Cobra Kai is an American martial arts comedy-drama streaming television series and a sequel to the Karate Kid's original movie directed by Robert Mark Kamen. The series was created by Josh Heeld, John Harwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, who repeated their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence in the 1984 movie The Karate Kid. Thirty-four years later, the Cobra Kai examines the story of "Miyagi Verse" from Johnny's point of view, his decision to reopen the Cobra Kai Karate Dojo, and the resurgence of his old competition with Daniel. The Cobra Kai also plays Xolo Mariduena, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Dechenzo, Martin Kove, Vanessa Rubio and Peyton List. This series boasts high ratings on both KZfaq and Netflix and has received widespread positive reviews from critics. The third season was also nominated for an "Outstanding Comedy Series" at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards. The first season started on KZfaq Red in 2018 and the second season continued in 2019. After the production of the third season was completed, KZfaq decided to stop producing the original scripted show and leave the show without a house. Netflix acquired the series in June 2020 and released the third season on January 1, 2021. Netflix expanded the series to the fourth season, released on December 31, 2021. The fourth season of the Cobra Kai was released on Netflix on December 31, 2021 and consists of 10 episodes. This series is a direct sequel to the four original films of The Karate Kid franchise, focusing on the characters of Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, more than 30 years after the original film. Following the first two seasons on KZfaq, Netflix will release the second season. There are 12 protagonists in the season, nine of which are back from the previous season, two are added to the main cast after being repeated in the previous season, and one is a newcomer to the series that repeats the role from the franchise. Miguel is the neighbor of former karate champion Johnny Lawrence, who convinces Johnny to train him. Miguel helps him to reopen and establish a student base at Cobra Kai Dojo, though he quickly falls into the Cobra Kai mentality of "no mercy". As his attitude shifts, his relationship with Samantha LaRusso falls apart, leading to a dangerous rivalry of his own with Johnny's estranged son, Robby Keene. Their rivalry reaches a boiling point, resulting in Miguel suffering a spinal injury, after getting sent over a balcony and hitting the stairs. When he does awaken from his coma, he is ready to rebuild his life in a healthier mindset. He recruits Johnny's help once again, this time, forming a new dojo away from the merciless teachings of John Kreese. Miguel is caught in the middle of his sensei’s long-standing rivalry with Daniel LaRusso. Despite learning of the rivalry, Miguel gains some respect for and accepts the teachings of Sensei Daniel, as well as repairing his relationship with Sam. Robby is the son of karate sensei Johnny Lawrence and alcoholic Shannon Keene. Initially a troublemaker that broke the rules, Robby began to change his ways when Daniel LaRusso entered his life. He learned discipline, acceptance, and to control the anger within him. He became the first disciple of the new generation of Miyagi-Do Karate and had a blossoming relationship with Daniel's daughter, Sam. His feelings for her led to a bloody rivalry with Miguel Diaz, which came to a head during a brawl at West Valley High. With Miguel now hospitalized, Robby was arrested and sentenced to Sylmar Juvenile Corrections Center for the remainder of his sentence. Robby was left conflicted over who to trust, as Daniel had betrayed him by turning him in, while Johnny favored Miguel. His loneliness left him susceptible to the smooth-talking John Kreese, who recruited him into the newly reinvented Cobra Kai Dojo. Having cut ties with his absentee father and his former sensei, Robby established himself as Kreese’s top student. He learned to lead - and to be ruthless. He became an unlikely mentor to Kenny Payne, though the boy's transformation from a kind boy to a ruthless bully forced Robby to face the ugly truths of Cobra Kai. With nowhere left to turn, Robby reunited with Johnny in hopes of making things better for himself. Robby subsequently made amends with his father, Daniel and Miguel and rejoined Miyagi-Do.
