust my master machinsts knowledge over some data entered into a control chart anyday.

Okay...no problem. I don’t have a masters in IE...I do have a BS is IE and an MBA...(not that the MBA has relevance in our discussion. I don’t have 46 years like you either so I respect your experience....I do have 25 years of experience... You’re right about six sigma not solving problems...because it’s not a problem solving tool - it’s a systematic method of measuring process variation (voice of the process) as it relates to specification limits (voice of the customer).... the only aspect in problem solving involving Six Sigma is DMAIC which, again, is a great framework. The 5 Why analysis you reference is great on simple problems...more complex problems require a little more that just asking why. Data is needed and data that extends beyond qualitative data...I learned this working. for the Japanese and spending time with mentors in Japan. You can trust your Master Machinist knowledge...that’s your prerogative....but what about people who don’t have your level of experience? Understanding trends and control charts is important. By the way, control charts are taught in Industrial Engineering (also used in six sigma)....I think if we sat down and had a discussion we’d probably find out we both agree more than disagree.
