This presenter is nuts if he doesnt rate Bergkamp as one of the stand out talents ever in the PL. You cant judge a player on just on stats alone. If he watched Dennis week in week out he would have seen Bergkamp made that forward line in and around the Invincibles era tick. It all went through Dennis. His vision and passing was as good as anyone I have ever seen in 30+ years of watching footy. You think Henry would have scored so many goals if he didn't have Bergkamp feeding him those inch perfect through balls?

Bergkamp played in every arsenal league winning side, both his strike partners ended up being club top scorer, henry said bergkamp the greatest hes played with and henry has played with zidane and messi, andy said his numbers are awful but there isnt a stat to show wjat bergkamp done on the pitch, sometimes a magic bergkamp pass flick or through ball would be lead up to a goal, an absolute magician, if you shot a bullet at him he could control it, unbelievable 1st touch. I think andy needs to watch bergkamps greatest goals/touches/passes videos to realise how great he was, bergkamp gas a top 10 of wonder goals, there isnt a player ever to exist that has a better goal highlight reel then him, a god in football, greatest 10 of all time, if harry kane is worth 200 million then bergkamp is worth 2 billion, rant over

@@ahmedadam8851 and u have your right to disagree…however the way Henry soon dumped Arsenal when Barcelona came calling will always leave a bitter taste in my mouth when it comes to Henry….I know arsenal was going through a transition with the financial implications from the move from Highbury to the emirates however I can’t really get over it. Obviously it turned out to be the right move for Henry in the end however maybe not for the Arsenal.

I agree with Ronaldinho being worth around 250-300 million,Henry at his prime I'd say 265-295 million. In 2006 Ronaldinho and Henry were the best players in the world at that time. The problem with Bergkamp is away games like in UEFA he wouldn't be available caused he'd probably drive there since he didn't like planes so I'd say Bergkamp 150-160 million. Ian Wright got to Arsenal at 28 so maybe 70 million max 80.

Bergkamp was better than Henry. He won the league with three different striking partners and the amount of key passes were off the charts, it was always Vieira to Bergkamp and he would either find the assist or put someone in position to get an easy assist. He was a modern number 10, working hard, creating, scoring etc.

Such an odd question. When Bergkamp was in Italy he did well, but was below the radar of most clubs. He had done VERY well at Ajax, but on a relatively ordinary league (for a big player). Even at Arsenal, he was erratic. Wenger was clearly a fan, but even many fans questioned him for some time. When he went to Arsenal, they were not the team they became under AW. I think Bergkamp is the best footballer I ever saw play. Most people say he isn't close. And.... Big clubs were not banging on the door for him. For me, he was a great... For many he was just a striker who was occasionally brilliant.

Numbers don't do Bergkamp justice as he was often the guy who assisted the assist, wasn't on free kicks for the most part, wasn't on pens if Wright or Henry or Pires were fit and can't remember him taking many corners.

I reckon with inflantion the £7.5m we paid for Bergkamp back in the day would be £75m in todays money. He only was average for his two seasons in Italy when we bought him too.

So yeah that seems about right. He was worth £75m (an expensive £75m at that) when we bought him and then maybe at his absoulte peak was worth £175m tops. And that is a risky high price to because he was at the peak of his powers in his late 20's where the value could only go down.

This is a difficult question to answer. There’s so much context that goes into his price tag. How many years left on his contract? What age is he? What club is buying him? what club is selling him? "Greatest player to play in the PL" is different from "The greatest PL player". There hasn't been a player that has dominated the League as the best player for as long as Thierry Henry did. The guy was unstoppable at times. Drogba was an exceptional striker and always raised his level for the big games. But Henry played at that level most games, he wasnt just considered the top striker he was the top player - still holds the PL assist record which is quite incredible. It's quite sad how quickly people forget how good he was.

So by that account you dont rate Salah then? Salah first struggled when he played in the PL for Chelsea, he didn't tear it up in Serie A either.

That's a bit simplistic. Doesn't factor in the fact that the manager couldn't settle on a forward formation, a very conservative team whose midfield player deep leaving strikers isolated at times a role not suited to a number 10 and multiple problems with the club at the time as they flirted with relegatkon. He was integral to them winning the UEFA cup in his two year spell though

Darren is just pulling numbers out of the orifice where the sun don't shine. If a prime Thiery Henry is worth £200 million today, then a prime Robert Lewandowski and a prime Luis Suarez should be worth £300 million each If Bergkamp is worth £180 million, KDB is worth £180 million.

Lewandowski is a great goalscorer but has absolutely nothing on Henry. Debruyne is more athletic than Bergkamp but technically beats him on everything.

well yeh, players dont get sold much at their prime especially from a big club, or if they do theyve run their contract down to 12 or 18 months. Cristiano and Neymar the exceptions so those kind of numbers are what you're looking at
