My hair type on the typical day is very similar to yours, some days far curlier some days even less curly. My lifestyle/ location is more on par with the first one you talked about, except a far colder state, my scalp is fine until its not (which is when i’d shampoo/ condition as of before this video), and i’ve just recently dropped a sizable check on products fit for my long hair after finding your channel. Do I know how frequently to wash my hair yet? Absolutely not. I guess once or twice a week is my go to, for now once. I don’t want to lose or damage my mane, and I dont want to use my expensive products on days where im not doing anything. (I work from home btw).

My hometown is hot and humid while my college is in a different city that remains warm and dry throughout the day. I normally wash my hair once/twice a week and that works fine. But whenever I'm at home my hair gets greasy in 2 days. I now get it after watching this video. I need to wash my hair more frequently when at home.

Hey Trav, what’s your opinion on co-washing every day and only using shampoo once a week? I hear about it all the time, especially for people who have hairstyles that they wet style every day but I can’t seem to find hard data on it

Hey JP, I've been using shampoo less since educating myself about hair. Personally, I find that it has been beneficial, and currently I am shampooing my hair only once or twice a month. I condition once or twice a week, usually just once. I try to only wet my hair every other days as per Trav's suggestions. Use lukewarm water and from time to time cool water. Test your results. Everybody is different. Good luck.

Here's a big question I have: When you say "wash", I imagine you're referring to shampooing your hair. But on the days when you don't shampoo, do you still get it wet in the shower, or do you wear a shower cap? And how does your styling/product routine change on the days when you don't shampoo your hair?
@StarParade

I think he's specifically referring to shampooing. I recommend cleaning your hair and scalp with just water in between shampoo washes as it can extend period between shampooing.

I always wanted long hair, and alwaysed failed. Next year I will be turning 30, I always had really thin hair, passed year, and a few months since last time I cut it short, I been watching your videos, and I decided to try again to grow long, I did get the tips cut a bit like mayby 2 months ago now, my hair is touching my shoulders.. but seems to stopped and really thin and awfull... I tried severeal things, I don't wash it every day, altough some periods i forgotten about it, but I am now trying harder again... really I think I need wash it every day, I might go back to it, latly it feels realy bad, washing it every 2 or 3 days, I also got a airblower, and heat protection.. I suppose it gets a little more volume from it, but don't really notice difference yet, still grows slow and really thin. I started to use dedicated shampoo past over 1 year, since last I cut it short, before I always just used like one in all soap for body and hair... and seriously in my store there is only one shampoo available, and thats also like vegan one.. it seems fine, but I don't really notice difference, I don't have car so limited to where i can get, and limited money, ordering fancy shampoo online and pay shipping is not really an option, I did that for the heat protection... the air blower I got second hand really cheap, it works fine, and Im very careful using it. I also is using hair conditioner.. I tried using it a few different ways, last time Ithink i left to much behind in my hair, and it felt kinda weird. and also I been changing weather or not to wet my hair dayli, again, I stopped shampoo it every day, but for some periods i been going back and forward about wether or not wet it.. seems not really make a big difference, I also got a nice comb second hand, with those round things, that i use.. my hair is awfull, and I kinda wanna just take the machine and cut it all to a few mm like I done severeal years... but I decided I was going to try atleast 2 years... and Im only nearing 1 and a half.. I think I do need wash my quite short, and very thin hair every day... but I think I need find some other shampoo or routine, with conditioner/air bllower... anyway thanks to your videos I atleast decided to really try grow my hair long, and I love your approch to real science, and no definteve one answer to suit all

And PS. why use a scrub on your scalp. You can break off your hair. All you need to do is use a mild shampoo get it on the roots and use the pads of your fingers, soft and gentle if you need someplace to spend your money there are animal rescues, and all sorts of war efforts for the kids that are involved in war right now. There are so many better things, if you have too much money, this thing keeps multiplying
@4lynneterry
@4lynneterry 5 ай бұрын
this is so simple that it’s not funny and it’s a shame for all you guys to be wasting your time, energy and money. if anyone male or female had to wash their hair every day throughout history, we would all be bald. All you need is a mild shampoo, the most natural organic one you can’t afford and mild is better because you can always sub twice, but you may not need to. you will need a cream rinse, or a detangler and a large tooth comb and to go through it from the end in gently do not pull or break your hair. you can simply buy argon oil, which is the best one of the natural oils for your hair and make your own detangler distilled water or just put a little in your hands and put it on the ends. You can use it before you wash it or after to , just go sparingly you can always add more. wash it whenever you want but if it gets too dry, wash it less and take care of the ends more. Other than that you don’t need to wash it more than every two weeks unless you ride on a motorcycle without a helmet etc. it all depends on how quick you get greasy enough for it to affect your hairstyle, the one you want. unless you use a blow dryer, or straightening iron, the better, but use it as much as you have to be extremely gentle and careful. Use a diffuser. people never pay this much attention to their hair and you can really end up overworking it or overthinking it, and have no time to relax. And that’s bad for your hair and everything else on you. In the 50s when I was a little girl, there were many magnificent actresses and they beat the hell out of their hair. They teased it sprayed it did whatever they wanted to do it and they just cut off the ends every couple months. This is not rocket science. Good luck.
