at about 13 min in when you were confused about the AI running your hero back and forth it was because you do bonus charge damage the further away your come from when jousting on spiders. Would love to see more AoW4 content, there's some hilariously broken stuff you'd enjoy.

Civ6 was my first, and while I have seen Ursa Potato et al. showcase these other games they always fell flat. This is the very first time I instantly knew I found the next thing. Wtf that combat made me feel feelings.

That "after action" report showing the empire evolution is very cool and I'd like to see something like it in Civ. I'm thinking about games where it went horribly early and you made a ridiculous comeback and you could see the point of being overwhelmed and then when the tides turn

Great game. Age of Wonders 4 is a mix between Heroes 3 and Civ 6. The only thing it's missing is the godly soundtrack of Age of Wonders 1.

This game is nothing like Civ though (well, I guess there is one aspect like earlier Civs: is that science (research) is everything and one does not need to build anything else in one's cities). Just make 6 heroes (1 leader + 5 heroes) and spend all your imperium on hero cap. 6 heroes with wisps and golems (tomes of summoning and artificing) as well as magic evocations will wipe anything in the game.

I personally think magic is the best resource in the game especially late game as you can just spawn units mapwide, cast spells in battle upgrade with global buffs and even upkeep units with it. I have a mech build where I spawn in whole armies of steam tanks that can solo whole hero army stacks the late game ai likes to use.

battle/siege mechanics are 1 to 1 replicas to total war combat. The best combat that meshes skill expressiveness and simpleness is the most pleasing. Supreme combat technique.

I've been meaning to get rhis AOE4 myself. The thing is that I'm not particularly interested getting into another solo gaming experience at the moment. I've been wanting something like one of my favorite tbs games, Eador (It didn't age well). I still play Endless Legends and I think AOE4 will be an similar if not better experience overall. Be a Wizard King is right up my ally.

hopefully this video proves it but it took me 2 games and I'm pretty up to speed in it! Giev it a go, it's hugely customisable but the core mechanics are simple

good first experience will say there's alot you missed but is too be expected like the tomes giving the value of things like the first game the tomes giving you empire essence each tome type has a playstyle and you had in that game the vassal and being holy build so gold and imperium is heavy in that but on like shadow(purple) it is heavy research and mana costly so one resource more important then other is more about what books you are playing and so much more like item forge too unit augments too race maker(big one)

A bit of advice for anyone looking into this game, it's really, REALLY focused on the combat, and simming is basically non-existent. A lot of people like that, but it wasn't to my taste.

Auto combat I find really helps to balance it - speeds the game along nicely!
