What I loved about the Symbiote that they did in the game was how it was affected by Peter and Harry. To me, it wasn’t inherently evil, it was just wanted the strongest host (Peter) and was affected by his grief and repressed anger. When Miles and Martin were in Peter’s head, I loved the line “but it might be how Peter feels” in regard to the Symbiote killing the mental constructs of criminals Peter’s put away. Deep down, part of Peter wants to kill the villains because if he did so earlier, Devil’s Breath wouldn’t have happened and Aunt May would still be alive. The Symbiote is seeing a problem and finding the simplest solution. It also sees dreams and goals and provides the best course of action. Peter wants to be the best Spider-man he can be while balancing his life around, so the suit makes everything easier for him, it takes care of him, and when it sees how angry Peter feels about Kraven and the hunters, it wants to solve the problem by getting rid of them. When Harry wants to heal the world, the Symbiote finds the means by using the meteorite to give everyone a Symbiote (considering Harry was thriving with it before it jumped to Peter). The suit didn’t even go after the meteorite when it was with Peter. It wasn’t secretly trying to take over the world. It was just trying to fix the problems everyone had. And it only got defensive when others saw it as a threat. It even protected MJ from the hunters until she hurt it with the Tazer, which made it see her as a threat who wants to separate it from Peter. There’s so much potential that gets lost in the rushed time it has, and the characters viewing it as the suit putting the words in everyone’s mouths and being evil doesn’t help with the presentation how the Symbiote actually works. And as a side note, one of my biggest gripes is the side missions feeling less cohesive than the previous two games. The flame missions especially felt like they kept interrupting the story with how often the main missions feel like a “we need to get to this thing now”. Especially the last mission becoming available in the afternoon with a “is the crimson hour happening NOW?” But it’s set at night, and clearly meant to take place before Peter gets the anti-venom suit because of the focus on the suit damage when he’s set on fire. Also, Yuri just strangely becomes superhuman with the jumps she makes and lifting concrete off of herself. It just felt slapped on, especially with how the Symbiote arc has no impact on it whatsoever

you're right the story was getting crammed halfway through, especially when out of nowhere venom just covered the earth and infected everyone in a matter of seconds

Story wasnt as good as the first, but then I think about starfield and suicide squad and Spider-man 2 feels like a masterpiece

Spider Man 2 is a great game. The only thing rushed was the third act as per Bryan Intihar. Sony really shouldn't pressure them. Spider Man 2 story is amazing but could have been better Edit: this could have been delayed to early or mid 2024 to have a perfect third act and have all cut content like NG plus coming at launch

There was so much unnecessary fluff in Spiderman 2 that dragged it way down. Very disappointing.

At the end of the day Insomniac was responsible for the story, side quests and gameplay and most of that was terrible or a let down so putting the balm on Sony is kinda dumb. It’s a business and you can’t keep funding a project indefinitely without having set goals within a certain time period.

Please, get your facts straight. It was in development for only 3 years due to quarantine. They didn't give insomniac nearly enough time to finish it, and it could easily have been 50 to 60 hours long.

For what I want for Marvel Spider-Man 3 is that it should be a 59 hour long game just like in Batman Arkham games i want both Insomniac and Sony is to gave Insomniac Norman Osborn more build up to become as Green Goblin they should also take Cindy Moon time as silk like more build up. And I want both Insomniac Peter Miles and Cindy both fighting their own version of Insomniac Green Goblin. And I want both Insomniac Peter and Insomniac Mary Jane Watson to have their own daughter named Mayday. And the final thing I want for Marvel Spider-Man 3 is that I want to see Both Insomniac Peter Parker Spider-Man Insomniac Miles Morales and Insomniac Cindy Moon Silk to have a one last final swing and there you go a final ULTIMATE conclusion to Insomniac Spider-Man game franchise. I hope Sony realize that rushing is not going to work out for their future projects movies and game and that’s all of I want to see for Marvel Spider-Man 3.

