They seem to be slim to none. Japan didn’t have many tanks we used the a lot against the Japanese infantry

The Reason was simply that 90% of the Main Japanese Army, which included most of the Tank Units and other Units, were stationed in China, Japan and other Parts they had under there Control. America only was fighting against 10% of the Japanese Army in the Pacific at most. Plus since they were a Island Nation, they focused more on Aircrafts and Ship instead of Weapons for Land Battles like Tanks ( They had the same old Doctrine like France had in 1940, like using Tanks in Infantry Units only for Support and such Things) which was why they had even until 1944/1945 Ha-Go, Chi-Ha and such Tanks as Main Tanks.

Tanks tend to be less common in amphibious operations. Think about getting them ashore, and only after the infantry secured the beach. They were mostly infantry support in the Pacific.

I mean most of Japanese tanks couldn't even scratch a Sherman. Surely infantry vs infantry was far worse for Americans than tank battles.

@@billd.iniowa2263Thanks Bill for the reply, i found his Marine history on site together we served, after reading the history of the 3rd battalion 6th marine regiment 2nd marine division is when it hit me just how close he was coming home alive, My grandparents never knew that,probably a good thing, my mom had 4 brothers and they all served 3 in WW2 and one soon after, my uncle Fred was in the army fought in Philippines and my uncle Jesse was a submariner USS Barb, uncle Ralph got in right after war ended, he also was a marine, wanted to get some revenge for his brothers death, all enlisted, sons of immigrants who proudly served their country.

I just commented on that and shared an article of 6 amphibious battles the Army fought in the Pacific

technicaly, they were tanks, tracks and armored...They were very bad ones....

For what they were initially designed, the Type 95 Ha Go (the japanese tank depicted in this video) was an excellent tank. That tank was designed to meet mid 1930s specifications, and was a great asset in the early years of the war in Chine, outclassing all the armored vehicles it faced in that theatre. Also it was the ideal tank to use in an island campaign, with dense vegetation and lots of muddy terrain, as its small size would help maneuvering the vehicle, and would outperform most vehicles the defenders of said islands would have at that time. The Type 95 Ha Go was a victim of its initial success, and since it faired so well, the japanese didn't saw the need for initial replacement. When the US first entered the war in the Pacific, numerous M3 and M5 light tanks were used in that theatre, and the Type 95 could handle that position, although being outclassed in all regards. Only when the M4 and the M3 Lee/Grant was brough in to the Pacific campaign was the moment that the Japanese faced an opposition that their tanks couldn't handle, but by then their War Economy couldn't handle the massive production of new models of tanks, so the better, newer models, with larger caliber weapons that could face the US Medium tanks were kept in reserve for the defense of the Home Islands, effectively being saved for a campaign that never happened. That said the Type 95 was a good tank for the role it was designed for, a light, small, easy to transport armored vehicle, that could fight and maneuver in a tight jungle environment and the China/Manchuria. Only when the tank was used beyond what it was designed for that its "flaws" started to show, but that would be comparable in the European campaign to the M4s when facing other more advanced German tanks. Context is important to understand this vehicles.

Japan actually had developed heavy tanks, that could easily take out a Sherman like the Ch to, Ch ri, and the Chi nu, bad all these tanks were held for the defence of the home islands.

@@user-dd8vo7or2d I am referring to the fact that Tiger was nearly invincible to the earlier models of Sherman and T 34 (Of course later models like Sherman Firefly and T34-85 can penetrate Tiger at considerable distance with their more powerful guns). Similarly Sherman was near invincible to fire by Japanese tanks. I am well aware that Sherman had excellent reliability when compared to the Tiger.

The Emperor had final say. There was an attempted assassination of all the pro-peace Japanese cabinet. It's a very interesting story. He was allowed to live and remain "Emperor", but Gen. MacArthur was the de facto head of Japan after WW2. That wasn't unconditional surrender at all, but it worked to stop the war. I hope that helps at least some.

it’s an anti tank mine, so that should penetrate the armor enough. but under that mine is a 500 LB bomb which is more than enough to lift the entire tank especially if the anti tank mine’s shrapnel exploded the ammo rack.

@@sleazyfellow the US air force was formed in 1941 because they needed an independent branch for the air force, but this branch was disbanded on 1947, to create an official air force The air force was apart of the US army branch

@Daniel Madison Not on Okinawa or Iwo or Saipan or the Phillipines. There was Slim's magnificent 14th Army in Burma,and some relatively small taskforces attached to the Big Blue Fleet. But this was as much an American War as the War against the German Army was primarily a RUSSIAN thing.
