Great video. Back then the critics said it was "overpriced" and "needed more power" and "the styling wasn't all that great." Now it's a timeless classic and an automotive icon. Glad Jimmy saw thru all the noise.

It was priced less than a 911 and 348/355 when it debuted. Unfortunately, the price went up gradually while the car remained essentially the same, so in its later years, it WAS overpriced. It could have easily been configured to do well over 300 hp, but Japanese restrictions kept it at 270 hp, then at 290hp. It's design was considered a rip-off of Ferrari, but I'd wager it has aged much, much, much better than the 348/355.

The Honda/Acura NSX was one of the most influentual cars in the last 30 years in terms of technology and overall performance. It was the first production car to bring six key technologies (all-aluminium alloy chassis construction, titanium connecting rods, variable valve timing and lift, electronic traction control, independant 4-channel ABS and electric power steering) into one production design, in 1990!, and forever changed what every other manufacturer had to shoot for.

This was overshadowed by the overrated skyline and supra even though this was the proper supercar from Japan and was a tier above those two. Sad that it still doesn't get enough recognition and appreciation as the skyline and supra and that's why it's my number 1 dream car. It also resulted in the birth of the mclaren F1 which changed the supercar scene forever everything we have now, was partially thanks to what the guys at honda did in order to push out an amazing, revolutionary supercar

Exactly, this car is a masterpiece i've driven other JDM cars but this is in another league but the cars that overpriced are Gtr's , Supra just because of a film. Nsx is a drivers car and a piece of over engineer from the past.

People have to bring up the new one of course. The X stands for experimental. If they made it just like the old one, it wouldn’t be very experimental now would it? They used the technology that was around. Refined it, and made an everyday super car. Hmm sounds like the old one to me. Now I’m not a big fan of the car, but for its price it competes with cars costing much much much more. Sounds like the old one again doesn’t it. Honda is an engineering powerhouse. Even their low cost cars and reliable and decent to drive as ever

Arguably one of the best looking designed supercars ever made imho.🤗 It’s just a hame he didn’t mention that this Honda GB press car was actually an auto and not a manual. Then he could have told you that it only produces 255bhp not 270 and around 6.5secs 0-60 not 5.8 but then I suppose that wouldn’t have made good TV viewing would it.😉

A Rare Type R version of the NSX (In championship White) Has sold just recently for (as I recall) about $400,000. That was the claim made in the media's story anyway.

My heart would say Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati or even a TVR but my head would say the NSX! There is a lot to say about reliability,running around town and not overheating, a huge ( and more reasonably priced)after market, and with the others the multi thousand dollar services would become annoying after a while. The real world and real world drivers would be able to maximize the Honda more often than a "dream super car ". Love it !

Imagine the car without 280hp restriction. i mean they wouldnt built a 1000hp car but maybe a 4.0 with proper HP/liter like a usual vtec honda...

A proper car with great design,handling and it is still cheap in a few years it will be in the 100 k range and in my opinion it whorth every penny, this is a masterpiece the best JDM ever made.

So much theater. Prelude also got the same double wishbone front/rear. Also advertised by Senna. And it's 50 times cheaper in Uk where good Hondas are almost free

One of the best cars ever made. When I see one on the road I just stare in awe. Sadly it's terribly dated now but at the time it was very cutting edge. The new NSX's on the other hand are complete junk compared to the original.

Can we just mention the fact that this is an NSX with an automatic gearbox? Who buys an NSX, a mid-engined sports car, with an old-school, torque-converter gearbox? If you want a driver's car, aren't you supposed to drive it, and have full control over which gears you select?

The NSX NA1 and NA2 (old NSX codes name) are from a different time, so if you couldnt move on, just buy an old NSX. Time is now about hybrid and efficiency for pollutions purposes !

£10k+ cheaper...and still a gorgeous sports car. The real question is: When would you exploit a manual?...only on a track. Trust me...you don't want to push a mid-engined aluminium car too far on the road...'Spin-City'. Senna owned a manual in Brazil and had an auto in Portugal for driving to Euro grands prix.

270 horsepower is hardly a supercar. it is a sports car. that looks like a supercar. its no ferrari. it can beat some ferraris, but most ferraris can smoke it, lambos too

I own an NSX and owned a 348. 270 bhp was to adhere to the restrictions based on Japanese cars at that time, yet their performance on the road suggested they had rather more ! There was little in it between the two cars in a straight line. The 348 was striking at the time but in my opinion has aged worse, it also had a horrible snappy chassis and the build quality of a Lada. The interior was made from Fiat 127 bits and the gearbox was not a wonderful challenge but a nasty baulky thing that made changing gear something to be feared not enjoyed. The NSX can be thanked by Ferrari fans for forcing them to up their game and to start building their cars better. The bits you cannot see on the NSX are a thing of engineering beauty and details. Just look at the suspension as an example its almost skeletal in its design. The NSX had depth to its engineering that made the Ferrari look like what it was, a pretty face but shallow.

Fast forward and the new NSX is 4 times the cost and no one wants it! Sorry but you cannot price a Honda like a 911 GT3! Especially given the competition for half the price!

Please stop the crap about comparing the cabin to an F16 cockpit. There are no, I repeat no comparisons. It's a car interior, period. If you sit in an f16, it's like sitting on the top of a rocket. The view is unbelievable, it's just instruments and sky. You even can't see the side streaks.
