15:00 I had good success with externally routing an Ascend II Dropper Seatpost along the seat tube down to the front derailleur mount (1x modified setup) and then following the disabled cable's route (down tube internal) . Doing this on an Cube LTD Race 2016 frame. You can actually rotate the external cable pull assembly (180 degrees) on this type of post if you take it apart.

Heey Doddy. Love your Q&A sections and tech show. Just wanted to tell you there is new bearings and cups avaible to get a 1,5-1 1/8 fork to fit on a 1 1/8 frame. This also work vice verse. So you could fit a 1 1/8 fork on a tapered frame and you could also fit a tapered fork on a straight steerer tube. Zitto got bearings and cups for this. Best of Regards Tonky

The 2011 Shinobi is still relevant. Amazing bike and I still have it as a backup. A real mini-enduro bike years before they became popular. Mine was immediately upgraded with a shorter stem, a wider and raised bar, and a KS Lev, and is now set up with a DHF 2.5 upfront. It's still in my garage and used regularly. Interestingly, my guests tend to prefer it to a high end Pivot Mach 6. It's also not bad for long backcountry day or hut to hut rides.

Respect to Doddy for riding tarmac to offroad trails. So few people don't these days, that this sport could EASILY be called carbiking and i hate that. I ride up to 25km to one of my favourite spots. It used to be huge part on tarmac or footpaths. But I used google maps satellite view and explored a lot to find as much of the route as possible to go through gravel/agricultural/woodland roads or some hidden woods paths. Keep it up Doddy!

It was me that asked the question. And the reason i asked was because i had seen a company in RSA converting new forks to 1/18th crown and steerers. I had asked if there was a company within the UK that could do this conversion rather than having to send it abroad. The frame is from 1997 and does not fit the Hope conversion kit. The only solution is to convert the crown and steerer or buy a fork that has 1/18th steerer already installed. Dodster wasnt wrong- he just didnt read the question correctly
@kubagajda7347
@kubagajda7347 4 жыл бұрын
@@dwaynerbear Well then, if your frame has internal headtube diameter of 44mm and has pressed-in cups, then you can change the lower one to EC44 cup, which can accomodate 1 1/2 steerer with no problem. You can also go to Cane Creek headset finder, choose the bike you have from the list and it'll tell you wether this is possible or not. Changing lower headset cup is by far the cheapest and safest way of solving this problem.

#AskGMBNTech -- Not a question so much, but for people that still need to get 1 1/8" straight steerer tubes due to frame limitations, MRPbike.com (Mountain Racing Products) still offers some of their forks with straight steerer options. Specifically I'd look at the Loop SL and the Loop TR, because these are probably closest to the forks that you would find on older bikes with old school EC34 headtubes! Thanks for keeping me sane in quarantine, cheers.

This was perfect because I recently switched my tubes over to tubeless on my wheels. So put Stan's valve stems in and then had a small bottle of Stan's but I'm also running 27.5 Plus Tires so with that little bottle I just split it in half and empty the bottle and both of them because they're such a big tires and I perfectly happy with it I mean it rides better it feels better is so much more comfortable it's a trek Roscoe 8 so I'm riding a hardtail but I didn't realize how soft I was riding it with tubes and it was still comfortable and right now I'm at 20 psi or 22 in the rear 20 in the front. And I also bought my cherry going clipless so I'm experiencing the best of to new worlds right now and it's been pretty goddamn amazing if I must say I've been able to do a lot of riding with the weather here in Iowa and it's been awesome and the trails are opening up and it's cool I was totally stoked and digging it

But never had a 6mm screwdriver puncture on the trail, so stans is overkill.imo. Its hard to find tho. Highly recommend slime pro sts (note, this is NOT regular slime for tubes/atv's)

#askgmbntech Hi Doddy & Henry, love the show. I've recently carried out a full service + reduced the travel to 130mm on my 2016 rockshox revelation rct3 forks. I've noticed the fork now rests at 5% sag after being compressed. If I gently lift the front of the bike it returns to 0% sag & stays there no problem but as soon as the fork is compressed again it will only return to 5%. I've check the usual suspects like air trapped in the lowers but all seams fine. Do you think I it could be a worn damper? Thanks & keep up the great work 👍

#AskGMBMTech Hi Dobby, I'm from Singapore. Recently I've gotten myself a second hand Specialized Camber 29 2015, I was wondering if I can change the rear shock, what would you recommend and can I put on a 160mm travel front suspension fork for this bike. Love to hear your thoughts on this. Thank you

Hi new to mtb just bought a new Vitus nucleus vrs 27 and want to go tubeless. The tyres are vigilante + trail boss can I simply remove inner tube and add tubeless valve and sealer? What valve type would you recommend?

Is there a type of bottom bracket that is inherently better than others? Say like threaded vs pressfit? Do you notice a difference in life span of one or the other?

Question: Have you ever made a custom badge for your bike to replace the brand logo on the head tube? I’m interested in giving it a try but no idea how round it to match the taper and angle of the bike. I ride a 2020 carbon Santa Cruz Bronson just for example.

Buy a bendy ruler, used for curves by tech drawrers and architects. Could bend around tube and trace cross section or sections..problem solved.

Totally off the subject here; but we have a 1996 Giant ATX 980 full suspension MTB we would like to replace the rear shock. It currently has a RST RK-9 X 3.0" can you provide what upgrades we have a choice with?

#AskGMBNTech Hi, what kind of tyre combo would you suggest for a 130mm trail bike? I do quite long full day rides (over 60km) and also short trail runs, trails are mostly natural forest paths with with some rocks here and there, climbs are mostly fire roads, some tarmac as well, I also don’t really ride wet conditions much... Thanks for the response!

#AskGMBNTech Hi guys love your show. I am thinking about upgrading my hub and later on my rims, I currently have a DT (E1900) wheelset with 28 spokes, is it possible to upgrade to a 32 spoke hub (the Spank HEX)? If so, I would also like to upgrade the rims in the future to the Crank brother Synthesis E Alloy rims. Witch type of DT spokes would you recommend front and back?
