2021 stock market has been wired and proven difficult to invest

The financial and business press like to pontificate like this that retail investors don’t know what they’re doing and will get burned so should leave it to the pros. The WSB guys know this, they know there’s no underlying value - “fundamentals” is referred to as “the f word” there, but the market has been so distorted by easy money (and easy access) that fundamentals mean nothing anymore. If you refused to invest your money because value principles didn’t recommend it you would have underperformed the market for the past ten years. Sure GameStop is over valued but so is the whole market. We’ve returned to pre pandemic values even though pre pandemic business and consumption will not return for at least a year or two.

Payback for 2008 when Wall Street celebrated with champagne while looking down on Occupy Wall Street protesters and laughing.

Fair point to advise the retail investor that someone will be left bagging the huge losses. But the real story remains: a) what world are we living in when the pros can short 140% of a stock??? Whatever the legal answer is you have your work cut out trying to convince the rest of us that morally the pros are not thieves. And b) in this instance the pros will not lose as much as they should because they've called in favours from the brokers to halt the buying of the stocks in question, and this is bare faced market manipulation. Correct, this is fun to watch, and also highly revealing: the elites caught red handed as thieves.

Well that 40% still shorting will have to cover at some point; retail traders will continue bidding the price up till their is zero short existing after which they will hold their gamestop share and trade it among themselves like a cryptocurrency at the final price the last short was covered. Anytime someone comes in to short GMC they will bid the price higher, short squeeze the person out and return to cryptocurrency status.

it seems like the majority of small investors only put 40 dollars into gamestop individually worst thing which can happen to them is they lose 40 dollars which is not that much of a disaster, there are those who over extended themselves who will suffer. it always seemed to be a bit of a political point rather than a a sound financial investment.

GameStop still makes profits plenty of companies worth significantly more make less profit. Capitalism is broken and the profitability of a company bears no relationship to the stock value. Speculation and futures should be banned and if the retail investors want to help a company out of misplaced loyalty or just the profit motive that is all this should be.
