This video is for guys who are doing their own work in their own house or backyard. Its a 02 Ram with a 4.7 in this video it'll show you in steps on how to prep block before installing new heads. Also shows you how to torque heads down onto block, which is very important. Ive done it and my ram is running like new without any problems and started on the fist crank. Timing video will be up too.
Tools i used for prepping block-
Orbital sander and sand paper both @ 100 grit, thread cleaning tool, acetone & break cleaner, lint free rags, mini shop vac. These were the only items i used for block prep.
Tools i used for mounting heads-
Acetone, lint free cloth, 15mm & 10mm socket with 3" extension, ratchet & torque ratchet. Ive made my own tap tool to clean the treads because the holes were deep and to buy one that works cost $$$. Plus you had to buy the set 😥
Torque specs & steps-
Step 1
Torque bolts 1 through 10 to 15 lbs. And keep retorque the bolt sequence until all bolts click without turning bolt. This is very important part of this job.
Step 2
Torque bolts 1 through 10 to 35 lbs then torque bolts 11 through 14 to 18 lbs. Be sure to follow bolt tightening sequence and retorqe until it clicks without turning bolt.
Step 3-
Turn 90° (1/4 turn) on bolts 1 through 10 the torque bolts 11 through 14 to 22lbs.
