One team dominates in Germany and has dominated for a long time.
Bayern Munich are on course for their 15th league title since 2000.
But how do they do it?

@@Mjwara Exactly. I mean the same could be said of the Ligue 1 pre-Lyon and pre-PSG dominance. Sure it had a moment of monopoly by a corrupt Marseille in the early 90s, but man look at the madness that followed in the mid-90s, after Marseille was stricken of their title, PSG won their second, Nantes their 7th, then Auxerre their first, then Monaco their 6th, then Lens their first, then Bordeaux, Monaco, Nantes, then Lyon came, and after Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille, Lille and Montpeillier won. I mean that's a crazy run of competitivity, with clubs like Metz having a solid 90s at the top too, amongst others. And they were able to be decent enough in Europe at the time. I really like the Bundesliga and mildly enjoy the Ligue 1 and wish it had more respect of the other fans because they have good models on how to run a league overall.

@@yoorie19 To be fair, that was only one season in 3. Liga. In fact, this season Bayern II are in serious danger of relegation, while Dortmund II are almost certainly going to get promoted to 3. Liga, meaning we could get a case where the Dortmund reserves will be ranked higher than the Bayern reserves. Which I think just reflects Dortmund's incredible eye for young talent. Already, they've got a host of talented teenagers ready to take up the mantle (Bellingham, Reyna, Knauf, Moukoko, etc). And they deserve credit for the way they went from edge of ruin in the mid 2000s to debt free just a decade later. They've also been doing a better job at keeping their talent longer than expected in recent seasons (everyone thought Sancho would be gone two seasons ago) and they've actually been scoping up more rival Bundesliga talent recently than Bayern have. Unfortunately, a combination of the pandemic and coaching issues has seriously derailed their build towards being legitimate Bayern challengers. I really hope they can qualify for Champions League, otherwise they will almost certainly be seeing a mass exodus that they've managed to avoid the past couple seasons (and also neither Wolfsburg nor Frankfurt really have the depth to compete in the CL the way Dortmund can).

Man city is not "financially steroid injected"-you are trying to imply cheating without stating which laws they are breaking. The EPL tv deal shares the money more eqitably than the Bundesliga tv deal so the EPL is more competitive even though not all EPL clubs have wealthy owners.

Why do we not consider the negative feedback loop of tv revenue "steroids". Football is now a popularity contest but everyone bags on PSG because it's easy to dump on Middle-Easter countries but less so the mega-corporations, broadcasters, etc that keep the other clubs rich who are supposedly "doing it the right way." The cognitive dissonance is palpable.

As a new football fan this is what I found a little weird. In other leagues like NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB I’m used to every team having at least one player that could be considered Top 10 or 5 at their position due to draft and salary cap which incentivizes losing in a sense but it’s main purpose is to stop teams from hording talent due to having more money or history. Players can still leave in free agency but usually when players first start out they have to go to specific teams. When I started watching Football I noticed that all of the best players at each position for some leagues were all on the top 4-8 teams.

@Maximiliano Guerra Calderon I agree, I think they work for their respective sports. Especially considering Football’s size and number of No.1 Leagues draft wouldn’t possibly work, and hard salary caps might but the bigger clubs would never agree to that. Overall I enjoy each of the main 4 US sports and International Football how they are. Super League might’ve been a decent idea when Football was in its silver age but implementing it now would be hurtful to Football as a collective.

The problem for other clubs is not necessarily that Bayern buys all of their players, but that Bayern is the only club in Germany that can retain its talent. If Bayern doesn't poach their brightest stars, some English or Spanish team will. Thus, other teams in Germany have to reinvent themselves every other year, whereas Bayern can hold on to those that really do flourish in its culture, like Neuer, Mueller, Lewandowski, Robben or Ribery. In other clubs, those players would have 2 good years, and then leave, or play another year and leave on a free. Look at Werner and Havertz, who have already left their clubs, or Haaland and Sancho (and Bellingham) who will do the same this summer, or the next. If they played at Bayern, there's no need to sell, and salaries are competitive enough, so other top clubs can't easily poach.

However, you can't really compare between a single entity monopolizing their local talent market against multiple entity fighting each other for the local talent market. Bayern doesn't have to fight any *local* clubs for Bundesliga's stars because no other clubs has the same status as them in Germany, their only competition is foreign clubs.

Dortmund had a chance with Klopp, they were actually ambitious and wanted to win titles They didn't want to sell Lewandowski, and u could see that in klopp's interview before lewa left. I have always had a sore spot when it comes to lewa, gotze and Hummels, those 3 along with Reus could have won many titles and trophies, but they threw it for the easier route Since then even Dortmund have given up on title races. They have now become a feeder club, a place for youngsters to improve only for them to leave They need 11 Reus like players who r ready to dedicate themselves, but practicality that's impossible, not r they willing to go out of their way to convince players to stay And with the potential loss of nagelsmann, Leipzig r also gonna have a hard time playing catch up with Bayern.

