How's SULAWESI FOOD in Jakarta? 🇮🇩

Around the corner of my hotel there's a Sulawesi restaurant with dozens of google reviews. Also the locals around here say that it's the best Manado restaurant in Jakarta. So I went there and tried it by myself. It's a big place with plenty of people. The service quality was not the best in my opinion, because no one served me. The point is: In some restaurants you're supposed to sit down and the waiters bring you the menu. In West Sumatra they bring you even 20 plates with different Padang food. And in some restaurants you just order directly at the entrance area. But that was not a big deal for me. The food was delicious. And it was more expensive than I expected. Note: 2 of my 3 meals only contained a half portion, so the 'real' price would have been even higher. In total around 250,000 IDR ($16) I would say.
The food that I had:
- Ayam Woku (Chicken Wok)
- Tinutuan / Bubur Manado (Manado Porridge)
- Cakalang Rabe Rica (Salted and smoked skipjack tuna sandwiched between bamboo frames)

The Tinutuan looks delicious. The chicken looks spicy. My favorite food in Manado: Sate Babi Pedas, and Brenebon soup and sambal roa.

Hello, Manado food is delicious. You can eat Buffet (Pork, chicken, fish, beef) with only 2 dollars in Manado. One of the most famous place for these kind of food is "Rumah Makan Heng Mien" The best of Manado foods are of course spiced pork and spiced shred Tuna Cakalang

Fav food when going to manado resto.... The standard would be Rice, corn fritters, papaya flower stir fry and whatever main sides u like fish cikn whatever. Best manado sambal is dabu2 with fresh green tomato.

Don't be upset with the waiter, he probably can't speak English at all. The restaurant only serve halal food. Manado pork dishes are very good though. Dog meat are known as their traditional celebration dish, but I read that it's no longer allowed though probably it's still common. Try their weird but delicious combination: fried banana with skipjack tuna sambal.

The North Sulawesi ( Minahasa / Manado ) foods differs from South Sulawesi. Try them all. My favorite is Manado Food. Jakarta price is so expensive.