While I love shitting on Sony as much as the next guy, majority of the blame unfortunately goes towards insomniac I mean Sony gave them half a decade and a movie level budget and they had nothing to show for it. Brian Intihar was too focused on giving us MJ missions and other missions that are slow, boring, and are nothing but walk and talk missions (carnival, Hailey, the school, the emf). Sure individually they are small but when you combine their runtimes together that’s insane Plus Intihar made it seem like they cut stuff out to make sure MJ missions were included in the game

I may be getting the feeling that the Insomniac Spider-Man trilogy is likely going to end up being like the Star Wars sequel trilogy, due to Spider-Man 2 being flawed exactly like the Last Jedi. The first Spider-Man game for the PS4 is great much like The Force Awakens which set up the story and the world, then you have Spider-Man 2 which I already mentioned is controversial much like The Last Jedi, and now, I fear that Spider-Man 3 that's coming in the future is gonna end up like The Rise of Skywalker in which Sony and Insomniac are gonna end up undoing everything in SM2 and pretend that none of it ever happened and will end disastrously much like the latter. Insomniac needs to get their act together and set things right for this series because I fear for the worst for this franchise after what went on with that disastrous third act of the second game.

I agree with this video. It definitely would have been great to let peter have more time with the symbiote, see him interact with it more and possibly have conversations between the two in person or in a dream

Even though I still love the game, I agree. I love Venom but I do wish we got more of him. And those concept arts would've looked amazing in game. Sony most likely did rush this game. Hopefully they don't rush in Wolverine or Spider-Man 3.

You know as someone who loves this game both gameplay and story wise (although i admit i did want more from it and i know there was going to be), im glad to finally find a video reflecting on the story in a more negative sense that i can actually respect, because i understand where you're coming from with this I loved the story and ill admit ps4 has a better one, although this one could've been on par if not better if insomniac was given more time with it

In my opinion the first two acts were pretty good, Kraven was an absolute badass and was really intimidating, my issue is how the symbiote stuff got handled, like didn't feel like Peter went that far, and that plotline where he kept ghosting Miles only to then ask him to do shit for him feels underdeveloped, like it could've been interesting Then act 3 kinda drops the ball and feels rushed, like I find it hard to buy the conflict as they did such a good job of making Peter and Harry friends in act 1, so I don't think Harry would turn on Peter the way he did, so they just say the symbiote is controlling him, which isn't how it worked in act 2 when Peter had it, hell nothing like that happened in act 1 when Harry himself was using it We've heard how much dialogue went unused from venoms va so I think Sony just wanted them to rush the development to have an exclusive this year Then there's anti venom, I saw a KZfaqr explain it as "if luke Skywalker got the dark side if the force without any negative drawbacks" which is a perfect comparison, the only excuse I've seen for this is that they needed to explain why we can use the abilities after losing the symbiote, but there was an easy solution, take them away, then let use play through the game with them selectable again in new game+

Spiderman 2 game is great to play

Look, don't get me wrong, Spider Man 2 is a fantastic game, I agree, the story is great but it could have been better. Granted it is the best Spider Man game as it has a 91 on Metacritic. But can it be better in a way where the Metacritic score is higher than it already is? Yes absolutely. Story is great until the third act because Sony has to pressure them didn't they? Thats the same mistake GOW Ragnarok suffered from but both games are good no doubt. They created an unsuitable working condition thats why there has been layoffs recently. Especially with the unemployment rate rising. Sony may have been responsible but at the same time I feel like it was also the fans' fault for whining and criticising that PS5 barely has any exclusives and they wanted more. So they wanted money so badly and hopefully to diffuse the whining from fans. Regardless the story is 8/10 but overall game is 9/10. But it could have been better in a way where the story is the better than the first game story (at least better than Miles Morales story). And it could have been in a way where the game can be higher than 9/10 overall.
