Piracy is definitely an assessability issue. I remember when Steam was first getting big the figures for PC piracy were drastically reduced.

People who pirate games they can’t actually buy aren’t the issue. People who use that excuse to pirate games they absolutely could buy but “wouldn’t play anyway if they had to pay for it” are the issue.

Tricky topic... For example: virtua fighter 2 right now is only available for the XBOX 360 arcade and I don't think XBOX One/XBOX Series can play it. So would it be ok to pirate then? (Also the steam version doesn't count as that is a genesis port of the game using 2D sprites when it is supposed to be a 3D polygonal fighting game) Or what if something were an ouya exclusive or something

Thanks to Gabe Newell. He destroyed pirate mentality in Russia. In 00 there are no licensed games at all. Piracy companies were the only publishers there. License was too expensive or no at all. Now it is one of the biggest place of income for gaming industry.

If they are able to alter reality on a massive scale like changing history, altering all biological traits, bringing non-living things to life, altering the fabric of existance, etc, they can certainly fix a moving part inside a machine. I've heard Joy Con Drift is actually pretty easy to fix, you just need to be willing to take your Joycon apart and have a bit of technical know-how.

There's not much to say beyond joy con drift not being fixed even 5 years later, super Mario 3d all stars, NSO expansion pass being WAAAY too overpriced on top of not having any monthly fee to force us to pay more even if we just want to play one game, cancelling a smash bros. melee tournament because it used a special emulator to play online with rollback netcode (which was about 5 times better than what Smash Ultimate has, even though they have a much higher budget and the rollback netcode for melee was made by one guy in 6 months) claiming the whole thing was illegal despite the fact that it wasn't in the slightest, cancelling a platoon 2 tournament because they didn't want knowledge that they had done such a thing to spread with nametags in the tournament, Nintendo claiming joy con drift isn't a real problem and hasn't caused anyone any inconvenience in a legal battle, not listening to fans' request AT ALL ( despite what they'll say in pretty words in a letter to keep their image and reputation so you keep buying from them so they can have those sweet profits), raising the price of an amiibo that includes a quality of life feature in a game just because they made it "special" and then not producing nearly enough stock for everyone that wants it (They've been doing that for years and nothing's changed despite requests from fans of course) and so SO SO SO SO SO MUCH MORE. Just because they reply with a letter with pretty words that says they want to make everyone happy and listen to fans doesn't mean any of it is true. Of course Nintendo tries to appear all friendly, they need to keep their image so people like you buys into it. What speaks louder than words is when they refuse to change something fans have hated for years, don't listen to complaints about joy con drift and instead pretend it doesn't exist, and so much more. THAT speaks about their true nature way more than anything else. That's just how the world works. Companies do their best to appear as friendly as possible no matter how much they do terrible things to their own customers. And in the case of Nintendo, they push that anti-consumer meter to the limit while trying to act like none of the bad things they do exist and just keep their friendly appearance. That's just how it is. And you can't blame thousands of people for hating Nintendo. If the overwhelming majority of their fanbase is mad at them, it's because they did something wrong, not the fans.

Gamecube games have kinda just gotten stupid, you're basically looking at paying more than when they were new, unless you're ok with lose disks that are probably scratched to hell and won't load random parts of the game to fool you into thinking the disk is fine and works. In that case you're looking at a little less than when they were new.

Gamecube prices are absolutely mad! How in bloody hell are people paying $200 for a copy of Pokemon XD? I'm still hanging on to my childhood Gamecube games, which were $40 new, but others who want to play them aren't so lucky.

Except...Super Mario 3D All-Stars are now selling for well over $100 because Nintendo decided it was a 4-month limited thing. Scalpers bought up tons of physical games...and are now making bank because you can no longer purchase it officially.

All of the creators of Sonic Mania were fangame creators. On the other hand, if someone shows Nintendo a fangame, they'll issue that person a copyright strike. (Now all we need is for someone to tell SEGA that the title screen emblem they created for various 2D Sonic games is a ripoff of the Steak n Shake logo... Oh wait, I've got that planned!)

The only other Japanese company I know of that's like this is car manufacturer Toyota. When _Asphalt 8: Airborne_ first came out, there were two cars in the game made by Toyota that have since been removed for non-owners: the Toyota Supra RZ Mark 4 and the Scion FR-S (Scion is a sub-brand of Toyota, like Lexus). They were removed because since then, Toyota changed their licensing laws and said that Gameloft couldn't license their cars anymore because only game companies based in Japan can license their cars for racing games, and Gameloft is based in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

Pretty much every single company is like that(sort of).

And after those 11 years, they still won't have any GameCube games.

Sure for companies like nintendo it doesn't hurt at all since they're multi-million dollar companies, however for indie devs lets say piracy was 100% legal, those indie devs could make very little off their game because most people pirated it. I personally feel like pirating from big companies is fine but if you pirate from smaller indie studios then that is wrong

The point of emulation is for preservation as long as you own the games, like if your sistem gets bricked for example, or to upscale and use cheats and savestates

Don't conflate piracy with emulation. It is possible to emulate games without pirating them. I agree with your point, though - if Nintendo makes games reasonably available for purchase (wording is such that it does not respect Nintendo trying to cheat it by offering e.g. M64 for $1000), pirating them is a bad thing to do. Otherwise, I fail to see who it harms.

Besides, that 3D World + Bowser's Fury was far more substantial than most other Wii U ports, like Xenoblade Chronicles. There's really nothing wrong with having a port of game if there's plenty of new content.
