After our video revealing the T.50 hypercar, we discovered that we had loads of incredibly insightful footage left over, with Gordon Murray and Mike discussing more of the engineering firsts that are being brought to the car industry via this stunning car. Gordon also has some very interesting things to say about the other hypercars that the T.50 will be up against. So here is 20 minutes of engineering madness for the geekiest of car people out there!

I love how he talks about the F1 being too expensive to enjoy, like 3 mil isn't. Besides, with all the hype generated for this car combined with the fact that only 100 of these are going to be made, it's immediately going to be worth way more than 3 mil.

@srinitaaigaura
@srinitaaigaura 3 жыл бұрын
He probably had everything already worked out in his head. And that's the thing when you're small and you've got a total, focused vision. But it's also a fact that Gordon doesn't mind getting help from the best out there - he doesn't waste time developing expertise when it's already there. He just owns the vision and he just pushes his partners beyond their limits to deliver and they do. Koenigsegg by comparison does almost everything themselves, which is also a valid approach, but that will take time.

I think he was talking about the likes of "Hennessey, SSC & Co." When Ferrari spoke those words, he was referring to the F1 world of that era, with British teams not using British engines and stuff like that (in general with the scarce presence of real constructors in the Circus). Do not forget that he was the one to compliment the jaguar E-Type as the most beautiful car ever made, and in almost any review about the car, you can still read/listen to that quotation.

Compared to all the other interviews that came out, you can see this one is more interesting and Murray is more engaged too

First in the other video he talked about how fast and responsive the engine is and then uses a mechanical rev counter, which reminds me about the Lexus LFA’s claim that they had to use a digital rev counter because of how fast the engine could rev up to redline and a mechanical rev counter wouldn’t be able to keep up... I guess we’ll have to wait and find out in the future!

I would love for FIA to make the T.50 the new safety car, maybe then Hamilton would stop yapping about it going too slow. 😆

@@MuitoDaora Portimao was a reference point where I realized it's 11 seconds slower than a P1 at full tilt. Even driving to save the tires, it's still 6 seconds slower. So yeah, a Senna GTR should be the safety car.

Hmm testing at mill brook, I’ve been around there in a rascal van and left the ground, would be interesting to see a video of this going around 😮

Dials/knobs, manual gearbox and an analog cluster! He truly is building something special only a few would understand and appreciate. I guaranteed he even dismissed a rev matching feature lol

Very interesting. We are about to embark on a kit build on our channel, and it wont be half as complex as this. Still, food for thought.

As an aspiring mechanical engineer, Murray is fascinating. The borderline insanity that has gone into making this car as perfect as it can be is so interesting.

I just love how in certain angles you can really see the McLaren F1's influence on this car's design, particularly the front end and the sides

Gordon seems like such a perfect English gentleman (not to be cliche), I can listen to him waxing on about the finer points of the car for hours and not get tired. The fact that they spent months perfecting the haptics and feel of the manual switches to be just right, that kind of attention to detail is what I salivate over and these are things that should be given attention to on a car at this pricepoint and exclusivity. I applaud the whole GMA team for pulling this off and I can't wait to see it being tested for the first time, not to mention hearing that V12 being pushed to its 12K redline.

Looks interesting. I'll be curious to see if the production version lives up to the hype.

It will never live up to the hype, nothing ever does. But since his aim is clearly to make a better F1 with modern technology he will at the very least achieve this aim for the car.

I’m glad the Rev counter needle was mentioned. I’m sure I heard the Lexus LFA had to have a digital needle because a mechanical one wouldn’t have kept up. How the mechanical needle will keep up in this car , I’m not sure.
