That match up is a nightmare for the VDV because most of their armour is vulnerable to numerous AT weapons. If you have inexperienced pilots and vehicle crews on the VDV, your team will usually be eviscerated

A normal AP round does 25% hull damage if it pens, so unless there are weird impacts that only do component damage (turret, tracks, engine), then you usually can 4 shot them.

this so called Realistic game still uses hitpoints damage systems for vehicles so jeah is not a Milsim in my eyes if vehicles still use hitpoints as damage system

The Abrams is a better tank because it's faster and has better fire control, but a 120mm gun is a 120mm gun, a T72 is perfectly capable of smoking one in a head on engagement. Especially at the ranges you fight at in squad. If the game was more realistic both tanks would be taken out of commission if they take a head on tank round/atgm/tandem round. The 'balance' of the game applies to all the tanks.

@@evangelosvasiliades1204 Old comment but its so unbelievably wrong I had to respond. T-72 is soviet junk and would stand zero chance against an Abrams or Leopard. Abrams/Leopard(ABR/LEO) is superior in almost every way. Much better optics and superior elevation would mean the Abrams/Leopard would be able to engage at elevations and ranges that the T-72 wouldn't be able to even see the Abrams/Leopard let alone fire back. ABR/LEO have much better maneuverability, crew safety and most importantly penetration that could pierce the T-72 armour in one round from any side of the tank. Literally one round of APFSDS will kill a T-72 if hit anywhere on the turret or hull. A T-72 can not pierce an Abrams tank from the front of side plates, they are just way to thick. So in summary an Abrams will spot a T-72 at such a long distance that the T-72 cant see the Abrams, kill the T-72 in one round of APFSDS and even if the T-72 fires back it will do absolute nothing unless it hits the Abrams in the rear plate of the hull.

@@CXOXMXAXR You are entirely right to additionally point out western mbt's superior gun depression which would make a difference in any sort of highlands, and their optics advantage which is especially important in a more open battlefield. As well as the increased crew survivability which absolutely matters in a long war. I didn't intend to suggest the vehicles were on par, chances between them are highly dependent on terrain and other factors, given that a lot of a western mbt's advantages are lost in an environment like Ukraine's with lots of tree lines to cut off lines of sight, and being quite flat. Not to mention a world where commonplace drone spotting helps negate shorter identification ranges. But no matter what the T72 is lacking in some key components. You however are not a reasonable individual. It is not a simple difference of armor and armament. Russian tanks have thinner armour because they also have ERA, which is perfectly serviceable for rpgs, it does not save the tank from modern ap rounds, but neither does the Abrams if it was shot with it's own best rounds. Top attacks and mines, and artillery, kill them both anyways. Both tanks can pen eachother from the front with modern AP rounds, you talk about APFSDS over and over as if Russians dont also have them. They do, they are called the Svinets.

It's a T-72B3, that means that the optics are on the same level as the Abrams optics. and armorwise Abrams couldn't pen it's front with that ERA, and the turret would be even harder(there are animations that show abrams can't pen t72 turret), meanwhile even 3BM42 is able to pen UFP of an Abrams, that was already tested (short info, NATO had a T-80U for testing, so they know what penetration it has and it is known that it would pen abrams ufp because of the lack of composite armor). And from the side both tanks wouldn't have a problem killing each other. ALso your long distance is pretty irrelevant, most tank fights in Ukraine are happening below 2000m and most of the times drones decide which tank get's sight on the enemy first and kills him. Also t-72 is smaller and easier to hide. And if you want pure realism, have fun facing 10 T-72, 8 T80 and 3 T-90 in your single abrams. To make games fun, most of the time developers give a tank better quality if it's strength was quanity.

The only one that is on par with western MBT is the T-14 which they can’t field in large numbers so irrelevant. The optics aren’t on the same level. Even on the most modern variant they aren’t. Russian bs. The idea that an Abram’s can’t pen a T-72B3 but it can an Abram’s is about as true as Russians saying Ukraine has biolabs. ERA doesn’t do jack shit against modern western rounds that aren’t just HEAT. Abram’s will kill ANY t-72 variant from any angle with modern APFSDS round pretty much in 1 shot. A t-72 can only really pen an Abram’s from the back and maybe the sides. The idea the T-72B3 or ANY other Russian piece of trash MBT(minus T-14) is anywhere near as good as many of the western tanks(Abrams, Leopard, challenger etc) is complete nonsense and should be dismissed. Abrams in particular has better protection, mobility, crew survivability, and optics.
