Professional hacker ("Social Engineer") Christopher Hadnagy explains how we can protect ourselves from email "phishing", voice-based "vishing", and text-based "SMShing" attacks from con artists. Christopher Hadnagy, is the founder and CEO of Social-Engineer, LLC. Chris possesses over 16 years experience as a practitioner and researcher in the security field. His efforts in education and awareness have helped to expose social engineering as a top threat to security today.
Chris established the world’s first social engineering penetration testing framework at social-engineer.org, as well as the first hands-on social engineering training course and certification, Advanced Practical Social Engineering, attended by law enforcement, military, and private sector professionals.
Chris is also the best-selling author of three books; Social Engineering: The Art of Human Hacking, Unmasking the Social Engineer: The Human Element of Security and Phishing Dark Waters: The Offensive and Defensive Sides of Malicious Emails.
Chris has been invited to the Pentagon to debrief 30+ general officers and government officials on social engineering and its effect on the United States. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Great talk. thank you. I don't answer the phone unless they are in contact. I don't have social media on my phone. And on my computer I have everyone one on "Ignore" But it's hard to stay vigilant all the time.

I would love to this correlated with those who practice or claim to have clairvoyant abilities. I also agree there is good and bad to the hacking process and this talk does a great job illustrating that

Carl Sagan and James Randi did a better job at that. Carl Sagan with his Demon-Haunted World book and James Randi with.... everything he ever did. Especially his Ted Talk.