I'm curious, and I'd be grateful to anyone who could provide more insight. In light of the Super League rising and falling faster than we could blink, there were calls for reforms, such as 50+1, but I wonder how that would impact the Premier League. The so-called Big Six would obviously have the advantage in terms of revenue, renown, and scope, but I wonder how "bigger market" is defined in Europe. Here in America, "bigger market" refers to larger media markets, so NYC is #1, LA is #2, etc. By that standard, it would seem like London based teams would have an advantage on paper, but I wonder how that plays out in reality.

You see some teams in countries wants to be small , they make their players so that other teams can buy them. Even the players play with such Nature that they'll be in a big team soon once their name gets into News. Look at Halaand for example , after Giants started to Mutter his name ? Dude started to sideline Dortmund & doesn't play the way he should & shows disappointment all the time. This is with Most German clubs & the players . Clubs make a team in s short span , pick out names & planning starts on whom they wanna make the next big thing. I always say - Bayern is a Team of Men that Competes with Dortmund ( A Team of just turned Adults ) & Dortmund Competes with Other Teams filled with New players every season. That's Bundesliga has become but lemme tell you one thing . If you take ou Bayern & you watch other teams plays ? You'll surely like Bundesliga a lot .

@@ironvalorantplayer6492 I wouldn't argue they buy cheap (Sure, in contrast to those Clubs which just throw away the money of a Sheik or alike maybe but I mean in general) - They buy smart and also put alot effort into developin' people. People often makin' fun about how Bayern does "burn Talents", on the other Hand we've to keep in mind how many top notch playern Bayern either directly produced or finished. Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Kroos, Müller, Hummels (Haha yes, he comes actually from the Bayern Youth), Emre Can, ... and those are just few examples from the last couple of decades. I also would argue that Players like Neuer, Boateng, Scholl, Martinez or Thiago got their final polish here. And the youth nowadays doesn't look too bad neither with examples like Muisala or also Stiller who joined Hoffenheim this Season.

Well I would say if you get most of the TV-money that has nothing to do with being a well run club. 50+1 is thechnically a good thing but it's also the the thing that is preventing any from challenging Bayerns financial muscle.

It's not only good for the club, but also the players. Some players that came from other Bundesliga clubs are now world class which they might not have achieved with their previous club. Sure it makes other teams weak but it's also the players decision to join bayern and compete at the highest level.

Hello from Brazil. In 1991 I felt in love about Bundesliga when Stuttgart, Dortmund, and Eintracht Frankfurt reached the final matchday with chances to raise the trophy. 30 years have passed and now I think the Superleague is a great deal for European Football because 2021/22 haven't even started but we all know Bayern will win its 10th Bundesliga title in a row.

Bayern does Buy a lot of Players of other Clubs, but Dortmund does it as well. An the bigger problem are leagues like the premier league, because of them the prises and payments continue to rise and Players want to leave the bundesliga.

It'll get broken once enough people turn away from it to more competitive leagues, and revenue drops. Some players will still aspire to play for Munich, but a lot will have their heads turned by teams who have more money due to greater interest. I imagine the DFB will step in should the overall quality drop, but they have no need to worry if it's always one team winning it provided they stay strong in Europe and in national competition.

Dortmund and Leipzig aren't forced to sell their players but by putting sell clauses in their players' contracts they are at fault. Also the rich PL clubs who regularly raid the Bundesliga are at fault too. This video blames it too much on Bayern who are just a great and well run club since many decades
@harveyepstein6265

The reason they sell their players is because the league is set up for Bayern- the EPL clubs are not "raiding" they are buying from clubs who are artificially weak because of the greedy mentality of the Bayernliga.

Rich PL clubs help those team by paying large transfer fees, that's what creates the balance. Bayern doesn't do that which creates a huge gap.

@@harveyepstein6265 so buying smart is club’s fault? The only problem in the league is the financial stability which is caused because of 50+1 and disallowing foreign investors. You’ve see what these clubs can do if they get the financial support(hoffenheim and Leipzig). And Bayern bought way lesser talents than Dortmund but let’s just ignore it and bash Bayern

I love watching Bayern as a fan since 2003. You need to understand to what high standard we are held. Basically whenever Bayern drops points 2 matches in a row, the press calls for a crisis. 2011/12 people laughed at us for finishing second in all 3 competitions. Every year before the season starts, fans from other clubs mock us that this year the team is old, fragile, slow, not elite anymore. There is a desire to compete at the top of the UCL (what lead to 4 finals and 2 wins in my time a s a fan), doing it better than the other Bundesliga clubs who haven‘t won anything in Europe since 1997.

This is why I'll always have respect for virtually any other team in Germany, and always despise Bayern (in terms of how the club is run, not the players). What's the point of a league if one club is so well set up to succeed at the detriment of the others? It defeats the whole point of a professional competitive league.
