Hey man important tip for iRacing: if you lock up, understeer or oversteer too much you will OVERHEAT the tyre surface basically during single corner entry and you'll lose a ton of grip. It's not a think in real life but in iRacing it actually helps to get A LOT MORE rotation if you don't overheat tyre surface. And also in cars with ABS try not to use the ABS too much because that causes microlocking therefore overheating fronts and understeering for like 10 seconds after. That depends on how much time you have to cool down the surface of the tyres. Otherwise I want to say its a great video and im looking forward for more of your content like this! Thanks!

Yea, this. If you spin out, it can take a lap before they cool back down enough that you won't accidentally spin out again. I think overheating tires is technically a thing in real life but not as pronounced as is it is in iRacing. It also doesn't do partial tire things. So, if you skid, it doesn't make bald spots or heat up only part of the tire. I believe the tire is broken up into an inner/middle/outer part and those are the parts that can change.

if hes got the default pedals they aint load cells unless they have the load cell mod.. its an odd choice of wheel base to considering how old it is
@MeTaLiStACZM
@MeTaLiStACZM Ай бұрын
@@Zdman2001 yes, you can overheat tyres in real life but not like in iRacing where it takes literally just braking with the ABS few corners, single lock up or single short wheel spin and it's only the tyre surface. Also the bigger the difference in surface and inner temperature, the bigger loss of grip in iR.

Daniel Morad who is a GT3 driver compared IRacing with his real life experience, and he said that iRacing has the best brake feel of all the simulators out there. He uses iRacing for that reason to practice. Upgrading to a load cell or even a hydraulic brake pedal, if you use the sim as a learning tool, is of course a necessity.

Are you sure that both iRacing and Thrustmaster app are both on the 900º ?. It seems, too me at least, that you are turning the steering wheel too much on corners ...

Very interesting and somewhat reassuring to hear a proper race driver talk about the minuscule difference between being able to take a corner well and borderline binning it. It's what I'm struggling with the most, particularly in iRacing (Assetto Corsa Competizione seem much more forgiving). The threshold between a well taken corner and eating some tyre barrier pie feels so small, I've always assumed irl this threshold is mush more forgiving. At 19:53 I'm pretty sure that spin was induced by just clipping the grass. Would that induce such a violent spin irl?

Thanks for getting me to watch that back I was cringing loads hahaha!! To be honest I’m not 100% sure if I did dip a wheel on the grass it’s hard to tell but for sure I did both braking input and steering input at the exact same time which the sim doesn’t like. In real life it would also create rotation but not as suddenly. (If I did touch the grass that would’ve been bad in real life too lol)

As I understand you, your description of max turning force being available at max braking disagrees with the many texts on racing that I've read especially with what I've read in Ross Bentley's excellent speeds secrets series. The traction circle shows this. At 100% breaking, there is 0% traction available to initiate turn in. Only as the brakes come back from 100% do the front wheels gain any ability to turn in at all. I don't know how easy or hard that might be to detect in a formula car, but the sedans that I have taught track driving in, this effect is quite prominent. It is the whole coming off of the brake in a way that smoothly transfers the available traction from breaking to cornering that is called trail braking. The speed secrets books are an absolute must for anybody who cares about this stuff.

 Thanks! You described many things I didn’t know how to describe when driving this car in iracing You seem a little bit confused with the behavior of the car in this simulator. I’ve also found that sliding weird but now you confirm it’s different irl 16:50 The entry mid corner is where I struggle the most with this car. About feeling the car, you might want to: press ctrl + A after two laps to adjust the FFB and tune the volume to listen better the tires.

As someone with only go-karting experience irl and lots of iracing experience, on corner entry, breaking softer to get more rotation early, turning in less and trail breaking so your maximum rotation point is at the apex gives you more grip mid corner and better exits. Dunno how realistic that is but the physics of how the tyres are heated in game means coasting to the apex doesn’t give you the optimal exit
@f1_onboardsAC

Isn´t it how this car should be rotated IRL? Principally trail braking and not so much coasting and steering inputs i mean. If I'm mistaken and missed your point let me know.

mind if i ask, whats the reason why did you do so much wheel input in the outlap, as seen in the first few minutes? what is your logic and reason behind it, why so aggressive? I already know to a degree what you will answer, i just want to know what goes through your head when you do it, what do you expect, what do you want to find out, etc

I personaly don't have any real life experience. So i like to hear any real life driver oppinion about sim racing. Specially about iracing. I wonder if the people commenting on iracing have the correct fov settings, calibration of their equipment and so on. Of course, some settings may be personalized. However, I also know that there are a lot of details adjusted by mechanics or officials when making real vehicle settings. For this reason, I think all calibrations and adjustments should be adjusted to get the right feeling and some settings should be customized according to the person. Frankly, I would like to watch an informative video on this subject. As far as I researched, iracing should improve itself in terms of tire physics. Although there are better simulations regarding vehicle dynamics, iracing seems to be good on average. At least it's adaptable. Let me explain where I got this idea: from other people like you who are real racing drivers. (I know it sounds like I'm praising iracing. But it's not exactly like that) :) Cheers mate.

It's quite complex to replicate at 100% perfection a race car in a home setup, iRacing does a pretty decent work IMO. Is correct to assume that the lack of G forces also make Sims quite difficult to understand, apart from obviously some non similarities they have with real life? I mean, do you think that you would understand the behaviour on entry with G forces etc? Thanks for this type of content, is super interesting for us who can´t race in the real thing!

I've done tons of real life F1600 and "F2000" racing and season at Jim Russel Racing Academy, Bridgestone Racing Academy, and Skip Barber and the iRacing F1600 sucks. Like all iRacing cars, it's wayyy too un-dynamic and just..."bland" to drive. Also, it's way too easy to drive with barely using steering input (again, like all iRacing cars). There's a fantastic Mark Webber F1600 onboard real-life video. The car behaves, grips, looses grip, regains grip, rotates, etc. COMPLETELY differently to the iRacing F1600. I highly suggest trying the F1600 in Netkar Pro or a similiar vehicle in Live For Speed for a much better, much more dynamic experience. The F1600 in Automobilista 1 certainly isn't perfect but still wayyy better than the iRacing one. P.S. What you described at 16:55...spot on. However, that sort of vehicle/tyre behaviour from time to time can occur in all sims unfortunately.
