Brilliant. I can remember years ago a guy telling me that if you are having too many protein shakes, I'm pooping money away. Thank you for your excellent advice

You da freakin' man...ma man! Yer Scot-ish accented "bullshit" rings in my head on every 'Sally weak' ride. You know whats up with amino building blocks, which I really appreciate. And you're an old fighter...like me (60)...to which I'm 'sympathetic' as well.

Very good advice.Kia ora,greetings from New Zealand.I have been vegan since Oct.2019 and am now 62 y.o (76kg) I am still learning about protein and nutrition. What I will change is taking less protein on easy/rest days and more on harder days.A 420g tin of organic red beans has 32g protein plus whatever is added to the meal.So I will have 1/2 tin at 2 of the meals for better absorption. Timing is most important. Protein helps with sateity as does fibre which is often overlooked and low in an animal based diet. I aim for 80-100g.That tin of beans has 18g fibre ,important to feeding your gut microbiome.Shakes I use include pea,hemp and spirulina with water or soy milk. Subscription added.

Hi, just watched two of your videos about recovery and as a 67 year old still trying to train and recover I remain confused by the contradictions. Do I leave the protein hit point after a workout for a couple of hours as in this video or mix a shake and consume it whist still cooling down on the trainer as you recommended in an earlier video which I think was aimed more at the older rider. Great to have just discovered your channel, can't help but feel inspired by your presentation. Thanks

I would leave it Andy. It’s complex but all depends on your types of rides etc and your natural daily diet intake. Get your glycogen levels as good as you can. Your body will recover nicely with rest and protein at the various points I mention (depending on diet and exercise levels) Thanks for sharing

I'm going back to a "ketovore" diet as of today. Last time I did it I lost significant amounts of weight and it's all come back on once I started eating carbs(sugar, lets not dress it up, slow release blah blah its all sugar) again despite doing more miles and raising my FTP by 25%. I'm fully prepared to see my performance (?!) tank on the bike for now and I'm ok with that for the months it may take to get fully fat adapted, but this time I will keep a good eye on my protein intake as last time it got excessive and much of it was converted to glucose anyway (an expensive way to make sugar)... Carbs and constant grazing are not for me it seems, I'd rather be a dead legged diesel engine chugging away in Z2 than an old Ferrari about to blow up with rocket fuelled diabetes trying to take a few KOM's like a sad old fanny... !

So now 'take protein wirhin 20 minutes of workout' has become 'take up to 5 hours after'. What to believe.
@BulletproofCycling
@BulletproofCycling 6 ай бұрын
It’s never been anything other than take at the 90-2hour period for best absorption. Nothing wrong with taking a little in first 20 mins but make sure you are heavily focused on carbs in that period. 👍

Thanks, I’m 61 and now struggling and I’m hoping it’s the protein thing which I’ve always dismissed so I’m going to give it a try, I’ve had advice from someone training for a triathlon and have been advised to get My Protein/isolate /whey impact

Consider plants...spirulina and chlorella have the highest protein content of any food stuffs on earth. Chorella in a tab, spirulina powdered to sprinkle or in liquids.

Hi Scott. You talk a lot about hydration and water in videos, would appreciate a video about sodium and electrolytes to further deep dive in to the topic. Noticed most tablets have around 200mg of sodium, whilst some niche brands are offering 750+. Look forward to hearing your thoughts as always

Great advice.. I have to admit I am guilty of having a protein shake after my workouts and 40+k rides I do look forward to them.. I do include banana, kale, chia seeds blueberries with the protein powder and may also have an apple or grapes. I am also Vegan.. what would you recommend I have straight after a workout ? is it best to have nothing for 60+mins ? then have my tea or dinner etc ? Many thanks.. :) Subscribed to the Channel :)

Coach is white bread and white rice good for cycling?
@BulletproofCycling
@BulletproofCycling 2 жыл бұрын
It’s fine. Rice cakes are very popular and some pros eat white bread rolls with some dough removed and filled with jam!

Hi, love the channel. One question; If I’m on a 3hr zone 2 ride, should I fuel along the way or just wait for a recovery drink when I get home?
@BulletproofCycling
@BulletproofCycling 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Ideally fuel from around 90 mins with 30-60g of carbs per hour. It will help the ride and the start of recovery 👍
