If you don’t mind me asking , how much was the class? I’m working on a coaching academy for green belts and black belts - specifically designed to supply students with all the materials needed in a kit (mailed to them) - plus an online study system and 1 on 1 coaching to guarantee passing the ASQ green and black belt exams. I’m launching the coaching program in 2 weeks...not trying to sell you but it would be ice to hear your thoughts plus the cost of the class you just signed up for.

Yes. There are certainly opportunities out there - I'd check out the ASQ BoK for Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt and see if it's something you want to pursue. Six Sigma is still very relevant and would fit nicely with your engineering background! Let me know if you have other questions.

Thanks for the video, helped to reaffirm some of my knowledge base and highlight things to focus on. I just became a certified green belt through the military. I was wondering if you have seen how the military CPI program differs from civilian side, one thing that comes to mind is for my certification I completed an 8 step problem solving process on an A3.
@learnkaizen
@learnkaizen 3 жыл бұрын
I believe most programs are similar. Your example of the 8 Step Problem Solving; I've seen 8 Step, 7 Step, 5P, 8D (which I believe is the equivalent to your 8-Step). All are very similar. the important part is to get those problem solving concepts down so that you can transition between tools if needed even if you aren't necessarily problem solving. For example, many tool can be applied to problem solving or improving. Thanks for commenting! Really appreciate any and all support I can get on this channel.

@@learnkaizen there's definitely a huge pool to pull from but some that come to mind: 1) How to convince a reluctant boss/organization to being open to CPI (i.e. Trying to fix something that isn't "broke" in thier eyes) or more importantly how to convince reluctant stateholders. 2) What are the best ways to inspire and cultivate a CPI environment in an Organization 3) For someone who's currently in a structured career (military for example) who plans on pursuing a CPI profession but won't be able to for the next 10 years, what would be the best way to build a path towards that profession (staying involved in CPI, Black belt cert, MBB, Masters in Project management, etc)?

Hey Chad, great video. I am active in hospitality where we can use 6 sigma and lean on various levels. But i cannot define what we "produce", actually. What would that be?
@learnkaizen
@learnkaizen 4 жыл бұрын
You deliver a service and that service is made up of processes that can be improved. It may be a service that will make things easier on the customer. That customer can be defined as an internal or external customer. For example, you may be responsible for delivering documents to someone else in your company. The person you deliver to is your customer. The external customer is the person who is paying for the service your company delivers. So while you may not make widgets, you deliver a service that’s transactional in nature. That’s the best answer I can give without knowing more about your business. Hope I’ve helped. Thanks for your support on my channel. I really appreciate it! 🙏

Very informative video! I'm attempting to transition from a Operations Manager roll at a small-scale automotive interior service career to lean automotive manufacturing (cockpit and module systems). I have no Six Sigma experience but to strengthen my skill set I'm considering enrolling in a Green Belt course via Purdue. David West Thank you for watching and commenting! In my opinion, yes. A Green Belt will certainly make you more attractive as a potential candidate for any role because of the tools and concepts you’ll learn! Just be sure it’s a solid program and you take at least 4-5 practice exams prior to the actual exam (providing your chosen program tests). If there isn’t a test, I’d rethink the program despite the name behind the program. I know Purdue has a strong name so you should be fine. Hope this information helps you Let me know how else I can help!

@learnkaizen
@learnkaizen 3 жыл бұрын
I think it's fine. In fact, sometimes self study can be more beneficial because you're forced to research topics, concepts, formulas, etc. that you don't understand right away. When you have an instructor - you can get the answer quickly - but this can intake of information may be forgotten...when you spend time researching, you tend to remember more...at least this is the case for me....but we all learn differently. Very nice. I was in Germany a couple of years ago! If you have less that 2 or 3 years of experience in Lean and/or Six Sigma - I would think about the Yellow Belt. If you have a solid 2-3 years of experience working with Lean and Six Sigma, you may be good for the Green Belt. I went through the Villanova BB course in 2006 and it was good but the course used the material from ASQ (if I remember correctly)...they may have changed that now...I'm also an ASQ CSSBB. You do not have to pay the ASQ membership fee to take their exam. If it were me, I'd definitely go for the ASQ Certification. You just need to decide on the Yellow Belt or Green Belt.
