Some tips for spotting, View range is the simplest element of the spotting system and can be found in the spotting bar of tank characteristics. Say you have 400m view range on your tank, this can be visualised by the green circle on the minimap. If an enemy with 0% camo enters this circle, they will be permanently spotted until leaving the circle, where they will become unspotted after 10s. You can tell when you have been spotted by the light bulb; it appears 3s after being spotted. The other circles on the minimap include the white circle, which denotes maximum spotting distance at 445m, and the blue circle for proximity spotting at 50m - the latter does not require line of sight. Methods to increase view range includes equipment: optics, binoculars (only on snipers) and vents (standard, bounty, experimental, improved (best)). Directives for optics or vents can provide extra bonuses. Crew skills such as recon, brothers in arms and situational awareness also offer a bonus. The food consumable does increase view range as well Camo is the counterpart to VR and can also be found be found in the spotting bar of tank characteristics. Each tank receives a different camo value for stationary camo and moving camo, with the former being higher. High tier light tanks do not receive the camo penalty to moving camo, making them be able to do magic. Say a tank with 440m view range encounters a rat with 50% camo, it will get spotted at 220m VR. It is as simple as reducing the enemies VR by %camo Each tank has 6 iirc, spotting ports on each face of the tank (front, sides, rear, roof, belly) where they all have to be hidden to remain unspotted. Each tank has 2 viewports, one on the gun mantlet and one on the commander's cupola. This allows you to turn your turret sideways and expose the mantlet past a wall to spot enemies while remaining unspotted. Ways to increase camo include equipment: low noise exhaust, vents, camo net (never use this pls). Directives for LNE and vents. Crew skills like camo and brothers in arms. The food consumable provides a bonus to camo. Camo/skins do actually offer a camo bonus. Finally foliage, which is a big one Foliage includes bushes, dry bushes and trees. They offer 50%, 25% and 25% camo respectively. You can stack the camo from the first two, but not trees. Trees however, can be knocked down to make it easier to stay hidden. At higher tiers though, we are quite aware of everything and a tree falling down or broken fence will usually mean getting blind fired. Shooting through a bush negates the camo bonus, unless the bush is opaque. Usually we would spot the enemy through the bush, back up until the bush is opaque and then shoot. tbh ignoring game mechanics is perfectly fine, so long as you enjoy the game

Some Mechanics Spookson should know: 1. Shooting through double bushes will keep you hidden, tho keep in mind if an enemy is not behind the 2nd bush, you will get lit 2. Ammo number in your ammorack does not affect the ammorack explosion chances. Sometimes even a single ammo can trigger a detonation 3. Its advised to take a small repair kit and small aid kit if you have premium consumables (like Coca Cola) 4. In WoT, you dont have to fear any tank, as long as you have an idea of your own tank 5. The lightbulb appears 3 seconds after you have been spotted. After it appears, you will remain spotted for 10 seconds. 6. For sniper tanks, like the S. Hellcat, stay in the back and use the 16x to 25x zoom in. You can enable it in settings 7. Dont try the enemy arty. They can and will shoot you for 300-800 8. Every tank has a weakspot. Whether its by using regular rounds, or premium rounds. Just like in WT, the weakspots are: Cupola, Machinegun port(rarely shot at) and lower plate 9. if you see a BZ-176 in anything that has 203 or less armor, run as fast as you can 10. Always try to flank the BZ-176 as it has T10 armor in the front. 11. Unwritten rule of WoT r*tards: If a particullar player is shooting you too much, disregard all the others shooting you and rush them. 12. Ping will always be quite the issue. But WoT has a system that checks if you miss the target and then checks your ping. It will then cauculate where the enemy would have been that long ago and if the shot would have hit, it does. Example of this was the T25 AT kill

Play the Conqueror! with the somewhat recent APDS buffs, it's got more pen than most early darts and a full stabilizer at 7.7!

Jokes aside, that play on Prokhorovka was actually pretty good. Played that bush really well, since that's the best way to play the hellcat in WoT, a hit and run machine alright

Would love to see more of these. Playing this more would likely help you get used to the differences between this and warthunder. The base premise of the two is about the same, so a lot of your skills from that can carry over.

back when I used to play World of Tank many eons ago my best win rate was in M18 Hellcat and if I remember correctly it was somewhere around 65%, but that was so many years ago and I have no idea how good it is at the moment. Marder II used to also be a great choice in low tier and especially if you wanted a very high win rate, I mean like over 70%.

I haven't played WoT in some time, but it took me years before I realized how to shoot without being seen. Especially in something like a hellcat, sneak up until you can see through a bush, spot something, then back off until that bush goes opaque again. That way, when you shoot, you won't light off to the enemy you just spotted. Requires a little more patience and a lot of trigger discipline but it works- or it did last time I played daily.

in WoT, you should really take all the ammo you can as there is no difference in the probability to get ammoracked, even if you have almost no ammo left

Hey spokstoon, As an ex - WoT player. A few tips... - WT literally relies on ears and eyes to know enemies location. In WoT, Spotting and hiding depends on in-game mechanics - You notice the light bulb that goes off on ur screen (you've been spotted 3 seconds ago), so run and hide -In 3:10, u noticed the light bulb didn't go off; because u positioned ur tank (in front of bushes NOT inside the bushes - indicated by the fact that, you could see the silhouette of the Tank). According to the game mechanic, ur opponent won't Spot u, if if they know what direction the shot is coming from, as u saw the tank looking at u(the game won't show them ur exact location).

If you plan on playing again, it would really help you to learn how double bushing works, basicaly if in sniper mode you can't see through the bush, at mid to long range no1 will spot you, but if you can see through it, it provides no cammo at all. Edit: pretaining to cammo ratting after firing.

Play the T49, it's my fav light tank in the game. There is nothing more satisfying than one shotting a full health ISM130 with a HE shell. Shooting heavy tanks in the rear engine armor and doing massive damage in the 800-999 range

Actually your peeking at 3:20 onward was very good. That's basically how to play world of tanks. Peek and fire, wait a few seconds for your enemy to unspot you and fire at someone else, then peek and fire again. It's all about making safe areas where your team can hit anyone who dives on you, but you can also poke at the enemy team. As a TD, it's ok to be second line behind your team. Only some fast TDs (like the super hellcat) will be expected to spot for themselves and the team. The one really bad thing you did was getting behind that reversing Tiger. He had a good peeking spot going and you picked the worst time and path to get past him.

Just for everyone's info the Cromwell B is like one of the best premium T6 medium tanks in the game (well it was when I played the game) Just use the code even if you are most likely to not like the game a free cromwell B is kinda great.

It is fascinating to me to notice how clearly you are using a lot of learnings from War Thunder in WoT. No shade there, just genuinely interesting to see how a lot of rather okay War Thunder behaviors translate to low level WoT ones The only thing i was wondering is that you know from War Thunder that you wanna limit your own vehicles exposure to the enemys line of sight and yet here in the Paris game you drive out fully in front of the enemy giving them a nice chunky broadside
