Catterick's Infantry Training Centre has welcomed back its newest recruits, after the coronavirus pandemic paused their training. They were halfway through their course when lockdown began, and have now picked up where they left off after nearly nine weeks away. However, the news recruits' training has been adapted, in order to meet social distancing guidance. We joined them in Catterick earlier this month.

To me the army is one big extended family. Were even after leaving it, your still part of it. I have been fortunate during the pandemic I along with several other veterans have been helping vulnerable veteran in and around our area. After all we are all family, army family

Sounds like it has been well thought out. The “family” concept is a good idea. It also helps develop unit cohesion.

No offence but I have been cleaning for my school twice a day clearing all sorts of fluids and deep cleaning for keyworker children to year 6. so they say children are germ breeders but so far all teachers and cleaners Covid free. I think as long as you wash your hands don’t pick your nose rub your eyes and put dirty fingers in your mouth you should be ok. The downside is you can’t prevent sneezing and coughing and ingesting that .

@Oliver O'Donovan Well im not willing to give up my whole life to have it distanced, contacts ruined and future careers altered to a frustrating alien world just to keep a minority safe. The virus is unpleasant, but at large, is not lethal. Because the news shows you all the death wards we think it is deadly, but it hasn't shown you the overall picture
@aquillandscroll6428
@aquillandscroll6428 4 жыл бұрын
BAXON HAIR Whilst I agree with the notion, the US armed forces are already an example with an aircraft carrier having the virus spread. The virus has rare cases of damaging the respiratory organs such as the lungs, which lowers lung capacity permanently. Not a good thing when you’re a soldier. Better to be safe than sorry. These drills will also help train the troops for a scenario where there may be a much deadlier and faster spreading pathogen and how to conduct war fare in such situations. Furthermore, the reason South Korea has been able to keep their deaths lower than 500 is due to them being alert and maintain the distancing and sanitising their hands and wearing masks every time they’re outside. Something the public in the UK cannot do, hence the significantly larger number of deaths than South Korea, even if we have around the same size of population.

You can't social distance in barracks and it's just a nonsense when in the field. It's all b/s to appease the Government. Frankly, few people in the Services actually believe in this government-inspired claptrap as applied to the Services. They do it because they have to, that's all. And with a weary roll-eyes at that.

@@l3gionmusic814 look, most people survive. People cannot always live like this. Many people in the British services will be fine, just get a cold mostly. What doesn't help is people being driven to paranoia by the media, so when they get it, they over react to it and have lethal results. Why not tell people to stay calm. Not paranoia.
