That's because speaking Cat has so much to do with body language. The body posture of Dad was already a bit threatening, and then he was suddenly more tense when he took out the belt. So, Dad was certainly acting well enough for Chase to react to it! It wasn't the loud voice that bothered him, it was the tension. Possibly also smell.

Poor Chase , he most definitely flinched when the dad shouted he even turned around nestled into his mom’s neck for safety.

Goodbye rest, free time, and freedom when you're on the hook for babies and toddlers. The experience just solidified my decision not to have children and be a dedicated fur mom. I have my kitties and love them above all else. My boys make me happier than anyone. We should all choose the path that will bring each of us the most happiness. P.s. Don't parentify your children, just, for anyone reading this. It's psychologically damaging for a child to be made to be responsible for another child and shackles them to a responsibility they didn't choose. Not implying that about anyone on this thread. Just look at it as a PSA.
