I’m a mental health nurse and so I’m trained to help people through tough times. Despite my training I still often find it hard, so you should be really proud at the great work you do and the courage you have to be vulnerable and reach out to others. Keep it up Hazey and hope to see you somewhere beautiful in nature one day.

Probably the best video you have ever done, honestly, I don't think you know how much h you help people. My daughter is struggling at the moment, turns out a lot more than I knew about and it breaks my heart. Watching this has given me the idea to take her on a wild camp with me and my dog. It's far far from what she's used to but I reckon she'll get some good stuff from it so thanks for giving me the idea mate. When you find out that a loved one is having these terrible thoughts of ending it all, you feel panic and dread and fear all at once, I mean how can i a 57 year old fart help a gorgeous 30 year old woman, but I think I can by taking her to the hills and living with nature for a couple days. Anyway pal, you truly are an inspiration to so many people, long may it continue my friend

Mate, I was literally talking about SADs today with one of my sons. I used to struggle with it every year and get so depressed about it. After I left the army it was a struggle and looking back now I was a mess, especially after the breakup of my relationship with my sons mother. Being outdoors and giving myself a test and pushing myself in all weathers and circumstances helped me. Adversity made me healthier mentally and put me in a better place. That was 17 years ago and although I have small troughs of depression, I feel a lot happier and content. Depression is not the end of the world.

Thank you for having the courage to be vulnerable and sharing the downs as well as your ups. If I was given one wish it would be that humans didn’t suffer with their herds. Being poorly certainly doesn’t help either. I shake my chubby fist to the head demons we all suffer with at one time or another. Take care of yourself and be kind to yourself. Sending you and everyone love ❤️

Hope you're feeling better Hazey. Don't underestimate how many ppl you help just by putting videos out. Your videos and banter got me off my arse and back out into nature. I'm doing better and have tons of walks planned and 100s of miles under my belt. That is directly as a result of your honesty, arty video skills and mostly your sense of humour. As for SAD and the flu. Yeah it kicked my arse last month, then I kicked its arse. Keep the faith brother.

Great stuff Haze. More people need to talk! I remember back in 2015. I sat in my room and wrote a list. On the left hand side it said kill yourself. On the right it was a list of goals and achievements I wanted to pursue. Been on a mission since. Mindset and learning to be happy alone are the BIGGEST things. It gets better. I had a breakdown over 22 years ago. I got lots of help and support, took time out of life, and did what I could, when I could. The most important thing I learned through that adventure is to stop believing all the thoughts I think because most of them were not compassionate or empowering toward me. I still slip sometimes, but I know the symptoms, and I have a vast toolbox to help myself get back to compassionate and kindness.

Uncle Hazy, mate...you helped me (and likely thousands of others) through a couple years that were pretty rough on the entire planet. I appreciate you and a few other channels more than I could ever express. Now that I have my own outlet, I intend to do a #showusyoursteak video for mental health of my own. I could use another round of that myself. So, whether you ever record another second of it for us or not; I hope you are enjoying more time outdoors, and are healthy and stay that way in the coming year. Much love, brother Hazy. ✌🍃

Even just from the snippets we get to see of your life on youtube, it's been clear that you've been having a great time this year, Hazey. Been lovely to see. I spent the first 6 months of this year sat inside writing my thesis to finish my PhD, and it sent my noggin well and truly into the shed. Eventually I forced myself to do an hours walk every morning around my local woods before I started working, and honestly that was the one thing that actually helped me finish the damn thing. I know it's a cliche, but that's because it's true: nature really is the great healer. It strips back to bare truths and shows you what you need to be shown. Hope you're feeling better soon and that you enjoyed the snow dahhn saarf :)

Much love Hazy, don't feel pressured that "you can't help everyone". It's an impossible task and through your content you are doing more than most of us could hope to do in shedding some light on and making conversations about mental health. My head was a shed just before lockdown happened, and lockdown maybe helped me mask it a little as it was very easy to literally lock myself away. It took a few years to come back to life and like many people it was the call of the outdoors that woke me back up. I went to a few fells and started to get fitter and eventually went to the North Wales coast for 3 nights in the tent with my lad, I came back completely different and I now get the tent out as much as possible. Everyone has a happy place and the coast is mine, I am hoping to do the camino de santiago next year as a pat on the back to myself for coming back from the edge. Again, much love mate. Some times it's hard for anyone to take credit, but you deserve lots for your consistent approach to promoting mental health.

Hello mate. I love your videos, and I found this one very touching. You have a heart of gold. Me and the Mrs are moving to York just after Christmas, so that we can be near the places we love. It's amazing how healing nature can be, and you're not wrong in what you say. My wife is a psychotherapist and she tries to help people in difficult times. But like her you must remember not to make yourself responsible. You can try and do your best to help and that's what you've done, but mental wellbeing is something people ultimately have to find for themselves. It sounds like you recently turned a corner, and I'm happy for you. Be well my friend and keep being the good person you are. X

You have managed to gain a huge following of broken people (me included), who you give so much happiness and motivation too. Hey mate, Firstly this was a lovely surprise as i'v not seen a video for a few weeks. Its always an absolute joy spending time with you in the great outdoors. Secondly THANK YOU for this little mental health chat. We all know you suffer every now and again with the old brain noggin so i for one truly appreciate you doing this. Personally i always find you very up beat and a positive chap who has a great sense of humour which is why watching your videos brings me much joy. Honestly you are so special to so many so please always reach out when you need too. I hope you have an awesome christmas and a great positive and mentally strong new 2023. Very much looking forward to new content and great adventures in the new year. As always be well and safe travels.

I come back to the video all the time. It's helped me immensely. Just to know there's another person out there with their head in a shed. All your videos help. Sometimes I just need to see you huddled in a soggy tent, with a packet of rehydrated spag-bol stuffed up your jumper to make things a little bit better. Thank you ! ❤
