Brooo... We really need a controller

Agreed. Everyone seems to want another big, destroying midfielder, but we already have that in Casemiro. Look how that’s going. We also have Mctominay, who plays a similar style, and I think Mainoo is more of a ball winner than people give him credit for. We need someone intelligent to just sit deep and dictate tempo. I really think people are missing the target on what we should be looking for. None of the top teams in the world have a destroying 6 like that. They all have their own version of a Carrick/Rodri/Busquets type. It’s also interesting that Bruno is arguably the main culprit for giving the ball away unnecessarily for us, but when he plays for Portugal, he keeps the ball nicely, often getting above 85% pass accuracy. I’ve always thought that that’d be impossible for such a creative player like him, but maybe this proves that it’s down to instruction rather than the player himself.

except quality deep lying playmakers don't grow on trees. they enable greatness in the teams they play for but they don't exist in bunches. just look at the successful teams in the euros now: germany has kroos playing the role, spain has rodri, switzerland is deploying xhaka there. then look at the teams struggling: england's rice is really not a tempo controller, netherlands has been up and down because de jong didn't make the team because of injury. the other part of the euro comparison is the balance mentioned by aj requires a water carrier. germany has andrich, spain has fabian ruiz and netherlands basically have two of them in reijnders and schouten, as does france with kante and rabiot. i don't think mainoo nor bruno can be that, to shuttle between the 6 and 10 space to help out in both attack and defense. so i think the balance will still be off simply because mainoo and bruno will make for too lightweight a midfield, whoever else you throw into the mix, both as it pertains to stature and space eating in transition defense.

@@oscarjenkins7505 i agree but i think for completely honest they need defensive skills just because we dont have other midfielder like Roy Keane or Scholes, but yes ability on the ball should be main priority, but i dont think there is a lot number 6 like that, especially on the market. the main reason Bruno doing that is because we struggling, if we winning that naturally will decreasing.

Seriously, people are sleeping on him. Offers exactly what we've been missing, besides aerial ability. He's gonna cook this season.

@@Sam-bd7gp that’s one thing I’ll never understand with us. We’ll be happy to pay 60/70m+ for a player once they’ve made it in the PL. Surely it would make more sense taking a gamble buying them from abroad for cheaper before they’re the finished product

@@directorme6669 tbf I don’t just mean this case. The Caicedo deal always comes to mind, we could have had him for the same 5m Brighton paid to get him from Ecuador. Even if he wasn’t ready for us at the time that’s what loan moves are for but ofc that’s too hard for the clowns running us 😂

I actually have a few question marks over Onana as a signing, but I do think he ticks alot of the boxes I actually went through this process a while ago (before I wanted Onana) and it was this that made me want him 💚

In all seriousness, everyone is entitled to their opinion but if United go for a player you don't like then they are not serious? By all means, outline why you don't think Ugarte is a good option (despite ticking quite a few of the boxes mentioned) but dismissing Ineos and the personnel they have hired based on one target we are rumoured to be pursuing suggests you are the one who is not a serious person (and frankly money talks and they are the ones getting paid huge sums for their football knowledge so to imply you know better without having the same status and authority in football seem faintly ridiculous). This is not even to say you are definitely wrong, Ugarte could well be a mistake but at least give the people making the decision the benefit of the doubt as they are undoubtedly basing their decisions on much more info, inside info about the player and expert insight than is available to you. If in a few years, United's transfer business still seems poor in hindsight, then there has been enough time and evidence to dismiss the current management and recruitment team as incompetent, you are way, way too early to dismiss them given you are a total nobody.

Also, Rice isn't the perfect partner for Mainoo because he is more an 8 than a 6 and we have to get the right blend with Bruno taken into accoubt aswell. We need a defensive player who is press resistant and has the passing ability to beat a press.

Kobbie is tall. He can train his positioning & heading. CR7 did it. He can do it too. And he has to improve on his passing range if he is to control the midfield

Really good player! Probably so good that he wouldn't accept playing a backup role to Licha, so if we were to sign him, I think it would have to be at left back

@@AJAnalysis He is so good! It's almost like swearing in church, but he might be an upgrade on Martinez, at least in the long term. If we could get him it would be huge. But like you said, he's almost too good that it doesn't really make sense for us to get him now. Maybe if we get Lucumi instead, Bologna would want to sell Calafiori. And Lucumi would be a great backup for both LCB and RCB. Plus I think he can also play LB in a pinch. I think getting him makes a lot more sense. But Calafiori makes me salivate a lot more...

⁠@@cybermannebetter than Licha? Even in long term, Licha’s profile is superior. Top 5 CB’s in Europe in terms of ball playing ability. Licha replaces any man city/arsenal defender anyday. Calafiori is good, but just don’t get in the hype train because of Euros and one good season in Bologna. He can play as a LB at man u and will be a better option compared to Jarred. I will give you that.

He's shown some vision here and there, definitely has the ability, just a case of filling out his game. He's already so complete it's mind-boggling.
