M&S Schmalberg is the last factory handcrafting custom fabric flowers in New York’s historic garment district. The family business has designed flowers for celebrities and designers since 1916. But competition from overseas flower manufacturers has made it difficult to stay afloat.
For more information check out M&S Schmalberg online.

I've ordered from them before on Etsy! They took hours to sift through their flowers to find the smallest ones that I could use. So accommodating for even a small order. Amazing quality, I wear the flowers in my hair every day and they have held up wonderfully!

The man who brought in his late wife's wedding dress to turn it into flowers... Mad respect.
@Amaranthyne
@Amaranthyne Жыл бұрын
Really? I would be pissed. It’s fine to move on, but don’t bring me into the relationship with your new wife. It’s gross. Edit: I guess a lot of people disagree with me, but some of that disagreement is getting a bit personal so…I’m doubling down 😘 More than any grand gestures or emotions, relationships hinge on mutual respect and good boundaries. I think this supposedly romantic gesture scores poorly in both those categories. Everyone makes bad decisions, so that doesn’t make them terrible people, just regular ones. That said, I think this is a bad thing that will come back to bite them-forget romantic! As for the people saying I shouldn’t judge them…take your own advice! Edit 2: “If the two people say it’s okay, then it’s fine and you should keep your nose out of it” is not true. It is an excuse. It’s a catch-22 flavor of irony that by advising me to mind my own business you are not taking your own advice. For best results, “like” comments of people who already insulted and disagreed with me.

@@arianamiidolls I know. If I was the wife who died I would think it was weird and gross. I understand the intent, but I don’t think it would be honoring me to involve my memory in your commitment to your new wife-much less by cutting up my dress! Be good to your new wife and don’t bring me into it; that’s just trying to assuage your own guilt. It isn’t better to muddy the waters of your new relationship with my memory. You’re not going to wear our wedding ring. You’re not going to sleep in our bed. You wanted a new relationship so have your new relationship. Keep a few things in a box and donate the rest.

@@henrylivingstone2971 Yup. Isn’t it enough that I’ll bless him moving on without him using my stuff for the new girl he’s sleeping with? It isn’t respectful to her either. This is her day. Don’t roll my name out; I’m dead!

@@ReclusiveEagle it’s not the 8 billion people, it’s the greed of a few. There’s a record number of vacant homes, 16 million in the US last time I checked. 40% of all food we produce is thrown out. So many people I know wish they could just do something they are proud of, that feels tangible. But learning trades like this would never support them financially enough to survive because of skyrocketing rent and food prices. If people can’t do this type of work and survive, this type of work will die. And they can’t survive because people artificially inflate food and shelter for greed. There were times where houses and land were given away for free to stimulate the economy in certain areas. I say we start fixing the problem by not letting vultures buy up 100’s of homes that could be used by working families.

As someone who's been handmaking fabric flowers for wedding bouquets, this gives me so much encouragement and inspiration specially when some people couldn't understand the beauty and uniqueness of this craft. There are times that I've been losing heart beacause of the competition of mass production, the almost little profit I gain, and sometimes I get nothing at all, but watching this, they're endurance and the heart they gave to keep the business going, its not just about money anymore, it really about the legacy, and the joy they had for creating those beautiful flowers amd satisfying their clients and making their visions come true. Its really inspiring.

Are you 100? All the people I’ve seen working are old af. As a factory worker we were responsible for sweeping our own area. It’s a way for companies to cut down on labor. This place doesn’t seem like they hire many people, or pay that much. Not one person looks to be under 50. The reason being, they probably don’t pay a livable wage and only old ladies who are retired can make it. Or migrant workers who get government assistance. Prove me wrong. I’d love to see a young person making a living working here.
